Hey mate, top effort. Tip: polishing the chrome like that would actually create more friction between seal lip and chrome interface. It can burn the seals if too polished/shiny or smooth. With use (riding) the seals actually polish chrome smoother over time. Rider would feel it as stiction too. Just some wet and dry paper of 400 to 600 grit to deglaze chrome is good. Around the chrome, not up and down. Kinda like cross hash in a cylinder for rings and piston to run on. It’s the same principle essentially to provide a valley for oil to keep seals or rings lubricated. Too smooth = friction and lack of oil. Too rough = aggressive wear on seals. 600 grit be fine.
So crazy that I bought a clapped rm250 for my first 2 stroke. I was scared at first and a bit overwhelmed but after finding these videos I am now confident I can get it done. Thanks a bunch dude!
You do great work. I tried doing my front forks on my 450x for a baja race and absolutely destroyed them. lol. Hammers should not be used in the spring replacement process.
Great to see a new video. What would be interesting would be how you can rejuvinate the outer fork legs, as they get knocked about too, but on a more modern fork they have a sort of texture to them, that you need to retain. Often they are anodized too, so would be good to see how you can make them look decent again.

Hey Cameron...what's your opinion on rebuilding a 93 RMX250...I've raced enduros and harescrambles with this bike for most of its life and it's still in good shape but now engine parts are getting scarce along with fork springs.The fork springs would have to be custom work cause nobody makes them anymore and as far as the motor it had a big bore kit that wise no longer makes a piston for.

question when filling my oil back up i checked the level. it was correct. i than adjusted my clickers to how i ride than check the oil again. it was higher. so i took some out. was that a good idea? does that matter?

my ktm exc forks has started to make a “clonk” or “bang” sound when the wheel leaves the ground, what should I change? It’s almost like the rebound damping is totally gone. Btw, this happenes out of nowhere, was just out doing wheelies.
Sounds like a bad fork damper (fork cartridge/shock). If they go bad, you lose your rebound control/adjustment and the fork will extend uncontrollably when it decompresses. You can also replace the damper/cartridge seals if the unit is too expensive.
