Resurrect Dracula to Kill Him Again, Get Drunk & Slay Medusa in this Epic Castlevania Parody (Alpha) 

I covered an earlier build of The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest a few years ago, but this build features MUCH more content. It's being created by Progmancer (creator of Prison City) and is still a long way off completion (release date is currently 2025), but it's already a great homage to Castlevania and is packed full of fun little details. The amounts of references is insane. Forget about the obvious Castlevania games that are references, but Dragon Ball, Mario, Battletoads, Dio's Holy Diver. This game is sure a gem for us older folks haha

I actually like the synopsis of the story; hero that wants to reclaim lost glory so badly, that he will resurrect ancient evil so HE can defeat it

I love what they did with the EXP bar. It's set up in such a way it resembles the score meter. They really nailed the "old school NES" vibe with the entire HUD.

One thing I really love in this is that you can go inside the Church and rest through the night. That would have been really helpful in CV2.

1. Very well done graphically. Especially noticeable things like the parallax scrolling of the backgrounds through the windows of Bram Mansion. 2. The sound design is also great. The song that plays during Bram Mansion is amazing. 3. You now Prossess the knowledge to continue your journey.

This is both homage and middlefinger to Konami and I love it!

I don't understand the Castle Bathory part. He walks in, score at 18,330, Hearts at 221, Gold at 196, Time at 5:00 PM, and holding the holy water grenade. All of a sudden, he has a score of 20,000, Hearts at 100, Gold at 999, Time replaced with Rest 5, and holding the boomerang cross. It switched right after he entered, and his sprite doesn't seem to stop or slow down while walking to indicate a cut of a new later scene, so, I am uncertain what happened here.

The dialogue is nice.

The lore sounds like it is being read by someone from the 1990’s that is a Metal Head Rocker and telling people of the bad assery of Simon Belmont, but changing his name to Simon Quest because the book of lore he is reading out loud to his friends is a book that was put together quickly and explaining the events of Castlevania II Simon’s Quest their own way.

This honestly looks awesome. I do worry about having seen most of the game by watching this though. It really doesn't seem like a parody so much as a homage though; apart from a couple jokes. this game seems to be playing everything 100% completely straight as far as the plot and gameplay goes.

It's honestly too bad this isn't a canon game for the series. Possibly a sequel to Castlevania 2. Or, a spell by one of the dark priests, like Shaft, that has Simon transported to an alternate reality to redo his quest in this new way, or, as a way of trying to brainwash him like with Richter, if he can't fight his way to the end, everything happening in his mind, using the events he just experienced in Castlevania 2 to make them realistic enough for him not to be able to just snap out of the trance.
