#physicalmedia #bluray #oop Who is Sandpiper Pictures? I don't know, but they have my interest. Sleepaway Camp 2 & 3 Coming BACK to Blu-Ray! Blame On Rio gets new re-print. Instagram: lastmoviestanding
I believe Sandpiper was founded by ex-owner of Olive Films or something like that. Not a fan of the artwork for these Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3 blu ray releases and I bet the discs themselves will be barebones (just have the film and maybe the trailers, with no other special features). But, hey, at least they're being re-released on blu ray (hopefully, at decent prices). Side note, I found a blu ray copy of Ready or Not online for about $20, so def getting that.
Oh nice I didn't know that. I miss Olive films😥 Same im not a Hugh fan of the new artwork either & im sure they will be barebones with for me is ok, low budget 80s horror films usually don't have great making of BTS what I like, just interviews. So glad to hear about Ready or Not of $20! I think there are a few around here for that price at small mom & pop shops
@@thelastmoviestanding Yeah, I found it at some record shop in Texas. Ever since I saw it that one time at Best Buy, Ive yet to see the movie again, physically. I mean, at no thrift stores or even Half Price Books.
You should do a show on all of the now defunct bluray labels such as Olive, Network, etc. and how they left a void that still needs to be filled. Sandpiper is a welcome addition to the physical media realm. I just purchased 1949's Thunder Road starring Robert Mitchum which HAD been oop and going for hiked prices on eBay.
I discovered this Sandpiper Pictures almost two years ago when they re-released ‘Another Woman,’ (1988) a Woody Allen drama with Gena Rowlands, Gene Hackman and Sandy Dennis. It had previously had a Twilight Time release but was originally an Orion Pictures film, which is now owned by Elon Musk as I believe MGM had bought out Orion when they went belly up. So far, it’s the only one I have purchased, but it was a nice upgrade from the DVD. They also re-released ‘It’s My Party,’ (1996) a Randal Kleiser film with Eric Robert’s, Gregory Harrison and Olivia Newton-John that had gotten an MGM release in the late 90s on DVD but has long been out of print. Unfortunately, Sandpiper didn’t acquire any of the numerous special features that were on the DVD (but they didn’t acquire the one special feature that Twilight had done for ‘Another Woman either.) I had reached out to Randal Kleiser about the ‘It’s My Party’ BluRay and he hadn’t been aware it had been released on BluRay or even had heard of Sandpiper, but he was going to order a copy for his personal library. Like you, when I first heard of them, I looked them up and couldn’t find anything on them. But I am appreciative of the fact that there is a new indie distributor out there that is willing to take a chance on some of these smaller older titles. Much like Olive, I expect they will continue their current strategy, but also like Olive, I won’t be expecting any special features; just a bare bones release.
I like cool packaging and awesome special features, if they're available. But if it's just the movie from some no-named label, I don't care. I like movies. I buy movies. I collect movies. I watch movies. I don't care who's putting them out as long as someone is putting them out.
I have a few sandpiper releases, they aren’t bad, decent transfers. Something like sleepaway 2 and 3 are welcomed though, especially for peeps who missed them. Such great horror films. Luckily I own all 3, the first from shout and 2 and 3 from 88 films. Parts 2 and 3 from 88 are out of print I believe. Sleepaway Camp part 2 is the absolute best in the trilogy, so if you missed that I highly recommend it!
I love Sleepaway Camp 2. Doesn't take itself too seriously and just has fun with it like Gremlins 2, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Return of the Living Dead or Slumber Party Massacre 2.
I'm wondering when Dogma will be announced being re-released on bluray since Kevin Smith just confirmed he was finally able to buy the rights back for it and who Is gonna produce the bluray and if it will get a 4k
I have Bound for Glory and The Sure Thing, great discs. I will be picking up the sleepaway camp 2. I do get being scared but this is not a new company out of nowhere
the first 1, I absolutely believe is coming. the 2nd? maybe, I would rather have it for an affordable price on a Blu-Ray than not have it at all & it go OOP again cause it doesn't sell well like the Shout blu-rays
Not related. UK 4K VERSION NOT UNCUT!!! I TRIED EVERY OPTION AND CHAPTER SELECTION. I'VE EMAILED WARNER BROS ABOUT IT FOR POSSIBLE DISC REPLACEMENTS!!!
@@treygiovanni6255 maybe where you are, but here, in True North, the bluray is $50. THE dvd is $25 plus $3.50 for shipping and from a seller who, in my humble experience, has always sent me bootleg copies.
I had a video cassettte of u h f my parents old v c r ate it up so I had to wait until so I had to wait until November 2013 for shout factory to release u h f on blu-ray so I got it for Christmas that year
Sandpiper are gtting infamous for releasing films that were OOP but carrying none of the existing extras making them severe downgrades from their last release. There was a FB post where someone who worked on the interviews for the Scream Factory blus of 2 & 3 were open to license the extras over to Sandpiper but found them extremely difficult to get in touch with compared to most labels. Not a good sign. Vinegar Syndrome should have gotten these films.
