This nice radio has an incredible secret, you can listen VHF and UHF, including air band. Try this: first choose a OM frequency, for example 1225 KHz, press and hold REC (you must have a memory card inserted), when it start recording press FM / AM and MODE keys. That's all, now it tunes 122.50 MHz. It works by tuning SW as well, the frequency in KHz goes to VHF or UHF. Enjoy!
I just tried it using 1625 & 1626 KHz. I now get my local NWR station, KWO35 on 162.55 MHz. The bandwidth is wide enough that I hear it on both 162.5 & 162.6 MHz. Thank you for watching and for the advice. Have a good day.
I put my Tecsun PL-380 in my sock drawer after getting the V115. The full bass sound is fantastic. I highly recommend this radio., ( I mostly use it for local MW ).
Request you to please come with more radio receivers having same facility . This is a very rare model you ever came with recently on RU-vid . Thank you .
So much functionality. At $36 CAD on Amazon, I'll be ordering one shortly, so thanks for a great review. Also, that was a decent RU-vid playlist you had going there! Greetings from "Toronto, Ontario."
It looks like it's still out there on amazon. I might have to get one of these. Just like I still have a couple of those MP3 player FM radios. So at least this one has a.m. on it and I can record am and FM and all that. You know this would be a good thing to get.
It does a lot in such a small package. It usually sells for about $25.00, but sometimes it's on sale in the $15.00-$20.00 range. If it goes on sale or if there's a coupon, by all means get it. Thank you for watching and have a good Labor Day.
I bought a second one of these and it came to my house on January 8th. That problem with 96.0 in the one that I bought has been fixed. So it didn't have that in there. Now the one I bought back in the early part of September of 21 had that glitch with 96.0 fm. Maybe they fixed it.
Nice review, I just got V115 a few days ago, and it's a great little radio, the MP3 feature is brilliant, although I'm not having much luck with SW in the UK. I've been carrying it at work and play the MP3 through the van radio in stereo when I'm driving between jobs! Radio's not as good as my Tecsun PL380 which I paid around £44 for, but for £16.99 UK Amazon, this little radio takes some beating and sounds great. Suits a bug out bag, or take to the beach, hotel, or practically anywhere. Subscribed to your channel, really enjoyed your review, thanks!
comicmania2008 Thank you. I subscribed to you channel too. I agree about the SW performance on the V-115. It’s not very good, especially if you live too close to AM stations. The FM & the recording are the highlights to this radio. Even the AM is between decent and good.
I have one of these and its performance on shortwave is extremely poor. The radio uses the same antenna for both SW and FM reception, which goes through a broadband JFET amplifier and then it is split into a SW and FM input on the rx chip. Theres no filtering to speak of and the amplifier is compromised because it feeds both FM and SW at the same time. Another annoying thing is that if you program one station into memory, the radio can no longer tune variably it has to be in fixed channel mode. This thing has some neat features, for example it can act as a USB sound card, but if you want SW reception look somewhere, anywhere else!
I agree with you about the SW reception. When I attach a wire to the antenna, WABC 770 AM (about 5 miles away from me) overloads in many spots of the band. Not good for SW listening. Thank you for watching and have a good night.
Got this from Amazon for 17€ last week. Fine radio...SW Bands ok... Use a long wire to connect to the antenna of set . SW will better to receive. Playback of .mp3 files is very good, display shows all ID3 Tags... Will order a another one...best gift for a friend... eg Birthday
The one I got has brain dsmage. It won't scan, won't manually remember a station and occasionally freezes. It has no step tuning, a deal breaker, no rotary volume control. 1000mamh battery vs 2 AA, at approx 4000mamh. Mp3 is great, and it has better sound than my skywave. But the hype on this radio is over the top. No step tunning! It is scan presets, manual scan or direct input, if it works.
I used a Kaito T-1 antenna and it improves reception. More details are in the link below. Thank you for watching. www.amazon.com/Kaito-T-1-Radio-antenna/dp/B00066Z9XG
Hey Mike I think that's a great radio I have the tivdio version of it and I like it more and more all the time if you use a wire with it it works a lot better
In my case, that doesn't always work out on SW. I live only about 10 miles from WABC's transmitter. That station images on parts of the SW band on both the V-111 & V-115 especially with a wire. Thank you for watching and have a good weekend.
Hello there, may i know if it is possible to set timer recording or the FM Radio? Example if we set the time at 8am in the morning, will the FM radio auto turn on at 8am and record? Thank you.
Thank you Riki. I have seen the HanRongDa K-603 on Amazon. It looks like an updated version of the Retekess V-115. Tecsun has a number of radios with good AM performance such as the PL-310ET, PL-380 & PL-606. The Radiwow R-108 is also good on AM. There are also more expensive radios with good AM on it. It depends on how much you are willing to spend.
The Shortwave reception, in my opinion, is not very good. I think you’re better off getting the Kaito KA-110. It’s the same as the V-115, except instead of SW, it has Weather Band, which works way better. Not only that, but it can except Micro SD Cards up to 64GB instead of 32GB and you can store over 65,000 songs on it.
The KA-110 looks tempting, but the price is too high for me to consider right now. It's $34.99 compared to the $18.00 after coupon for the V-115 when I bought it.
I don't have the Q3, but I have seen reviews of it. Based on the reviews, the line in recording on the Q3 is stereo. If you want stereo recording, I suggest the Q3.
I just got the radio today and am trying to learn how to use the recording function. At first it didn't acknowledge the micro SD card, just trying to read it, and it wouldn't record to it. I switched the card back to my Retekess HR11S and it couldn't read it anymore either. Then I tried to record from the radio on the HR11S and made two brief files. After I switched the card back to the v115, it was able to read the files and I was able to record a couple of short files via the Auxiliary in jack and the FM Radio. Now I am attempting to delete those files and following the instructions I can't get any of the files to erase. The screen comes up saying "are you sure to delete the file?" and the booklet says to confirm delete to press the button with the forward arrows on it (the "next" key). It doesn't delete the file whether I short or long press the "next" key. It just goes back to the music file list again without doing anything.
If there is anynew change in your115 v set iwill purchade but if it is old good system the i have already pl NEW SOME ONE ONLY GOOD RECORDING THANKS Nothing like 115v realy.
The manual does not state whether the radio or line in will record in stereo, but I saw an online review stating that the FM recording is in stereo. Here is the link to the review below. n9ewo.angelfire.com/v115.html
I know it's late but if you have problem from only getting mono recording, you can edit the audio using audacity from your computer, just duplicate it and make it stereo.
I usually go to fccdata.org or radio-locator.com to see which stations are licensed. There is now a licensed FM translator on 102.3 that simulcasts WMCA 570 AM that signed on a few months after I recorded this video. Thank you for watching.
I have a separate video of WFBL "The Dinosaur" that I recorded last year. Here is the link below. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ele6WxW6Tig.html
The V115 receiver, is very insensitive on the shortwave band. To overcome this I added an external JFET RF preamp. The story is here: www.vk6fh.com/vk6fh/V115receiver.htm

I don't usually diassemble radios. The only time I ever did that was the QFX R-9 because that radio was so bad. I still plan on using the V-115 for quite awhile. Thank you for watching and have a good weekend.
I don't like the leds backlight that Is annoyng on night and interferes with sleep,I'm plain to change the Leds with Orange,Do you know good budget Radio with Orange display?Cheers
That's more of a quality control issue. Perhaps you got a defective V115. Mine is pretty good on FM, but the ability to record is the main selling point of this radio.
You haven't seen a worst radio until you've seen a QFX R-9. It's complete junk. Thank you for watching. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aJ6ZXWU6-Qk.html
