I got the 10/24 M1 Max with 64GB memory when they came out. I just ordered the M3 max with 128GB, but this time I ordered the chip with the larger GPU. I am also trading in my MacBook and 100% agree with your assessment that that is the best way to go. The only difference is I chickened out to the 2TB SSD. The upgrade to 4 was too pricey. Thanks for the video. Can’t wait for the next one.

I have M1 and M3 max . Huge jump depends on what applications you will be running. Apps that uses GPU like 3d you can really see the differences. GPU has Improved a lot M3 is double M2 performance. Also Apps are not fully optimized for M3 yet so expect more performance in updates. Basic video editing and 2d image editing you can stick with M1 and be fine.

This was very helpful for me in a back-door kind of way. I have an M1 Studio and waiting for the M3 Studio. You gave me definitely insight and awareness. I know now that I will trade in and upgrade when the new ones are. A logical and cost-effective for my workflow. Thanks for the video it is appreciated.

Really curious to see a BlackMagic internal SSD speed test between these 2 machines. I've heard they overdid the SSD drives in the M1Max series. Marques still uses an M1Max and can afford any computer out there. In fact he cancelled his order for an M3Max. I just bought a used M1Max 10/32 with 64GB ram for less than 1/2 then price of an M3Max with a one year warranty. Upgraded from an Intel MBP with an i9 and 32GB ram. I REALLY notice the difference!

I still hope to see a comparaison during a real edit not just export time comparaison. I'm more interested at how they compare during a complex video edit with vfx, titles, sound design, mixed with different codecs (raw, h265, h264,...); multiple layers, color grading (+ grain, halation,..), with and without proxies, etc..;.It's basically how I will edit every day, that's why 🙂But it's almost impossible to find on RU-vid unfortunately . Everyone is doing comparaison with render time but to be honest it's the last thing I'm interested to see. When you think about it, does it really matter to upgrade your computer just for render time? For me, definitely no, because I don't care to gain 10 sec on a video project that took 3-4 days to finish 😅

How's the thermal throttling on the 14 inch and are you wishing you got the 16 inch for better performance?

Are you seeing a major difference of battery drain with Sonoma on your m1 max 16” or is it pretty much same as Ventura and Monterey. I am still on Monterey and I have a 16” m1 32gb(ram). Thanks in advance.

Thank you for comparison, it was really useful, few things to improve: - don’t put laptops to close, vent holes on the sides were blocked, one of the side vent holes might be more important than other; - battery % might be important; - keep the chrome opened isn’t great idea, it might eat CPU too, depending on what tabs opened;

Eu tenho um MBP M1 Max (32/10) com 32Gb de memória unificada e 4Tb Ssd e digo: só vou cogitar trocar por um M6 ou coisa do tipo... Por enquanto, ele me atende em 120% do que preciso! rs! Utilizo para Produção Musical e edição de vídeos e o ponto mais forte do M1, para mim, é que ele roda praticamente em SILÊNCIO ABSOLUTO! 🙌🎶

I am not sure that apple silicon processors will be released each year. In my opinion M3 will be here for 16 months or more.

I'm still using the 2019 i7 model. I think the M1 Max model would be a decent bump up in performance. I'm mostly using lightroom and Photoshop editing 45mp photos for my use case.
