We love it too! The book is called 'Happy' (or there's a shorter version called 'A Little Happier'), and it absolutely fits in with our Stoic, scientific approach to personal growth. You'll often hear Karl Moore talking about it in his interviews. Every member of our team has a copy of his book!
@@Inspire3Agreed, the “shorter version,” as you say, “A Little Happier,” to me, is a brief summary of “Happy,” for those whom aren’t interested in lengthy novels. Both are absolutely incredible reads! Repositioning our thinking, and applying needs vs. wants changes everything. The powers of thinking people!! Be positive, and spread light!! With Love ❤️
We completely agree! An excellent dive into the Stoic philosophy often talked about by Karl Moore. You can also try his slightly shorter version of the book - 'A Little Happier'.
thank you now I have listened on my computer yes I try to be happy and must be happy thank you dear Karl sorry my response was late excuse me To your joy Nahid
BRILLIANT. VIDEO....a system is what I do....Remembering what you need to remember and able to forget what you need to forget...IN a 90 minute ZOOM session we get understanding so you are FREE....following a thought through...wow...
I’m a heterosexual Christian and I fight for gay human rights. I deplore the fake Christians a great deal. This was a very, very good lesson. I cared for my invalid dad for 3.5 years. Others have had it much harder . I got such a great sense of purpose that I considered just getting an LPN license and doing that with my life . Then Wham !! A series of health troubles came my way. Choosing that as an example was perfect. We could use a Darren in The American Oval Office. But then again, a can of soup would be better. What an amazing entertainer. Leaps and bounds above any of the rest in all of history. Everybody that is anybody Loves Darren.
Regarding the house thing, at first I thought I'd move into a large house anyway, then I realized, I'd probably move into the largest library I could find.
We have it back to front, we allow our thoughts to control our breath, when our thoughts are agitated our breathing is agitated then we feel agitated which controls our actions, if you control your breath first you'll control your thoughts and the way you feel and act.
I feel like I have very little control over my thoughts, I probably have OCD but instead of doing things repeatedly I think things repeatedly maybe a bit of ADHD as well.Actions I can control thoughts not so much.
If everything/everyone disappeared... I'd sit down then lay down and observe the sky. Then i THINK I'd seek to source some rollerboots, music & I'd roll.
The thing is You are only in control of your actions and reactions, you are NOT in control of your thoughts, a thought is literally the only thing we are not in control of, a person has between 50,000-70,000 thoughts a day, if he'd try control any one of it, he'd go insane.
toughts and actions. while sharing or saying something out of your mind you are in full action. these activities are not always fully under your conscious control, unfortunately.
@@dustingrimmmagic1067 you do not need to be mentally challenged to be unaware of some of your actions, or thoughts. This question is about focus, about attention, which you can not keep 100% all the time. Impossible. However, you need to keep focus when it really matters. Which is not all the time, not in any given moment.
I think the core Stoic teaching is that you can only ever be in control of your own conscious thoughts and actions. Everything else is officially outside your control. You can attempt to influence it, but you shouldn't attach yourself to the outcome, as it officially falls outside your sphere of direct control.
Daniel Buxton Good question! My understanding is that they appear before and/or after thoughts. Sometimes we think things because of how we feel. Sometimes we feel things because of things we think.
We would agree! We tend to think that emotions lead our thoughts, but it can often be the other way round. Imagine yourself feeling hurt because someone hadn't acknowledged your birthday. Then later that day, you walk in to a big surprise party. In this case, your knowledge, your thoughts... had a direct impact on your emotions. So, perhaps (just perhaps!) the Stoic lesson is to sort your conscious thoughts and actions first... and your emotions will follow.
I think you're almost right here. To clarify, Derren (and the Stoics in general), are more referring to one's *conscious* thoughts and actions, not the 'automatic' thoughts that we all have at times.
It works if you are willing to work. But then again try getting spiritual awareness by using positive thinking. Taking care of old people plays on ones ego, respectability and obligation. Soul is here for itself not everyone else. SORRY.
Yeah, You need to get younger! you still look good .. but the thing bellow the eyes gives your age.. don't worry, everyone worry about looks. Not THAT important, if you think about it!
Happiness, a concept, this emotion is not real, attached to the ego body, the avatar. Do not strive for happiness as it will dam your soul. "If you have love of this world, then the love of the Father is not in you"-Master Yeshua Messiah.
