Dr Dray, can you make a video about your medical school experience and why you chose dermatology. I’m in medical school and looking to choose a specialty and dermatology interests me a lot. I look up to you a lot and have been subscribed to you for 6 years now ❤
I'm a fragrance freak so I never paid much attention to fragrance in skin care until I started getting a lot of redness in my 40s - to the point where I thought I had rosacea. I switched to fragrance-free skincare and it made all the difference. So I also stick to candles and perfume now for my scent addiction.
For what it's worth I am 69 and recently started tretinoin.05% and I use it once a week. It's been two months and I love it. Apply on Sunday night and Thursday thru Saturday a fine peel. Then I do again on Sunday night, etc. FYI works for me. ☺️
Hi Dr. Dray can you review more No 7 products? I like this company because it seems to have real science behind it and it’s moderately priced and readily available in the US at Walgreens but I’m curious what your opinion is especially the menopause line.
For my ROSACEA I use SELSUN GOLD Anti Dandruff Shampoo on my face as a face wash & UNGVITA Ointment. My pustules/lumps/redness have reduced, almost gone compared to before my face looked like angry red sunburn with painful lumps/pustules. 😁 Ingredients UNGVITA : Each gram contains 1800 IU retinyl palmitate (Vitamin A). Also contains cod liver oil and a petroleum jelly base. Active Ingredients: 1800 IU retinyl plamitate (Vitamin A)
I haven’t bought perfume in 20 years but I smelled that Billie Eilish and it got me. I also bought Ariana Grande Blush perfume which I never would’ve considered if Dr Dray hadn’t opened this door. Goodbye my $$$ but on the plus side I’m allergic to all fragrance in skin scare so having something nice I can spray on my clothes/hair is kind of a treat.
I have rosecia and have used a retinoid for years with no issues. I always put it on after a heavy moisturizer instead of before and its been really well tolerated by my skin. I got the tip from an old video of Dr. Dray years ago when she first started her channel. Its actually helped a lot with the redness and texture. The only bad thing is now my chest looks about 10 years older than my face. The sun damage on my neck is super noticeable now because my face is so smooth and clear by comparison. I never used to take products down to my neck and chest when doing my skincare routine.
I should let my eyebrows do the Mark Twain shuffle and grow like awnings and then when someone asks why don’t you trim your eyebrows my reply will be Mark Twain didn’t! 🤠👍🏻 Be glad that you have them cause they’re more likely to reduce over time!
I could use some Mark Twain eyebrows!😔 of course all of my childhood photos show sparse eyebrows so I don't know what I was plucking as a teenager, I guess I was trying to shape whatever it was I had there
The very sinister tumble in gymnastics you are talking about is a back aerial walkover. It's actually not too hard, it's like a back walkover but without hands. I absolutely couldn't do one anymore but I used to be able to, a long time ago 😆 I quite like that barrier repair serum but I'm not quite sure why yet, I'm still working out if it's because it's pink..
I started tret being scared of the irritation, cause I had never even used retinol, after the first use my face burned a little for the next 3 days and then it was fine, so I went on using the sandwich method only to the corners of my nose and upper lip and was able to tolerate it everyday. I'm just on my 3rd week ☺️
Dreams are metaphors sometimes for our own relationship to life. Maybe your life is feeling like you are balancing too much and feel as if you are not going to be able to keep it up.
35, I've used differin a little bit prior to getting tretinoin gel 0.1%. I use it once a week, day 3 and 4 i peel a bit, nothing insane, just soft buffing helps those days and moisurizing as always. Will prob up to every 6 days and so on. I can feel and see a noticible improvement in my skin. I am waiting for a crazy purge, I've had a bit that went way quick. Maybe I won't. But even so It's already shown worth it. My pores are so much less visble and my skin tone is way more even and glowing
The total change in my skin is 10000% worth the 2 day slight peeling and adaptability phase of getting used to it. Literally new skin showing more consistently
Paulas choice makea amazing hand towels almost like super soft micro fiber. They are great for lightly buffing your skin any day. But especially the light peely days
Ans I don't feel a need to even introduce anything else to my routine, yet. Just use a very basic hydrating cleanser lightly. Every morning and night, and Moisturize. And sunscreen. Ill fiddle with serums snd such again later after acclimation to the retinoid
Totally agree about the Laneige lip mask...I have chronically dry, peeling lips and this product does absolutely nothing for me. I find their products pretty basic and really overpriced, you're definitely paying for the packaging and brand.
Yes, yes, we know retinoids are good. Except they’re really not for everyone. I have sensitive skin, with rosacea and eczema. I have tried (multiple times, multiple ways, multiple products) and now at 58 have accepted they’re not for me. No use trying to force retinoids on my skin, even slowly. It’s the skin that always wins that argument. It’s just frustrating though because it seems that’s all everyone talks about and that if you don’t incorporate them, then your skincare routine is useless. Alternatives please??? I’ve decided to focus on reinforcing my skin barrier. So I actually like the barrier support serum. It’s not just « hydrating », it has niacinamide, ceramides, vitamin B12, etc.
Try glycolic acid with a pH of 4, even only 8% is effective for many issues including pigment control, acne, fine lines and boosting collagen and elastin. Of course use spf and go easy at first.

We must be long lost siblings! I’m 5 month into Tretinoin .025% and have flakey skin daily. After double cleansing I use CeraVe night cream, wait 30 mins, then apply Tretinoin MIXED WITH EltaMD PM therapy. Still have flakes. I see my derm next week and will see what he says. I’m ready to ditch it at this point!! So frustrated 😫 I’m sorry to hear it didn’t work for you but glad to know I’m not alone….
Another way to lose your eyebrows: when I was in my teens I learned about the mites that live on your face and it freaked me out so bad that every time I washed my face I would scrub the soap in with my fingernails Lol. To this day I still have the ocd urge to do it haha.
Dr dray another useful video. I like your vlog. Could you please share your thoughts on sun protection that turns as sun fear? I always try to protect my skin from sun, however I fear to go out sun thinking it will cause hyperpigmentation etc. definitely we all need to go out but I don’t enjoy going out thinking it will damage my skin. My skin gets tan pretty easily. How I will know that my skin is completely protected. I wear mask too to protect myself. Any advice?
Maybe decrease the concentration? That’s what I had to do. I stopped the .05 for like a month and when I got my refill I peeled like crazy! So I dropped to .025 and have been doing well, and plan on working back up.
Re the neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair - the weirdest thing- I had gone through a whole jar of the one which has fragrance on my neck absolutely fine, n then I switched to the none fragrance one (with no skipped days in between) and immediately got a red rash all over my neck! I let it heal and tried again, and same thing happened! You'd think the fragrance one would be the offender?!x
@@sable7114 tbh the tub of fragrance one that I used up on my neck hadn't made any difference to the fine lines so I've given up with it! Might try a different retinol there at some point. I use adapoline on my face which is good x
Hello Dr Dray! Would you consider making a video/short on piroctone olamine? It's in almost every dandruff shampoo in Europe ever since we banned zinc pyrtihione and I wonder how do they compare😄
@@kels_x1414 25 is the scientifically shown age where you start losing collagen (on a molecular level) which causes sagging, and you also start to develop wrinkles. which is why many young people decide to get preventative Botox. And let’s not forget the Sun, 25 is when you start to develop melasma.. . So no I am not still a child.
I use LaNeige sleeping mask. It has a perfume-like fragrance. I will try the Tacha one. I also took your advice and bought a scalp massager. It feels great.
In the Beauty Within videos. Rowena, who has dry skin tried Laneige & said it didn’t stay on all night, but did like the Nourishing Care Lip Sleeping Pack by KLAVUU. 😉
Speak of scented skincare, I really can’t stand scented sunscreen. This is why I personally dislike using La Roche Posay SPF. Their fragrance is too overpowering.
Greetings Dr Dray hope u r well n 🖐Hello Every1 n Happy Saturday😀n what a Wonderful Vlog…. thanks n This is Gonna b so Cool🔥👍n Continued Blessings to All💜….
Dr Dray do you think some skin types are just too dry for retinols? My mature skin has dried out so much, and no matter how gradually I incorporate the retinols, it just can’t keep up. But I remember you mentioning that retinoids can eventually improve the moisture in skin. So I’m wondering if I continue, this could eventually be the goal.
I sympathize- I do not have dry skin but try as I might- and I have tried multiple times and kept with it for months- I cannot do a retinol except one of the ones one or twp steps removed. I flake and peel and even break out around the chin line. I really get bummed out as I know it is the best. 💜
I use cerave oil cleanser for face. I believe this really helps during retinol treatment. It doesn’t dry out the skin prior to using retinol. I just see that Dr. Dray uses it in this video.
@@meggieprice I hope this may help you. I started Tretinoin 0.05 at age 67 (I am now 72) fair skinned with dry to very dry skin. I had tried several times before but always gave up because Tretinoin was too drying. I was finally successful following two RU-vidrs, first was Dr Dray's (of course) advice not to apply to a clean dry face as the directions advise but to cleanse the face, moisturize, let dry then apply the Tretinoin. The other was Angie of Hot and Flashy who advised going very slowly - one night a week for a month, then two nights a week the second month etc. So it took a long time to get my skin used to Tretinoin. I did have some peeling and purging but it was manageable. I still moisturize before applying Tretinoin which I do six nights a week, one night I just moisturize and let my skin recover. I also am not looking to move up in strength - 0.05 is just fine for me.
Retinols if we stay consistent to it they will yield the results but if not (not staying consistent) then why bother in the first place. I think if you want to go overboard then a big couple of mr and ms Claus is a must 😅🎄🎅. Have a great day Doctor Andrea ❤😊.
Hi Dr Dray, First thank you for your videos, very informative and entertaining! Have you tried Naturium Retinaldehyde cream serum? I’ve been using Maelove Moonlight serum and love it, but they’ve stopped shipping to Canada. I’m looking for a replacement.
She's not a derm but master esty Penn Smith Skincare is a fan of the Naturium retinaldehyde. Dr. Jenny Liu has recommended it as well recently along with Dr. Sam Ellis (taking into consideration that she has been a consultant for the brand).
Can you address this through a video: Does the use of Tretinoin cause wrinkles if used at too high of a strength, without proper moisturizer and particularly in those with dry skin ? It appears to have dried out my skin, leading to more wrinkles that are not temporary.
What's the science on retinal compared to tretinoin? O tolerate both but I see I can use retinal much more carelessly without any irritation while with tretinoin I always need to dilute, buffer or back down for one or two days to let my skin rest.
Hahah, I love your "weird stuff I dreamt last night"- recaps! I've gotten into a routine of writing my dreams down, simply because I think it's fun, and I want to see if there are any patterns or overarching themes in my dreams. I've been a silent viewer for the past two years, and I want to thank you for all of your informative videos. I also appreciate you including affordable skin care products in your videos, for those of us who are on a budget. Keep up the good work, Dr. Dray! :)
I'm enjoying this video with my tea 🫖 Those Peanut displays were lovely to see and that cute doll so adorable 😊 I agree with your Dr. Dray that products that are scented aren't always the best choice especially some of us with allergies. I always purchase fragrance free skin care . Those scented candles I don't buy most of those are made from paraffin wax . I buy Beeswax candles that are made with cotton wicks 🕯 Take care everyone 🌹🌹
I have this weird dream I get on an expressway, always on my way to Canada, and out of nowhere I am in a bobsled on a track! Then it turns into the Corkscrew Roller coaster and if I'm not going fast enough I fall out of the bobsled and wake up🧐 But I am weird af🤣 Have you seen the Hyaluronic Acid/Niacinamide Tea?
Am I the only one who notices that people who use tretinoin consistently for years have orange skin in the areas of application? I first noticed it on myself and since started to dial down on tretinoin and noticed my skin tone coming back to normal. For reference I am using a prescription 0.025 tretinoin. I would love to see this issue discussed more.
Hi Dr Dray! Could you maybe do a video of a day in the life of a dermatologist and explain the different skin diseases you saw that day and treatments you prescribed? As a med student it would be interesting. Thank you for your content
Guys I need your help! Does anyone knows on-line pharmacy in Europe that i can order tretinoin? I am for Greece and unfortunately you can buy it only with prescription. I ordered and paid €60 from one i found in internet but it was absolutely fake.
I’m having a hard time with that Neutrogena sunscreen m it burns my eyes like crazy, but I don’t want to waste it so I’m finishing it up, but I won’t be repurchasing it
Hey I used to like the Neutrogena on my face and then something strange started to happen so I stopped using it. Recently I purchased again assuming that maybe there was something wrong with that particular tube that I had and I'm okay so far except my eyes to burn even though I don't get it close to the lids, my eyes must be picking up a scent or something from the sunscreen and they will drain and burn.
I have that problem a lot, but my eyes are sensitive to everything. I use up stuff that bothers my eyes by only applying it on my lower face and use something that doesn't burn on the rest.
I have tried for several years to try and adapt to using tretinoin using all your tips. Yet, I finally had to admit that I can't use it. My rosacea is just too reactive. I break up in a lot of red bumps and pustules that sting and itch. However, I have recently tried differin and so far it's going well and my pustules seem to be fading instead of flaring.
@@kimgraham8571 I use Differin now that Dr Dray posted the video saying it can help. I also use azelaic acid and hydrochloric acid spray each morning. It's not perfect and I still deal with flare ups, but at this point I just accept it. I will never have a complexion that is not bumpy and red.
I have a question about facial hair removal while using tretinoin. How could I do that without damaging my skin? I want to try tretinoin but this is the one thing that’s holding me back. Any suggestions? Thank you Dr Dray!
Is retinol useful & ok to use in the a m (as well evening)? I use Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair FF & Recently purchased Olay Regerist 24 & sunscreen after in the a m. Thanks so much, Dr. Dray!
Hello Dr.Dray!. I'd like to know your opinion on this, a few days ago I watched a video and this woman was explaining that the most damaging radiation for the skin that really kills collagen, elastin and makes skin age faster is not UVA but infrared radiation. I was really surprised because I had heard infrared may cause a minor amount of damage comparing with UVA, but she said a recent study in (I don't remember the university she said) had concluded the damage from UVA is about 10% comparing to the damage from infrared radiation, and I was like OMG! I don't know what to believe anymore. Can you please inlight us about this please??
I overplucked my brows when it was fashionable to have that awful thin line, after years of drawing then back on painstaking each day, I found a fabulous eyebrow artist and had mircblading done. I have annual touch up I love having amazing brows that require no daily work. I think finding a really god brow artist is paramount.
There's a brand in Brazil called creamy and it's clear it took inspiration from the ordinary, cause it launched a product called "NIACINAMIDE B COMPLEX 20%" and it contains vitamin B12 to have a pink color 😂
I was looking at the pink soothing lotion and thought I should ask Dr Dray and here you are. Now I’m wondering about another ordinary product that stains the skin. I believe it’s red or brown red sorry I forget everything about this product and can’t seem to find it. I’m really getting away from candles I’m enjoying wax melts Scentsy is my go to. I do have a few candles from B&BW and they burn badly they just don’t do it for me now that I went to wax melts. The warmers are safer then candles. Always two thumbs up more if I had more always enjoyable.
Great vid❤ ..but how do I permanently get rid of the on screen product pop ups..they take the whole corner of my phone screen..I can't relax, cuz I have to keep removing them.. I prefer to just use the links after the vid.. which I do often..n all the same info is there..thanks
She's got a short on it. Dr. Rupa Wong (ophthalmologist) has a video on it. The Budget Dermatologist has a video on lash serums and an interview with the ophthalmologist who developed twenty-twenty lash/brow serum.
Did you eat something spicy before bed? I love the cerave oil cleanser, my new favorite over The Ordinary Squalane cleanser and my previous favorite hydroboost cleanser.
Dr.Dray, can you please explain the cause of dry, wrinkley and pruney lips?? Is it iron deficiency or some more serious health condition causing this abnormality??? Thanks!
@@vyn69 I don't know what verb is but I've heard of Argan Oil by watching a lot of RU-vidrs and they seem to like it on the hair. The doctor here uses a Moroccan oil on her ends but not necessarily for dryness but it should certainly help. Everybody's hair is different though it may seem similar so you just have to experiment with some oils. Try jojoba oil since it is the oil that is closest to the sebum that we naturally have on our scalp.
I am the same with perfume but more tolerant than you, especially because my best alternative where I live is Larroche Possay, and the perfume I love is guerlain allegoria water different scents, herba fresca is the very best, bit I love them all
