@@lizpedano1542 there's lots of similarity: the Ukrainian civilians had been in the Russia's occupied territories for half a year or so. So, when the Nazis withdrew a bit back, the liberated civilians naturally greeted the Ukrainian army as Salvator Mundi. The Russians are still strong though

My gosh,,, remember over the last few years whenever a news team would go interview the Ukrainians in the trenches. To a man and woman, the soldiers laughed when asked if they were afraid of Russia - when asked why they simply said "We are Ukraine, they cannot beat us!"
They have incredible spirit and strength. Hope they continue in this direction and the Russians leave. How dare they try to take another country when they have a huge country
For NATO not to directly intervened as conveyed by the alliance leaders I respect that and it brought out the motivation in the fighting spirit and Morales of the Ukrainian people and fight against alienation, being cut off from the world, Ukraine need an official NATO membership invitation. So they should hold a referendum on joining NATO or not in Ukraine, another blow to Putin too.

@Kyle Kyle???? What? Dude, there may be a crazy narrative being pushed on the Russian public but it doesn’t play out well outside of Moscow. I get it, your boss is breathing down your neck to post these lies but Putin has to understand his war is lost. Now it’s time to humiliate the Russians over and over and show the world that Russia is weak and vulnerable. And if the Russian people want a normal life again they’ll have to remove the pathetic dictator. And yes, this is a proxy war and NATO is crushing it! How are your troops enjoying their North Korean weapons? 😂
@Kyle Kyle Before this war I was left leaning. After seeing MAGA reaction to this war and cheering on an invading force of war criminals I'm voting as far left as possible. Vote to criminalise support of right wing parties. Yes. Vote to enforce vaccination of everyone. Yes. Vote to make America a communist country. Yes. Isn't that how politics works? If my party supports it I must support it too? Even if I disagree with something I should support it anyway to own the right wingers?

NATO (incl. all members) should publish a joint 3-point declaration: (1.) NATO and members will never, under any circumstances, be the first to use nuclear weapons; (2.) Russia will be held responsible for any use of nuclear weapons anywhere in Europe -- Putin's predictable denials of responsibility will neither be listened to nor replied to; and (3.) as to each use of a nuclear weapon or weapons, NATO will answer with a tenfold, 10 kilotons for each kiloton, response against Russian interests located anywhere -- time, place and kilotonnage (within the tenfold limit) to be chosen by NATO to maximize destruction of Russian military capabilities, and 10 kilotons-for-one response ratio to be sustained as long as any Russian nuke explodes anywhere in Europe (or North America). The declaration should state that the ten-kilotons-for-one may all be delivered in Red Square (around which various command-and-control assets of the Russian military are located), or they may be distributed among 20 or 30 Russian military or naval units, in Ukraine or elsewhere. The reason the U.S. didn't make a "no first use" pledge decades ago was fear that only tactical nukes could stop a Red Army juggernaut from sweeping across Western Europe. Now we know that Russian conventional forces are a paper tiger (tissue paper at that), so there's no reason not to make the no-first-use pledge. The declaration should make it plain that anti-personnel use of NATO nukes will be a priority option. At the same time efforts are made to make sure Russian soldiers learn full details of the NATO declaration, agitators should be encouraging Russian soldiers to form a Soviet of Soldiers' Deputies. Meanwhile 2 American and 1 British crack divisions (plus units from France, Germany and/or Poland) should be moved near the borders in (each of) southern Finland and northern Estonia. While these forces should stay 1 mile back from the border and refrain from provocative demonstrations, NATO should issue a proclamation stating that, since Putin has declared the intention of reclaiming all territory ever ruled by a Muscovite Tsar, other regional powers are considering reclaiming all territory seized by a Muscovite Tsar, with an appendix addressing such issues as population exchange and transhipment of Muscovite cultural items (the contents of the State Hermitage Museum, for example, or the equestriate statue of Peter the Great) in the event the Leningrad/St. Petersburg territory is restored to its pre-Petrine owner or owners. NATO powers should use their most advanced cyber-warfare assets to ensure the widespread availability of the NATO declaration and proclamation within Russia. If any quiet channels to Russian military leadership remain open, assurances should be given that all these hostile initiatives will be halted on a dime (except for the Soviet, of which we might soon lose control) as soon as (1.) Putin is deposed and arrested; and (2.) all Russian forces are withdrawn from any part of Ukraine, including Crimea. Finally, since the Russian Federation has been calling on Russian-identified residents of other countries to return to Mother Russia both because of the great opportunities there and to avoid imminent persecution, states with such potential fifth-column populations should be helping Russia by amplifying that message and encouraging emigration.
Frankly, I do not feel the refusal to be the first to use nuclear weapons applies to Russia now that they have taken over the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant and have "mishandled" it so badly. Putin's intent is clear, and that should've been considered a "first move". Putin needs to be neutralized by NATO. It is ridiculous to wait until after he has unleashed his first nuke on Ukraine. He has made his intent clear. Thousands of Ukrainian citizens and soldiers have already died - no more Ukrainian blood shed. The only way to have peace is for NATO to take away any ability Russia has to use/make nuclear (or any military) weapons, and imprison Putin. Dissolve its military. Russia has shown over this last century that it is not capable of forming it's own government that its own citizens can survive in. It needs to be occupied the same way Germany and Japan were after WW II.
That "rotten door"quote was actually a Hitler one. "You only have to kick in the door and the whole rotten edifice will come crashing down." [on the invasion of Russia in WW2.]

Those Ukraine soldiers are wearing very good uniforms and essential associated equipment - more NATO like than anything the Russians can field. Add in the modern western vehicles, NATO intel and heavy artillery and Russian forces are outmatched big time. This will really impact moral on both sides. This retired General mentioned "...careful not to overextend..."; another General says "...a retreating army has to be pursued..." (reminds me of the Union Army after Gettysburg not chasing Lee's army). The Ukrainians may not have the number of troops to chase. We'll see what happens. Ah yes, this General should complete his thoughts more thoroughly.
You are right. Ukraine has a 2000 km of border and front line with enemies. It is a distance like from New York to Dallas TX. And we have 5 times less number of people than Russia. Fighting smart is the only option Ukrainians have at the moment. However, it would not be possible without help from the US, Great Britain and Europe. And, believe me, Ukrainians value it a lot.
They're both right. Chase as far as you can, within the limit of your supply lines. There was one report that Ukrainians already did that once, moving so fast, their supplies couldn't keep up. But they worked it out.

Ukranian forces moved to Svatove, but had to retreat as it was not enough information to make decisions. As for now, it is clear that the new plan is to free Lyman and Lysychansk, where the main Russian forces are located. And it won't be fast.
It's hard for me to imagine Russia making any progress toward capturing Odessa, at this point. Russia tied up 20,000 to 30,000 troops around Kerson and then lost the ability to keep them supplied well (they get dribs and drabs through by helicopter). They could let go of that nuke power plant, but that's not many troops. They sent a large convoy to reinforce troops near Karkiv, but Ukraine wiped out that convoy. They could pull from the Donbas, but then risk losing the crown jewel (city) they planned to keep (not counting Crimea).
