I was in Taiwan in 1997 and then returned in 2004 and it was a different world. As Bob mentioned correctly, Taiwan went from being a developing country to a civilized, developed and evolved society. It had fully transformed into an open democracy, national health was in place, the MRT was established and expanding, high speed rail was about to launch and people had become environmentally conscious with recycling being commonplace. Taipei traffic was so much better. I was proud of Taiwan and how it evolved into a 21st century society.
The good old days... He was talking about the places I worked in 1997-2000 on my first stay. Panchiao, Sanchong, Tucheng (& Hsinchuang). Yes, lots of changes - also in terms of the treatment of animals- they didn't seem to be considered pets as much back then, but now they are a lot of people's babies. Taiwan is an amazing country. From the cold city of Ottawa (but hot in the summer).
I knew the McDonald in Tien-mu (天母) back to 1989 since I was lived there (1980 to 1995) near the America school and I had a scooter too, haha !! ....woops, ....yellow light = speed up, OMG, shamed but so true.
I am 61 years old. I came to US in 1987. I am thinking maybe I should go back to Taiwan to retire. I really don't know how much Taiwan has changed in the last 38 years. Ironically I see this through Bob's perspective. It is very interesting to listen your perception of Taiwan.
How the video reached to me. I am from Bangladesh. A few days ago i won gifts because i answered correctly that taiwan makes the most semiconductors in the world. ❤😂
@@ColeFogle I grew up in Taipei, but I love Kaohsiung very much!! I visited there quite often and had a lot of friends down there when I was in Taiwan many years ago
