Retired Saanich police officer worried about portrayal of Reena Virk case in new Hulu series 

no we aren't giving her a break. she is a monster.

My aunt was one of the girls. I was 12 when it happened. I remember watching it on the news and my mother made a "joke" about not being surprised if my aunt was a part of it. Weeks later, we found out she actually was one of the girls. It was a horrible feeling. I was ashamed that my family member could ever be involved in something like this (although i was not surprised). I think about Reena often. Years later, i walked the halls of her school as my son was attending an event there. I felt her presence and it freaked me out. Although, at the time, i didnt know it was her nor did i know she attended that school until the following day. In 2020, I was at a friends house and I was telling them about the Reena Virk story and how my family member was involved. After that conversation, as i was driving home late at night, i witnessed 4 or 5 girls dragging another girl through a dark field by her hair. I heard her scream. I thought of Reena and my family member. I told myself that it ends here. I flashed my highbeams at the girls and started acreaming at them as i called the police. They chased my car, i continued to drive around them as they chased my car in order to keep them occupied until the police arrived. Had i not been at the right place at the right time, that girl could have ended up like Reena. I believe Reena was with me that day. At least she was in my mind and my heart. Sincethe Hulu series has been released, i have been receiving a lot of threatening and harassing messages from complete strangers just for being related to one of the girls. Its a terrible feeling being held responsible by the eyes of the public for something that happened when i was 12 that i didnt even do. I understand i am related to one of the girls, but that doesn't reflect who i am as a person. The Hulu series has a lot of fabrications and half truths to it as well. Perhaps one day, the full awful story will be told. Anyways, rest in eternal peace Reena. Im so sorry for what my family member did to you. Even though i didnt know you personally, you have left a lasting impression on me. I carry you in my heart. Sending much love to you and your family! 🙏🏾💜

I've been watching this on Hulu. I never knew of the story but I'm horrified how senselessly Reena was killed. Kelly is pure evil and all the others are responsible as well.

Why give her a break they never gave Reena Virk a break.

how the hell was kelly ellard allowed to have kids!!?? thats an absolute injustice for those kids to be knowingly raised into that environment. this system is sooo messed.

I feel that all the ones that were involved didn't get enough punishment. I did not see them as bully's. They all had a hand in killing her.

I remember this. I remember Reena and her murder. Horrible. Only 14. She was just a kid. Murdered by other kids.

I started watching because I never heard of the case until now but they are definitely NOT portraying it correctly. On the first episode it showed the fake CCTV footage where she was still alive after being beaten. Not that she was dead in the water. They just find her underwear and jeans. 😢

And the poor sweet girls mother could not carry this grief! They took her life as well! My heart has never stopped grieving. ❤❤❤

Was this the cop who turned down the idea of water check and that Reena was a nothing?

so sad what happened to Reena if only one person would have said no stop and walked away with her it would not have happened. I hope that somebody that hears about it or watched it is that person that says NO

I watched the series, and I am upset hoe they portrayed Reena. They dehumanise her although they claim to want to humanise her. They only paint her in a horrible light but dont show who she was before she met those girls. It felt disrespectful and sensationalised. Reena virk was an afterthought in this series

We knew of her parents they were also Jehovah’s witness’s

1:27 this scene is mentioned in the book. “The low cut top, the curvature of her breasts”. They called her “killer Kelly”

Meh she was an innocent 14 yr old perhaps but she was rebellious and thats what cost her her life.
