Forget the negative narrative perpetuated by some Africans in the Continent and Diaspora.... South Africa is not perfect but in my eyes, a decent country with beautiful people!
Wonderful to see African people coming together from across the seas and enjoying together the simple things in life like inhaling the same air. Can someone help us make this even bigger and long-lasting? Thanks family!
I'm a South African living in Fourways, Johannesburg. Sorry bro those people made a mistake. That mall is definately not the biggest in South Africa and is not even among the best. The biggest and the best Malls are Menlyn Mall (Pretoria), Fourways Mall (Fourways Surburb of Johannesburg), Gateway Theater (Durban), Canal Walk (Cape Town), Waterfront (Cape Town). The name " Mall of Africa" is very misleading.
@@Unmad When you eventually come down to Cape Town do visit another massive mall called Century City, It's very beautiful! God bless you and your family. ❤
I have come to realize the importance of visiting a country and doing extensive research before you move (like Asha did). A lot of the African Diaspora view Africa as a country; as much as that would be ideal but Africa has 54 countries and most of the Black Diaspora don't take into consideration of how different one country is from the next. I for one noticed that there was a hype amongst our AA brothers and sisters about West Africa thus they disregarded the fact that other African countries may resonate and align with them more. What you got from some of these AA who moved to countries they didn't research before was disappointment that led to them to go on an online rampant rage of how people should not move to Africa because of this and that- "No mam/sir your experience in one African country was due to your lack of research." Unless your job transfers you to another country or you move for your loved one; i believe it is very careless to just make a move to a country without proper research and visiting at least one.
@@HiddenKeyElementThe US was no stranger to me as I had frequented it. Also which city to settle in was a huge thing for me because each state has a different feel with its laws and policies outside of the state laws. These are the things one needs to know and have a feel for before any planned move.
African Americans are familiar with West Africa since the majority of people who are living in the US are West Africans and when they learn about their history it was always about West Africa so that region was their exposure to Africa and they thought it is enough because to them Africa isa country and when you say you from Africa and speak different they will be shocked because they expect you to speak in a Ghanaian or Nigerian accent but I think now their eyes are being opened about Africa.
@@realsebsworld3004 No AA is familiar with the continent unless they've visited it. Just because you learned about the history of Nazi Germany doesn't make you familiar with Germany today. Learning about a history that is a 500 years old and wanting to move to a country in 2022 is not the same thing. When you move to a country you have to consider if you can support yourself, will that country have employment for your specific field, will I be able to communicate with people, is their transport system accessible, will my kids get quality education, be familiar with the laws of the country (most countries are not LGBTQ tolerant)and if you will be able to adjust through it all. The same people who thought they know a country through watching RU-vid videos come back to make these tirade videos about how there is no electricity 90% of the time, how they have to negotiate even buying tomato at the market, how they have to pay 2 years rent instead of their usual monthly rental, how there is no accessible medical service etcetera. They would have known all that had they visited the country first to see if it is an environment they can settle in long term.
@@tyali84 you nailed it. They don't do their research PERIOD. And they like calling Africa as though it's a country and they don't do that with Europe or any continent. If someone moves to the UK, they don't say I'm moving to Europe, they will be specific and say I'm moving to the UK. But when it comes to Africa, they just group all 54 countries and say I'm moving to Africa.
Loved this video. It's wonderful to see African Americans living their best lives in the Motherland. And it's great to see that they are being welcomed in their new homes. South Africa looks like such a beautiful country. Dying to visit.
Got up early, missed you by 9 minutes.looked at the over caste sky and frozen garden in Canada and went back to bed. I hope I can catch you live next time. Keep up the vlogs peace and respect from UK Steve and Tanzanian Tina.
Greetings Unapologetic Nomads, it's grand that you're interviewing my Neterian Sistar Asha and it does mean Life. Ankh, Oodja, Senab Aspirant Asha and I have already subscribed to her channel. Believe it or not Nomads, fried meats have very little to no protein and one Almond has more protein than two steaks. We will be visiting our South African cousins in the future through the Blanton's Tourism Service (The Real South Africa), love their channel, great marketing. Thanks for sharing Nomads.
Food prices for South Africans can be expensive but for Americans and other countries food can be cheaper here in South Africa 🇿🇦 or eating out can be cheaper. Yeah I echo those who says South Africa 🇿🇦 is not perfect and it has its own flaws but it’s a beautiful country that has opportunities to grow and start businesses. I am proud of being South African, be African and born in Africa.
Peace and love Family!! I never considered SA as I place of interest to travel for me because of the Apartheid and the amount of Mzungu there... but you guys have completely changed my mind .. I can’t wait to visit!! We are starting our nomadic journey in June coming from South Philly .. I love this channel... soooooooo inspiring and uplifting!! Thank y’all for all u show and discuss on this channel...
@@wot4922 let people have their experience than they will choose were to live,Africa has 52 countries so they can have choice if you got nothing to say about SA just sit down
@@wot4922 you probably focus on whats bad in South Africa even Nigeria theres is no security, but people do visit there. Each and every country has its own problem they are not 100%,even the mighty America black people get killed by police. As a South African i know we lost 1 of us in Honolulu in Hawaii,no place is better until you experience it and injoy it.Again with no fear or favour sit down if you have nothing to say

OMG, I saw Blacks without Borders in like 2011 and I was convinced that I should move to Africa. Previously, i had just wanted to visit. THat documentary really sells African American life in Africa..
@@prettynerd4779 Great just dont fall into the trap and think all of Africa is the same ,sa is vastly different from many African countries and the complexes of each country differs tremendously. So search each country on its own merits dont lump africa in one happy basket .I hope my point come across clear and respectfully.
@@elroysquare2527 LOL well I have travelled to the continent several times to different countries.. I think I got this buddy 😉... Also, try not to be condescending.. you never know who you are talking too.
It’s too early to answer some of those questions especially about sea food, coz the nomads haven’t traveled the SA coastline YET, especially Cape Town. Still very early days
No disrespect but you simply cannot compare Tanzania to SA. Respectfully, these two countries may both be in Africa but definitely not in the same league so to speak. Respectfully
@@kingfufudurban9462 you cannot even compare it to Egypt, Morocco and Algeria in terms of modern infrastructure and just the ease of life and accessibility of what the rest of the world has. South Africa overall makes it a better location because not only does it give you great modern infrastructure and natural beauty but access to amenities, services and convenience that you might not even find in countries that you've mentioned. Egypt, Morocco and Algeria have amazing old architecture and historical sites but just existing in that part of the world one comes with challenges of conservative life, and laws that don't provide a lifestyle of modern day society.
@@kingfufudurban9462 have you seen how dusty Egypt and decaying buildings are? If you thought joburg CBD is bad, Cairro is far far worse. Yes Egypt is growing afatser than SA but it is still has so much to do for it to be close to SA
@@kingfufudurban9462 as and Ethiopian SA is best than those north africans and subsharan africans when we talk about development i don't know about society
The Mall of Africa is not the biggest Mall in SA. It used to be for a couple of months and then other malls upgraded. The biggest Mall in SA according to the latest stats is Fourways Mall which is not far from there. Then seconded by Menlyn which is in Pretoria. Then I think third is Gateway in Durban then Sandton Mall if not the one in Cape Town.
Correction: The biggest mall in Africa is the Fourways Mall, which is about a 20-minute drive from the Mall of Africa. The common confusion comes from the Mall of Africa being marketed as "the largest mall to be completed in one phase of construction" by its developers. Fourways Mall started off as a smaller mall, but has had a number of upgrades and expansions over the years.
Great video guys. Keep it up. There's nothing wrong with asking which city or country someone prefers. The why helps those who haven't been decide where to go. I'm African (not South African) and I prefer Cape Town, South Africa because of the weather (except the wind), the amazing food and the vibe of the city which is like being in Europe and Africa at the same time. It doesn't mean all other African cities are not worthy. If we're more objective and less sensitive, we can accept people not preferring things we love.
Well, most African countries are beautiful but in terms of development, South Africa is the closest nation to any Western nation despite some of its other challenges. It’s good that the chicken taste there is good. In the 1980s it was not because a missionary friend who went to Zambia for short term preaching used to enjoy the Zambian chicken than the South African chicken because of preservatives. Good that the chickens there are now free from preservatives. Enjoy your stay in South Africa. It is part of the motherland.
Some of the poultry in SA is imported from Brazil. We however consume more than 80% of local poultry. I now buy 100% local but some fast food joints use imported chicken and you can taste the difference.
When she said black without borders i felt that, on my youtube channel i share experiences of being african without borders, im Zimbabwean, currently living in sa, already planning to move to another african country to share the African narrative.
Mall of Africa has never been the biggest mall in Africa, not even in SA, however Mall of Africa is the biggest mall in Africa to ever been built at that phase and scale. The biggest mall in SA is Four-ways and second in Africa SA has 2 400 malls and second is Nigeria with 246 malls
Mall of Africa is like #5 in Africa and South Africa the biggest mall is #1 Sandton mall, #2 Menlyn mall #3 mall in Cape town (forgot the name) #4 mall in Durban (forgot the name) #5 Fourways mall then this mall comes in #6 mall of Africa
I stayed in Jo'burg for a short time in early 2000's beautiful place. I worked doing a big festival, meet up with Hugh Masakela family as my godfather knew the family and connected us but at the time it was alot of problems going on still it was too much and I didn't have foundation of me to really help me see what could be possible in time. Congratulations ☀️you're 8n the sweet spot now lots of black lost their live so we could be in the shade. ☀️☀️🌳🌳 every blessing 🙏🏾
Tiny correction Nomads; Mall Of Africa isn’t the biggest mall in Africa; it is the biggest mall in Africa ever built in ONE face. So there are bigger malls, just built in several phases. 🙂
One thing I've realized abt Jhb is that it has a lot of best things/options and that ppl are spoilt for choice. Personally I like the Bedford Centre & Hyde Park Corner & The Zone. I am happy to eat at Doppio Zero while someone may prefer Moyo or at those Soweto's elite restaurants. 😂😂 So, it's easy for a visitor to be confused between all these exotic choices, frm suburbs , hotels to eateries. Lol. 😂😂 (Nt saying I am rich, 😂😂)
Welcome home family, I thank God to keep me to expreince this black American coming back home Africa. Here you are our sisters, brothers, mothers and fathers. Enjoy the spirit of Ubuntu. South Africa is a beautiful country check out Eastern Cape as well to experience some raw culture.
You are right it is so unnecessary, I mean SA i way more developed compared to other countries. morroco or Algeria even Egypt all don't come close to SA. We should let people enjoy the country, settle if they want to without being asked choosing questions
Brother sounded like you just didn't want to burn bridges with Tanzania, however in comparison to all the countries on the continent South Africa is 1st world an some countries are still 3rd world and compared to America and Jozi can hold its own against most States in America 🇺🇸 won't even mention CAPETOWN 🙄
He is correct in not burning bridges don't ever burn your bridges besides the people of tz ,Rwanda ,Burundi etc have been good to the family and we as south african will continue to show love to them ,we not in competition here with our fellow brothers and sisters that message needs to be clear. We just can't accept a false narrative spread across many yt platforms. They must enjoy sa without falling into the trap of comparisons.
