One version has the bag, one the whip, and one neither. So to get 3 figures, one each, with both accessories you would have to buy 3 raiders 1 temple and 3 crusade. That's evil, Hasbro.
I love this retro line. It's a shame that Indy's bag wasn't included with all of his figures. I wasn't prepared to spend nearly £30 to get two more bags, so I made a mould of the bag and cast my own. 🤠
I’m glad we are getting characters we never had. If they are going to do this, they should definitely expand the line. I totally agree with you on the accessories. I think the Grail should have come with Henry Jones Sr. and Indy should have had his whip and Temple Indy DEFINITELY needed the satchel. The new Sallah is pretty cool though. Thank you for the share Dave. Cheers!
It’s a shame that they didn’t produce any villains for Temple of Doom and Last Crusade. We need a Mola Ram and Colonel Vogel. Maybe a generic German soldier.
I agree Dave, overall I'm glad I bought them all but I'm keeping all mine carded. The Henry Jones figure you are absolutely right, just an umbrella that doesn't fit in his hand and I know these are retro look, but the 2008 Henry did have a bag, brolly, seperate hat, seperate glasses, grail diary, and top secret mystery gift in the box and the sculpts were much harder and all for £7.99! It seems Hasbro have been a bit lazy with these. All of my cardbacks were bent when I received them too, all 10 of them. I'd like to see them complete the original ones from the 80s but they need to improve the quality of them a bit and yes, more quality control.
Thanks for the great review! Not a fan of Retro figures at all, but I'll be getting Sallah, as he's the only figure never before represented in 3.75 (the LC version, anyway.)
My local toy shop has got last crusade indie for real cheap, I’m picking up a couple more to equip both my existing retro indie and my Kenner original with bags
Over here in Australia we don’t seem to be getting all of the carded figures for each wave. I’ve not seen any for Temple of Doom, I can’t find Marion from Raiders and we only have Sallah for the Last Crusade wave. Very frustrating.
That's how I cut the bubble, as close to the card as possible leaving the plastic in place instead or tearing the card art. It's not perfect but it's better.
Yeah it’s nice to be able to get these at a budget price, but as you say, still a few short comings, just the shoulder bag transforms the figure. Cheers for sharing Dave
Indy with his bag, chalice, and gun is looking like a woman at a mixer whose gotten snookered and pulled a weapon after some other bird has made a passing remark she didn't appreciate. Sallah And Dr Henry just seem like perfunctory vintage Kenner 'just a symbolic toy face sculp' -you have to pretend they are the actor's characters. At least the card art photos are classy. Sean Connery's looking like a college professor on holiday, which I guess he basically was ,like present day 'Disney Indy'...😒Well, as a set they all vibe together cutely
I always love watching your reciews, Dave! You're thorough and super-honest about the pros and cons! These figurers are okay, I guess, but they do have their cons. Dr Henry Jones Sr looks more like Richard Dreyfuss than Sean Connery! lol I'm not enamored with any of these figures in the line, if I'm honest. I'm too spoiled rotten, I reckon! It's just that I am fortunate enough to have an original '82 Indi figure, and the head sculpt (and overall body sculpt too) is WAAAAAYYYY better than these newer, softer plastic versions. The newer ones have kind of a chubbier faces, the eyes are a bit weird, and the chins often seem reduced or just weaker. This results in the more round-head look that I'm not enjoying much. And thenk you have all the QC issues, the inferior packaging, things not fitting in hosters, hands etc. These are just not up to snuff for me to want to collect, but I at least they're available for those who want them. I mean, the originals are pretty rare to find today, and they are very expensive to get, so I'm not trying to hate on these. They're just not really for me. I can appreciate them for what the are, I suppose.
All of my Amazon orders for Retro Indi and RotJ have by now been cancelled after I pre ordered them months ago and they promised me even a price reduction. Big disappointment, to the point that I won't even try to get them somewhere else. I'm done with the Retro line. They look cool but I can live without them. Good review as always, Sir!
I just got them today. Sallah doesn't even have the holes in his feet for a base/stand! WTF?!? I ended up buying multiple Indy's with the bag to add the bag to the ToD Indy, the Raiders Indy, and my original 1980's Indy & the Map Room Indy. Yeah, 4 extra LC Indy's just for the darn bag! Then I had to get two more Raiders Indy's to add the missing whip to ToD & LC Indy as they both are missing the whip. Really disappointing Hasbro...
Regarding the "missing" accessories, I can't remember the product name but i seem to recall you using a thermo-set putty to make moulds before, just wondering if this could work as having to buy extras just to kit out the figures seems off message and not very toy polloi
There is still time. But I get the feeling this maybe all that gets made. When the new indy film has been and gone this line will end. That's my thoughts.
@@toypolloi I too was thinking the same . Alas you will bring down the wrath of many on thee....you distroy lego 😮 you restore toys useing styrine 😮 . And you teach others to follow your example and have fun with Their toys . And now we are forgers 😮😮😮 . Tsk ,tsk , tsk . 😂😂. Good idea/ comment . Yes lets make our own .👍
honestly, apart from the nostalgia, I don t know what you find interesting in those... looking at them now, I see 'happy meals' s stuff. it s criminal to ask more than $2 each for those. man, they are so crummy, barely look like the characters, barely move at all... their construction dates back to the 'adventure people' at very best. it looks like somebody designed them on a 15 min break time. they re worth a good laugh and praise God we ve moved forward since. the lego versions look like masterpieces compared to this. AND they have multiple tools that they can actually grab properly. now you show us that Kenner has played cheap on accessories on top of it? wow, you can t make this up, it s just too bad to be believed. they should have done a multi pack to have an excuse to give so little. nobody under 30 will get these figs, it s for 80s guys that missed on them. Mc D should really give Hasbro a call to buy the whole collection wholesale, I m sure I ll get this 'deja vu' experience of what happened to that line in 82. I ll be checking for them in the dollar stores in about 6 months for a laugh. I understand your feelings though, it must bring back tons of memories from your childhood I guess. good show bro.
These figures have been bad from the start.. Marion no stand or flower on her dress. Indys whip handle looks like a megaphone. Short round no NY on his hat, guns bent, cardbacks flimsy and cheap and TOD indy sword loose in bubble! Who ever the designers were should all be fired!
I'm afraid that there will be no new figures in this series. There will be no Willie Scott, there will be no Mola Ram, there will be no Arab swordsman and a man with a monkey, there will be no Belloc in a suit, there will be no Elsa and the Knight. That's all Hasbro was capable of.
