Retro MX Reviews # 6: 2004 Honda CR 125 (and how to fix the electronic RC Valve!) 

Hi Brian, I apologize and I should have taken some pics of the process, but it is pretty straighforward. I included the important information in the video description as far as parts you will need, that was the hardest part to track down, especially that gear. It's been a year since the video and I'm happy to report that it is still functioning properly. BUT if I was doing it again, I would probably go back to the mechanical setup, from what I can tell all you need is the governor and linkage and it should bolt on to the right side of the cylinder. The side case is the same. Extra electronics and cables like that on a dirt bike were a terrible idea to fix a non-problem.

That's a great point on the soil. I actually did my first shakedown ride on this bike at GTR, which is sandy. The powervalve wasn't working right so I wedged it open. It was definitely a challenge to keep it on the pipe in the sand. The track in the review has some elevation but was 100% manicured hardpack dirt. It's definitely not as fast or hard hitting as a YZ of that year. I think it's fine for beginners but anyone fast is going to want more motor. A friend of mine said there was some sort of mod to epoxy the transfer ports and reshape them that was pretty good.

I feel like those carbs for a 125 may be overkill, although I admit I've never ridden with one. But with a 125 you basically have to be wide open. I'd start with the stock jetting specs, FMF and Pro Circuit both have recommended jetting specs on their websites but keep in mind those are both for California temp and elevation. Unless you are at some extreme elevation and temperature, stock should be pretty close most of the time. Hope this helps!
