I had one of the original FZR 600’s in the late 80’s in silver in black, very reminiscent. It looks fab but even though I’m late 50’s, the detailing on the Street Triple I have now is so much nicer than the Japanese bikes. Love that ally fairing stay with the cir-clips though
Love the concept, cracking engine with the right power, brilliant looks. This would be very cool to turn up and ride to bike night, or a track day. Don’t like the upper fairing brace, I never did on 90s GSXR or ZX6, and hope this is cosmetically removable. But overall, a big win. Goes in my lottery garage.
I was looking at the XSR900 last year, but a test ride told me the rear shock needed an upgrade. Have they fixed that on this model? BTW it needs a 3rd party to make a lower fairing, it looks like its been crashed at the moment. Also needs a tail tidy.
Great bike but here in NZ it's 4k more expensive than the standard XSR? The MT09sp is the one with the upgraded suspension & brake and 4k cheaper, I think Yamaha have stuffed up here by being too gready.
The amount of pre orders this bike has in the UK & Europe would suggest Yamaha have it spot on. The New Zealand market is relatively small in the grand scale of things.👍🏻
A stunning looking thing. It's a shame it's mass produced as many others will be in the car park. Ps A proper professional review from a guy that knows his stuff. No comedians or nonsense. Perfect👌
Buy a new liter bike like a zx10r or r1 or cbr1000rr or gsxr1000. Those liter bikes need their sales numbers up to keep the inline 4 engines alive. You will have a bigger blast on those too
This will be less of a wherlie machine due to the longer swing arm but will be more stable at higher speeds, also a bit heavier... but the fairing would be very welcome. I have the gen3 MT09 SP but tbh I'd probably go for this over the gen4.
A great video of stating the obvious. Useful if it was targeted at the visually impaired. In summary, it's a retro looking sports bike. Got it. Thanks.
I have to start out by saying that I absolutely LOATHE "retro" bikes like the triumph twins, BSA etc. I lived through that era and 40,50 and 60 years' worth of development should not be ditched just so that a bike can supposedly "Look good". But this is a completely different animal. It may LOOK like a bike from the 80s and 90s but that hasn't resulted in using idiotic technology like twin shocks and large capacity engines which struggle to outperm engines half their size. I think that the only part of the aesthetic that I don't care for is the letter box headlight. which I've always thought look stupid and don't perform well either. And that brings me on to the other problem that I have with the design; no pillion! For someone who has a habitual pillion, not having the option is an absolute deal breaker for me. Sorry Yamaha. So very close, but no sale here, not even a test ride.
@@jamesmccombe1895 Yeah, I only saw that in about the 4th video I'd seen of the bike. What is really quite annoying is that there don't seem to be ANY videos of the bike without the cowling.
