This looks really good man. I can't wait to get it and put it in T2. Those guns hit so much better than the arcade1up guns. It's going to give that cabinet so much more playtime.
I have been waiting on this review thank you this weekend i am ordering either this or the mod buystuff this weekend then whichever next weekend really appreciate your time on this, talk to u tomorrow morning
Great detailed review. This kit is sick, and very affordable. Like Mikes comment below. I bet most of the people in our community are going to put this in their T2 cab. Happy Friday and we will talk to you soon.
Thanks Matt :) this is the easiest way to get as close to your multicade for a plug and play option. When I first saw an ad on instagram for this I thought it was too good to be true, then reviews came out and wow it’s amazing! Have a great weekend Matt, talk to you soon 👊
Thank you Daryl, I’m impressed with this I thought it was too good to be true. Definitely worth for T2, I’ll show it off soon :) how’s the weather in FL? It’s turning into fall up here.
It's still hot here. I'm hoping for some cooler weather soon. I'll wait to see this on your T2 before I decide to bite the bullet on this one. Thanks again.
It’s unbelievable Benji! I knew this was good when I ordered I just didn’t know it would be this good, I might have screwed up ordering Time Crisis lol The standard encoder board from Buy stuff is just over 100 so you can always keep your T2 control panel the same and keep new guns where T2 guns go.Thanks for watching :) Have a good weekend 👊
I finally picked up the retro shooter PD7. Well I placed the order they are out of stock at the moment but they will begin shipping on the 15th of November. I will definitely give you my thoughts on it. But by the looks of it I’m sure I will definitely enjoy it. Thanks again for your videos.
Thank you for letting me know Julio :) you’ll love it man! Nerdlounger84 ordered one too and he’s waiting for the 15th too. You should get it this month, best and easiest mod they make 👊
Nice video - you'll have your T2 Integration kit soon to do the follow-up! A couple quick clarifications if it's okay: To get to the exit menu, you just need to hold the start button down, not both. To turn recoil to single shot, push the D-Pad button in for a second or so - then it's not as annoying. For the easiest way to get to the settings menu, plug in a keyboard and hit "0". And you should not need to plug in a controller to navigate the menus - trigger is the "A" button. Cheers!
Excellent coverage of the Retro Shooter Pandora's Box Light Guns. I know this video is older, but how can we add the newer games (Mad Dog, Revolution X, etc)? I updated my Box, but they're not there. I bought the set-up just before they updated the gun muzzles & added the 2 extra sensors. A video detailing how it's done would be great, as I'm not the most computer-literate guy. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much!
Thank you :) are you on fb? Buystuff Arcades page has instructions how to update your box and download a few more games. I’m not either but it’s not bad there’s a few suggestions on which usb hub to buy, it takes about 2 hours to download file but it will work. If you need any help please let me know. Posting is probably 1-2 months old may have to scroll down a bit.
Maybe one day we'll get a one box does everything but these companies wouldn't be in business. Thanks for showing more than one game I've seen so many damn videos on here lately and they show one or two games and I'm like yeah we know it has time crisis I want to see if it has aliens and all that other stuff cuz there's a lot more light gun games out there then just the usual suspects that people want to play. I don't want to every year keep buying another box because it has one or two games on it so I haven't finished your video so maybe you were going to touch on adding games at the end but cool video.
Thanks Joel 👊 Besides T2 I have used my Sinden on iircade for Operation Wolf / Thunderbolt. I couldn’t get the Sinden to work right on bobbycera this is filling that void :)
Nice review, I’m about to upgrade my home built arcade machine for PB5 to PB10th and plan to add on the retro shooter. I also see the kit now comes with 4 sensors, I assume the accuracy and speed will be greatly improved. I’m not sure if anyone pointed out but it is 515 pages of games (5145 games) Awesome upgrade from my 960 in 1. I might be able to retire my old CRT and Gcon45’s now?
Yea I messed up with the games list :) I see the new 4 sensors I just noticed when playing 2 players it’s a little weird playing. I can see why they upgraded, I’m going to have to add two more on the bottom to avoid accuracy with 2 players. You’ll absolutely love this! Thanks for watching 👊
Hey buddy, will be ordering this. Question though, what if I want to keep my T2 cab as is, but hook this into a different 1up? It would work as well wouldn’t it? For example, I have an extra SF2 cab…wondering
You could but would have to figure a way to mount guns on front or side of cab and have access to gaming box. It does connect with HDMI so as long as you have that you’re good. Buy stuff does have a few options encoder board, 1 player deck and 2 player deck too.
I've heard bad and good on this kit for the right price I think its a decent solution and I have it on my consider list. Since I dropped all the money on the sinden its going with the batocera retrolizard build for now, but this looks like a good plug in play on the cheap solution, the sad thing is this a better g/ns than what a1up puts out plus some real bangers are included, congrats on the pickup.
Hi Carl, you’ve got a great kit with your batocera retrolizard build he’s the best! Trust me I would’ve have went that route if I hadn’t picked this up. It is a bummer these guns are a step up from A1up, I’m looking forward to compare this inside of T2 when TC ships out. First review without Ms Lucky it was hard, but I made it through. Thank you Carl :)
@PDX7 Those Sinden guns are very difficult to set up if you are not a computer expert. Not to mention, I paid $450 for 2 Sinden guns, another $250 for the games external hard drive, and another $500 for the PC that is only powerful enough to run retro shooters. So to play more modern shooter games I still need to upgrade my PC. Got a 32" screen Jurassic Park shooter cab from Game Room Solutions in my arcade. So over all, already invested $1800 in my shooter cab.
@Excaidus-Metal these builds are pricey not to mention our hobby :) I would’ve too if this never came out. I’ve been really looking forward to playing these games at home. Free plays are great, but there’s nothing like having this to play anytime soon:)
This might be slightly better, I also found that the Buystuff Star Wars mod that has T2 plays a little better than A1up too. I’m pretty impressed with this kit and if you decide to put in your T2 cab it’s really going to seem like an arcade experience.
Sorry I left that out, they feel a lot harder than T2 1up, but not as solid as a Sinden light gun. I was impressed when I picked them up not the best but definitely not the worst. For the price it plays and feels really good.
The guns feel pretty good, lighter than a Sinden with recoil but heavier than the T2 guns. I say just about the right weight, not a hollow feeling at all. The recoil is really really loud and gets obnoxious after a few minutes. You can turn it off or have single shot if you want.
Thank you Peter ! Great, it’s so good you won’t need the Time Crisis cab if you’re just looking for Point Blank, Steel Gunner 1&2 and TC. If you have a T2 I really think this will be epic to play on an arcade. Thanks for watching 👊
@@PDX7 a weak point is that the point blank games don’t save high scores since they are console versions. Point blank is a score chasing games so it’s a deal breaker for me . I wonder why they did not use the NAME versions . Maybe a PC build in the future.
@petermacnab1871 we could always add more games on here if we pickup the 24.97 box. I’m hoping Buystuff will have new versions down the road like their racers we can just change out.
My Xbox controller DOESN'T work. I don't know what to do. It lights up, but it didn't register any button, the analog stick or the D-pad. It's VERY frustrating. It works perfectly fine on my PC. Any idea???
@davids8aff lol nice! There’s a new upgrade on their site for two more sensors and replacement lens on the guns. There were some issues for two players and this will work a lot better, but it’s another $90
At checkout in retro shooter there will be a 24.95 exclusive that pops up this allows you to hook a pc up and add any games you want. I didn’t notice any Sega master system games, but hooking to pc you could have everything.
Thought about it, but after watching how many of the games play poorly (like HoTD) with rendering issues and bad framerates, I decided to pass. Probably the best "no hassle" solution, though.
Yea it’s perfect for a guy like me, but you’re right Paul it’s definitely not perfect it’s good enough :) I’m really looking forward to playing this on T2 cab. Thanks for watching man 👊
Hi John, if you purchase their additional box ( 24.97 ) you can connect to a pc and load anything else you want. This will pop up after you select which kit you want. Thanks for watching 👊
No, You cannot add more games to the pandoras box that it comes with. You can however, get the pc module (fire base) and then you can pretty much do whatever you want with the guns. Honestly, though the pandoras box that it comes with is not good.
@@Jrm0724 Cool. Just be aware that not all games will perform well and some, are just terrible. But otherwise, for the price, it's well worth everything you get.
@@PDX7 I want to get it but I would like to buy the alternative smaller ir emitters and wiring from buystuff but I'm in the UK. Anyone know the brand of the smaller ones? I know it's a long shot. 😅
@@PDX7 Can't wait to see what you can do. I don't know if you remember I got my micro after watching your video on it, or atleast waited for the next sale they had on them. Hows your micro doing,You upgrading to hd? No space on my end but if they make an Indiana Jones I think I'll make some space. Thanks for the vids.
@astrofive620 I remember:) it’s good to hear from you! I had to sell mine to make space knowing the 4k is coming. I’m interested in Star Trek so I haven’t preordered Addams Family because I’m waiting for more skins. Thank you for saying hi 👊
Yes I watched Retro Lizards he’s a Pro Victor, when it comes to lightguns he’s the best. It’s not perfect by any means, but it’s the easiest way to bring some of the best shooting games to our home. Once Buystuff has their encoder board and control deck this should really feel like an arcade. Thanks for watching Victor 👍
He also did a follow-up showing that they work much better when you use them on a PC as opposed to the Pandora Box console. Almost all of the problems people are having are because of the console not the guns themselves.
FOMO. Its fun, but its not worth the "full price". The current sale price is all its worth. My guess is constant sales will occur. Fall sale, holiday sale, etc.
You’re right Decade nt Dave, you would think by now someone would figure this out :) best case alternative is to tuck away in T2 arcade or Legends Ultimate at least you wouldn’t see the cords. Thanks for watching man!
There are a couple of reasons for this. Most importantly the power needed to operate the solenoid (recoil) in these guns would drain any battery charge dead in no time. Also it's a "retro" thing. All the old games you would be playing with this device had guns that were tethered with a cable. For nostalgia reasons I want my arcade machine to present controls that allow me to play the games the way I would have back in the day in the arcade. Is an analog stick better than a eight-way joystick? Of course it is! But when I'm playing an arcade game I want a nice clicky joystick with micro switches every time.
The sound is the recoil feature that allows these guns (and others) to provide an authentic arcade-like experience. Since most of the arcade games that use light guns had a recoil feature in the guns. As has been stated you can turn it off if you don't like it. I honestly believe these guns have a more pleasing sound than some of the other ones on the market. Especially the Sinden's that can't even keep up and start to die down after a few seconds of automatic fire.
