I'm basically captain claw. After months of nothing, here's a video I've gotten quite a bit of requests for. It's one that I've wanted to make for quite some time, and took me a while to make as well. so hope you guys enjoy!
Someone needs to make a petition for this game to get a remaster. Nightdive treatment for this game is very much needed at this point.

This game is very popular in india because this was one of the earliest local indian budget "demo CD" release titles ...People were content playing the demo levels as no one could go further in the this game.This game was easily circulated via the demo discs as they were not copy protected. I still have a copy of the indian release

Beat it back in the day, then as an adult gave away the box and cd, which I obviously now regret... That is one game from my childhood I will never forget.

Great review! There's one aspect you explained really well here: the sheer impact of the nostalgia and great feelings the game gives you. It's true that whoever plays this feels something different from other games, something special. You could play this game for a lifetime and it would not be a wasted life. Take it from me, who has played through the game over 10000 times and counting, I still get the same elated happy feeling whenever I boot up the game and start that first level and "it's back to prison boys!" it hasn't diminished one bit over the years. I believe that eventually this game will get a sequel or a remaster since a high majority of its players still love it and make great content for it. Until then, keep it up and who knows... maybe a speedrun one day?

Claw came out in that strange time, when demo cd's where faded out, yet the internet wasn't as wide spread as today. Simply, not a lot of people knew about claw, because there was no demo to play and gaming mags (like cgw, pcgamer) didnt really care about 2d platformers.

This game's one of my childhood favorites...it's the first PC game I ever played on my first desktop, among NFS Porsche and Re-volt. When I saw you have the original bigbox in such pristine condition, I couldn't help but sigh at it in awe. that's a rare beauty, no doubt...it's well worth around 500 bucks nowadays, if not more...really really cool piece

You make me want to go look through my old boxes to check the box out in its pristine glory. I recall visiting a nearby towns bookstore through whom we specially ordered Captain Claw as a young kid together with my dad. I should still have that old box (opened and used) sitting around somewhere together with my JJ2 and Worms 2/Armageddon boxes (seriously, I loved all those games and this video made me realize how good the taste of kiddo me was!), although I suspect my means of ad-hoc storage probably did it no favors over the years. Time will tell. I honestly am not sure if I finished the game as a kid. I think I did. But maybe it took me a few years? I do have this distinct memory of experiencing the ending before the RU-vid era though.

@@Garadares No problem. Sorry for getting your hopes up; the 'best' stuff among what I found was old boxes for Airfix Dogfighter, Worms 2 and Jazz Jackrabbit 2. Of course, those boxes pale in comparison to Claw's... 😢

Just have the v1.0 disc I got from the sound blaster speakers sbs16. I could not complete the final boss in v1.0 for a very long time then a friend living across the street told me he had finished the game and dint find it as too hard. I trusted the gamer in me and wanted to see what could be the miss on my part, then realized that he had the v1.2 which had easier bosses! borrowed the disc from him and spent a weekend finishing the game…good memories! 😅
