Please join me on my 3 day , 2 night hike into my special place, Keeha Bay.I was joined by my younger friend Lydia. I had been there many times in my earlier years and longed to go back one more time. After doing some training for some weeks previous to setting out I felt I could tackle to roots and mud on the trail. This place has always held a very special place in my heart. How great it was to see it one more time.

Beautiful couple of days. It’s the simple joys of tides, sand, fresh air, critters, and friendship shared that make life good. Nice to see you make it back to a favorite place, Wendy.

Hi Bonnie- I assume you refer to Raft cove on the island here. I was there several years ago. Hiked in with a girl friend. Loved it there. would be fun to go again. Interesting how certain places just speak to you. Hope you can go again.

Great video! Thanks for taking us on your adventures Wendy! Brought back loads of fond memories of trips out to Pacific Rim Nat'l Park & hiking the West Coast Trail in the late 1970s & early 1980s.

New subscriber from Cochrane, Alberta here. That brought back memories of hiking the West Coast Trail 15 years ago with my husband when I was 40. So beautiful! I love that coast! I'm surprised nobody else was there - what time of year was this? Great to see more women solo hiking/camping. I've been going on a week-long vacation alone the past few years, doing some hiking and cycling. It definitely gives me a different sense of satisfaction than when I do it with someone else. But I always get lots of question from others about why I'm going alone, aren't I afraid, etc.

left Sunday early via Alberni before the road closure then waited Tuesday til 5 to return. for those who don't know a forest fire has made the main route dangerous for travel so restrictions are in place.

Hello from North Pole Alaska. Feel encouraged and have hope to sometime this summer to go out for a little camp out. Is it best to hike with walking sticks or poles ?
@wendyoutdoors2230
@wendyoutdoors2230 3 месяца назад
I used to use a walking stick in my younger days but I now find that adjustable hiking poles are better for me. I find my balance and strength are not what they were. The poles help me up and over obstacles and hills, steady me on the down hills. all positive.

Hi Wendy--Keeha Beach is a pretty beach! I'm glad that Lydia joined you so you could share in your adventure. When you pitched your tent, how far from the ocean did you set up camp? I camped north of you near Tofino with a friend many years ago. The First Nations' people whose ancestors lived here before we did treated the land, trees, animals, and fish as sacred with respect, only taking what they needed. I can see why it's a sacred place for you, too, and holds a special place in your heart. ❤ 🐙🐡🐬🦭🌊Jenny
@wendyoutdoors2230
@wendyoutdoors2230 2 месяца назад
thank you Jenny- We pitched our tent well above the high tide line. I once woke in the night to someone down the beach from me hollering as the ocean crept up on them and soaked them. I bet they never did that again. I took a lesson from their experience too.
