We have the most requested new vehicle by you, the viewers! Our Spotlight of the 2018 Lincoln Navigator Reserve 4x4. Read our full review: goo.gl/9tyFUx
Watch our PRN_tech episode going into more depth with the rear entertainment system on this Lincoln Navigator: • Can You Xbox in a Linc...
Back in the winter we had the chance to feature the 2018 Cadillac Escalade Platinum, and we crowned it the undisputed champion of the full-size luxury SUV market. But a lot of people assumed it was due to it's features and quality, and they didn't actually watch our full episode. The Escalade is a volume seller, and easily the most popular in the segment sold here in North America. But the folks over at Lincoln think they have a solution to GM's sweetheart. • Undisputed SUV Champio...
Enter the 2018 Lincoln Navigator Reserve 4x4. Sold only with AWD here in Canada, and with only two trim options, our test model is about as fully loaded as it comes, with the 30-way adjustment front seats, rear entertainment system, and heavy-duty towing package. While we aren't comparing it side-by-side to the Escalade, we do recommend watching that episode first if you're interested in full-size American luxury SUVs.
Our full tour and review of this Lincoln Navigator Reserve goes over all the exterior and interior features, along with seat comfort and overall space. We take the car on a road test to talk about it's 450 horsepower, 510 lb-ft of torque engine, and how this behemoth of a vehicle performs on typical roads.

We certainly hope so! It's been amazing to watch this channel grow over the past year, we had around 1,700 this time last year. Aside from being able to hire an actual editor, I would love to be able to grow this channel enough to bring on full-time professional help to seriously improve the quality of our production.

Actually, these have been selling so fast in the US that dealers can't keep them in stock and Ford can't meet the demand. I think that cross-shopping shoppers are deciding that the independent rear suspension, turbo V-6 engine and aluminum body are all big advantages over the older Escalade design. The 2nd and third rows are bigger than in the Escalade too.
@PRNTestDrive
@PRNTestDrive 6 лет назад
We've heard that from some commenters on our Escalade video, it's why we made a mention of it near the end. Perhaps the inventory of 2018s is mostly in the US if they're selling out of them so quickly, because up here we haven't seen a single 2018 on the road aside from this press vehicle, and that includes our trip back to Toronto a couple months ago where we should have seen more in that region.
@geoffk777
@geoffk777 6 лет назад
Yes, it's very possible that the supply problems in the US have prevented Ford from exporting very many yet. I think that Ford did a nice job of treading the line on the Navigator design. It's flashy enough so that it appeals to urban Escalade buyers, but not so much so that it scares off upscale buyers who might consider a Range Rover or Lexus.
@Tonyx.yt.

geoffk777 no indipendent rear suspension for escalade? That's a shame for such expensive luxury car, probably becuase use a truck platoform...
@geoffk777
@geoffk777 6 лет назад
Yes, the rear space is actually rather limited in the Escalade as a consequence. GM had considered putting in an independent rear suspension for the last revision in 2015, but the 2009 GM bankruptcy meant that the funding for it was cancelled, so the basic platform is the same as in 2002. An Escalade with a better suspension isn't due until 2020.
@PRNTestDrive
@PRNTestDrive 6 лет назад
We did find the space in the Navigator to work out decently, we had guests in from out of town so we made good use of it. Getting in and out for the trunk passengers was decent. We would have included it in the video but we wrapped all the production and editing before they really arrived. It certainly felt a bit roomier over the Escalade from memory.

Maybe it's just me but I think the interior has alot in common with the Mercedes ML. This is way nicer than the Escalade. GM needs to get things right in terms of modern luxury. And as always! another great video PRN!

I really do like this interior better than the Escalade, I think it's different enough from the Expedition to make the jump up worth it, and offers a lot of wood and leather throughout. Haven't had a chance to see the new MLs though, but we'll see if we can take a look!

That driver was so painfully slow, they had to have been driving 20kph in the 100m I had to drive behind them. Worst part was I ripped it past them to get to my street only to find them nosing their way down after I pulled into my driveway.

Just bought a 2019 Navigator. The rear of the navigator certainly looks better than the tacky looking full sized stationwagon-like brakelights of the escalade. To each his own I guess.

Ford & Lincoln did a better job of distinguishing the exterior & interior of the Expedition & Navigator compared to the Chevy, GMC, & Cadillac SUVs

We agree, and that's why we mentioned it during our video. Unlike the GM vehicles which really share a lot of the same parts, the Navigator really feels like a completely different vehicle over the Expedition, inside and out. One huge plus over GM for sure.

We do what we can! It's a little easier to get brand new vehicles when requested, based on what's available. Things like the Navigator work well, since everyone wants to see the fully loaded version, and the manufacturer wants to show it off as well.

It’s hard to say a 2018 can/will be unreliable just because some older models by the manufacturer have had complaints. It’s hard to speculate with any new vehicle, and sometimes can take a decade to find out about flaws that lead to recalls.

I really hate it when people elevate Mercedes and the lot as better when a lot of times they are not. Also the issues and cost of ownership on those cars are crazy so you pay twice. Finally the purchase price of a Lincoln or Cadillac are just as high as a Benz so people don't buy Lincolns because they can't afford a Benz. That attitude just irks me from a lot of "reviewers"....the dash board felt weak!

The Mercedes S-Class is certainly the gold standard for luxury, but a base 2018 S 450 4matic is $106,000, and while it probably has a lot of the same features this Navigator has (minus the enhance safety tech), it's always going to end up being a base model S-Class. It would be an interesting video to do though! Is the base S-Class worth it. You just gave us a great idea, thanks!

I cant figured out any reason for need to use 93 octane on a big and old school naturaly aspirated v8 meanwhile a twin turbo v6 with double of power per liter can use regular gas... Im sure is for some marketing reason...
@PRNTestDrive
@PRNTestDrive 6 лет назад
I was surprised too! At first I thought we might be wrong about the regular fuel thing, as I've read some articles about the Raptor calling for it, but sure enough you pop open the gas cap and it just tells you not to pull the nozzle out right away since it's a cap-less system. The 0.90L/100k, loss on fuel economy is very quickly offset by the cheaper 87 octane fuel, especially here where prices have shot up considerably.

Thing about these kind of mega SUV's is that they tend to start falling apart after a few years of ownership. I've driven many older Escalades and Navigators and prettymuch all of them had rattly interior, sagging doors and stuff like that. I guess it's a lot of car to keep tight QC over. It's interesting to see how this new generation will fair but honestly by looking at the way the nozzle retracts at 05:00 lm not holding my breath (I know its a small detail but for 100K you're allowed to be picky). You just wouldn't get that level of (poor) finishing from Lexus, RR or MB. The interior looks nice but those seats are going to be a nightmare a few years down the line. I've got a BMW E65 (yeah l know) with full comfort seats and let me tell you...you don't want one of the million or so little electric motors to fail. This, like the RR, is definitely not one of those cars you wanna own after the warranty runs out. I do like it though, could live without the illuminated Lincoln badge but it has a certain appeal that l can't put my finger on. Loving the channel btw, keep up the good work!
@PRNTestDrive
@PRNTestDrive 6 лет назад
I feel these are really designed to work great for the first few years, as those who drive them will likely be leasing them. We had some quality control issues on the 2018 Escalade that we drove, the rear lift gate kept freezing in the cold weather, along with a burning smell each time we'd park it.

So you ding this suv for not having separate climate controls for each back seat passenger? I can’t recall seeing two humans sitting a foot apart where one wanted the ac blowing while the other wanted the heater running. No doubt you’re a caddy fan. Just admit it! You want to hate the Navigator but you know it’s the best suv on the market lol!
@PRNTestDrive
@PRNTestDrive 6 лет назад
So by your logic, front dual zone climate control makes no sense either. Watch our video on the Escalade, we found the interior to be pretty boring and cheap. I wouldn’t buy either of these SUVs, so saying I’m a Cadillac fan is false, however the Escalade episode was significantly more popular when we published it in comparison to how slow this episode has been growing over the months. The reality is we still get more views on the Escalade video, and that isn’t due to a non-existent bias on my part.

The Escalade RECOMMENDS premium fuel, but will accept 87 octane. I've run 87 on my 2016 Escalade for almost 2 years now with no problem.
@PRNTestDrive
@PRNTestDrive 6 лет назад
You can certainly do whatever you want with your Escalade, and if that's using regular fuel, more power to you.
@Kenneybrock
@Kenneybrock 6 лет назад
To be clear, I was not seeking nor interested in permission to use regular fuel in my vehicle. I got all the information I needed from my owner's manual which indicates a REQUIRED octane level of 87 or better. My response on this thread was my attempt to correct a glaring error in this video which made repeated assertions that the Escalade REQUIRES premium fuel, it does not. When comparing the two vehicles, the video erroneously asserts that because the Escalade requires Premium fuel, it will be cost more to refuel when compared to the Navigator which does not require premium fuel. Because the premise is flawed, the conclusion is faulty and worthless. Since neither vehicle REQUIRES premium fuel, it's zero sum game.
@PRNTestDrive
@PRNTestDrive 6 лет назад
To be clear, GM recommends premium fuel to get the maximum performance and fuel efficiency out of this engine. Sure, you can use regular gas as you’ve clearly said, so if you enjoy having worse performance and efficiency, go for it. There’s a reason why manufacturers recommend specific fuel for their engines, and it’s not because Shell and Imperial Oil are paying them to trick owners into buying more expensive fuel each time they fill up.
@Kenneybrock
@Kenneybrock 6 лет назад
No clarity required on my part. As the owner and daily driver of the vehicle, I fully understood why GM recommends premium fuel while requiring a minimum of 87 octane. I also fully understood the imperceptible difference between using premium fuel as opposed to regular fuel as it relates to acceleration and average MPG over several weeks and months of normal daily driving. I never mentioned anything about the motives of oil companies, and I can't say I understand why you feel the need to give permission to "go for it" since (again) I wasn't asking for it and certainly don't need it. That said, If you're interested in adapting your process to begin producing fact based content as opposed communicating incorrect information based upon misperceptions and personal opinions, "go for it". If you made this change, your subscribers and viewers of your content would be better informed.
