The Alpha Legion have gained the ability to create Primaris marines, so clearly the Alpha Legion is annointed by GW to have a major impact going forward, and I am excited to see how the Alpha Legion's story arc will evolve in the future. By dint of their secretive and opaque motives/strength/schemes, etc. the Alpha Legion is a fantastic creative tool for GW. GW can take the Alpha Legion in basically any direction that it wants: loyalist, traitor, both, etc. and unveil a "hitherto unknown" grand scheme by the Alpha Legion to significantly advance the WH40k store line. If written correctly, the Alpha Legion could impact the future trajectory of the Imperium to the same degree as Bellisarius Cawl (another fantastic plot device for GW).
I can’t agree more. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Alpha Legion has infiltrated GW itself. I feel like it would be quite a tremendous shake up if Alpharius (possibly Omegon) were to return. It’s hard to determine which primarchs are likely to return next, and we usually assume the ones that bring the most money. But my bet is on the obscure and unnoticed ones next. Bring back both jaghatai and Alpharius would be quite the move. Eventually these 2 are destined to return. It’s a matter of where they are within the plot.
In Spain, a commander once said something to the effect of "I have five columns, four on the front lines, one behind enemy lines" that caused panics, arrests, and executions on his enemy's side. No one is 100% positive if that 5th column ever existed, but it's impact was important. I am Alpharius.
The Alpha Legion has always been my favorite, I'm so bias for them that I'd accept Omegon killing Abbadon and taking over as Warmaster. Everyone would hate it, but I'd buy 10 copies of that book.
@@Danterag5 Right? He's my favorite primarch. I think he's arguably the best written primarch in the horus heresy novels in terms of consistency and reason for falling.
The alpha legion didn't hide in the eye of terror. Reason being as was mentioned in eye of night they had armour and weapons of all marks of all the chapters so they could hide in plain sight.
Im eager to see the loyalist warbands interact with the newly banded Ultima force. For the Alpha Legion it is FIRST, so even those loyal will still interact with the renegades, even if its with distaste. They are my favorite force in 40k as they are the only space marines who have egalitarian (though extremely pragmatic) democratic philosophy, even the chaos tainted ones still have respect for their human agents and will listen to critique by them. The Ultramarines even treat their humans worse than the Akpha Legion. Also, I hope Shroud of Night becomes and audio book because we find out the Emperor has plans for at least some of the Legion. I hope we get to see these big developments come to frutition for them because this is some incredible storytelling we've seen so far. Hydra Dominatus
I agree the alpha legion treat the human agents better than other legions. With two exceptions the raven guard and the salamanders. The raven guard treats the human to work for them very well, and the people that are of their homeworld are family, according to the salamanders.
It was nice of you to provide some content for the Alpha Legion fans as your final act. We'll certainly remember you as you receive your visit from your local Hydra aligned Editor Team. And to others who have considered making Alpha Legion content for public consumption. Maybe reconsider? 😜 😂
@@ArantyrDarkhand Haven't you ever wondered why GW are so obsessed with the Smurfs? You don't think they're *all* genuine Ultramarine successor chapters do you? 😉😁
I would like to see the Alpha Legion emerge as a true third option for human/space marines players, having a faction that isn't tied to chaos or the imperium. Sort of like in Leutins last video on the Emperor and what other subfactions of humanity might look like, this is the best option GW have for making what has become a predictable face off of Chaos and Imperium a three way, unpredictable storyline, allowing so much more flexibility with how they direct the factions. They need to stand apart from the rest of the traitor legions and not just be bluey green traitor marines with a mysterious air about them.
Read the newest Alpha Legion book. Some are chaos loving, others are loyal, most fall in between. That said if Alpharius returns they will all come together
I play them and do hope for some significant storyline for them in the future! I almost don’t care what direction they go in as long as we get something. However I have always had a gut feeling they are actually loyalist. Malcador the Sigillite stated that all the legions and Primarchs did as exactly as the Emperor planned. That this heresy was carried out not as a surprise but an ends to a means.
Wich its ACTUALLY a HUGE LIE. They contaminated the raven guard gene seed. Not something the emperor probably wanted. But half of the primarchs turn traitor yeah probably was on the plan... but after magnus fu c ked the project that was not in the plan for sure. I think that was when the PLAN got that touch of the CHANGE. And the Emperor start sh it the bed.
I've always thought that GW has downplayed Alpha Legions capabilities, favoring others over them even though Alpha is (in my opinion) easily the most intriguing Legion with most potential. Alpha is an enigma, we're not sure of their loyalties or lack thereof, we don't know when Alpha legionnaire is present, we can't tell lie from truth about them. If you know next to nothing about your enemy, you are already in disadvantage but add to that the fact how Alpha does know everything about you before you attack and you're double fuck'd. Alpharius never showed the full potential of his Legion (as far as I know) and when he died, Alpha weren't left without a Primarch which is huge boost alone. Hydra Dominatus!
Bit of a side note but parts of the Alpha Legion did actually take refuge in the Eye. Abbadon himself says so in the Black Legion series, Talon of Horus specifically I think.
@@MrFallenonethis, people forget Alpha legion literally had built in black ops cia sleeper agents with key words built into them where in they would immediately work towards a preset task upon activation
I must admit, my love for the Alpha Legion is growing. While I've never liked them, both from a lore and painting standpoint, I'm finding recent events involving them to be quit interesting. I may just paint one of my Chaos Marine squads for my Black Legion as Alpha Leginaries. Once I get back to that project. also, Plot twist: what if the dark magos IS Cawl? or a part of him he'd thought dead and buried???
The problem with the alpha legion is once you actually moved them forward in the story you kind of have to pick aside on what they actually are and you have to stick the landing of that story.
The fact they didnt actually commit to the heresy as a legion and got out relatively intact, id say the alpha legion has more spacemarines then anybody actually knows and the fact they have a space hulk with everything they need to not only survive but are thriving means they are stronger then most spacemarines of the emperium and more so then the traitor legions besides maybe the black legion, death gaurd and iron warriors. But other then that they only ever lose a handful of marines when theyre tracked down and not an entire chapters worth of marines. Making them standing stronger then anticipated
So my Daughters of Eden, Alpha Legion Sisters of Battle, can be cannon or at least a real possibility?! That makes me happy enough to make another unit!:)
Going to talk about the Harrowmaster book itself? You seem to have enjoyed it. I certainly did. Solomon is quickly rising in my favourite space marines list.
Given how alpharius and omegon each chose their own paths. I would love a deep dive of potential loyalist alpha legion. And the real goals of the traitor. Twin hydras
20 was always one of my favorite legion and thx to ur vod that love just grow stronger. And are they a force to be recon in the 41 milenium? ALWAYS HAS BEEN.
The alpha legion have sleepers on terra planted during the horus heresy. There everywhere waiting for one of 3 command phrases to dictate what they do next. This fact is in one of the siege of terra books. I can't remember which one.
I think if the Alpha Legion doing this and if Omegon (Alpharius) is alive too then I believe Omegon will take a active role against the Alpha legion if loyal stepping out of the shadows to fight a silent war of espionage and counter espionage against Solomon perhaps with his new legion, the 21st Omega legion. Operating against chaos without the knowledge of the custodies, the Lion or Guilliman. Only the Emperor knowing of this secret war and providing Omegon the trigger word for the thousands of alpha legionnaires underneath the imperial palace to fight this new war.
If the Alpha Legion never took refuge in the Eye of Terror, and no one knows their true intentions or allegiance, why is their armor marked with the blasphemous marks of Chaos?
Some turned to chaos. Some stayed loyal but need to disguise themselves. Some are in-between but would again want to keep up appearances. If everyone thinks they are turned to chaos then that's the best role for them to play.
Let's be frank, the Alpha Legion has a history of disguising themselves as every other Legion. There is nothing seriously stopping them from pretending to be another Legion and going to chapters homeworld when the majority of the chapter is away and taking recruits for 10,000 years. And it doesn't even need to be a single chapter.
Alpharius is carrying out the Orpheus protocol in the pocket realm with the help of Valdor. Going by the name of Orpheus in reference to the King in Yellow they have the genetic template of all the legions as we know from the events of Corax, Iman Pesh tells John Grammaticus that he was awakened and was uner Orpheus Protocol (fight chaos directly). Alpharius and Valdor would've been much closer than previously alluded to after finding out the events in Alpharius primarch novel he is responsible for blood games.
I truly believe Dorn Killed especially enhanced space musing the project talent information the alpha legion got, It was mentally conditioned to believe he was the primark. The alpha legion has a both of its gene fathers running around in the universe, neither of them are dead.
no... did you not read end of the book ..... omegon felt the other half of his soul die . he felt his twin die and the took over as defacto "alpharius" .... since it hasnt been definitively explored, i dont think guilliman killed the new "alpharius"
The means of his death happened the same way as ferrus, the flash of light etc so the confirmed 1 of them is officially dead, the other rowboat just claims to have killed. In the perfect clever girl moment by not following his precious codex doctrine and utilising an alpha legion tactic. But officially he is not confirmed either way, so he definitely must be because that makes sense
@@lonniedoyle2274 Except that from his point of view. It's all cannon but it's not all true. His twin could have conditioned him to feel that. Because he needed his twin to think he was dead.
@@markmueller-rougier3098 well primarch s give off aura in lore now.... dorn immediately knew him... kinda like AZ knew the lion acrosss battle field...there has yet to be marines that could replicate it.Non primarchs don not have it... only guillimans killing of omegon is suspect ... older writing. If thats your primarch apologies, nothing against Alphas cause they are cool legion. Omegon would feel losing the other half of his soul. I mean you dont see aplharius screwing with omegons brain anywhere else in books .It was not left open to debate ... yes that whole arua in newer writings is wonky. I feel they kinda sacked alpha to give rogal a W cause the loyalist had lost too many. If anything look for the grudge match Omegon will have with dorn at his return(as his history was retconned)
Abaddon is just so boring, Huron is a much better inevitable villain for the imperium to face as a big bag space marine man. With regards to Alpha legion I’m convinced they’re at least half traitor and half loyalist and those halves work together at least when we speak of the warbands still working under whatever orders Alpharius/Omegon gave them I think
I bet ya that Huron doesn’t want to be the main villain and just wants to do his own thing, not necessarily truly anti imperium. That’s why he isn’t the main villain.
There was another video you did on how it appears that the "Celestial Lions" were being picked apart by the inquisition for having the temerity to question them. What if the reason is not merely the murderous ego of one petty inquisitor, but because the inquisitor who ordered the exterminatus simply cannot afford for the Celestial Lions to bring the attention of not only Terra, but of the other inquisitors as well, because the inquisitor that ordered the exterminatus has ties to the hydra?
Lets try and keep this in perspective. While the Alpha Legions achievements in Harrowmaster is impressive, Solomons forces numbers around 1000 marines. So a chapters worth. The Unseen is a strong an stable capital ship base, but with but a single effort, Abaddons alliance created many mightier if less stable such ships in the Arks of Omen. And several cells of the Alpha Legion answered Abaddon’s call and worked for him. The Hydra is fare from so might jet.
In battlefleet gothic armada 2, Lord High Admiral Drang, leader of the imperial navy, was a spy, put there by the alpha legion. A high lord of Terra. While the game isn't cannon, it's a good indicator of how far their reach is.
Immediate reaction: Of course they are! Mechanically they're completely different to the other Traitor Legions - without the time dilation of the Eye of Terror they've had to be much more like the loyalists - having to recruit and manage gene-seed, getting old and dying like and Space Marine. Omegon himself may well have been alive and guiding their operations personally this whole time.. though judging from the Lion he might be a tad grizzled and old by now!
My current head canon, while I admit is biased, is that not only is the Alpha Legion the hardest working faction in either loyalist or traitors but that I dont think the legion ever broke apart in the first place. I personally believe that the Alpha Legion is still loyalists, but that they are trying to counter tzeentch and the only way to accomplish something so absurd is to turn truth to lies and lies to truth. As such I am perfectly prepared to believe that they are currently fractured and working in the interest of chaos but that the entire legion is only doing this while working under a plan as double agents. I believe that somehow they have planned for all of this and prepared some way for them to re-implant their former loyalties at a future time through some sort of mental reconditioning. This makes it possible for every Alpha Legionnaire to fully believe themselves that they are traitors while still working within the scope of their own loyalist plan devised before they willingly mindwiped themselves and fell to chaos. The perfect double agent. Perhaps, just maybe enough to pull one over on a chaos god themselves if devised and orchestrated by a primarch such as Alpharius or Omegon.
Hope the Scouring gives us some answers regarding the Alpha Legion without endangering their schtick for example in regards to Eskrador, I don't think anyone really believes Guilliman killed Omegon (or Alpharius) but why would he believe so, how come he doesn't know that Dorn killed Alpharius already, how they deceived a Primarch into thinking he actually fought another and how deep the deceit goes since there are some Alpha Legion warbands that in the current setting do think Guilliman killed their Primarch.
Honestly I’m just happy we’re finally putting an end to the alpha legions I am alpharius memes. They moved forward maturely, they acknowledged it was a thing, but now we’re in m42 and it’s high time for new tricks
@markmueller-rougier3098 It kinda feels like grimdark plot service that virtually no alternative FTL technology not reliant on a Hell dimension is being researched.
The Alpha Legion aren't as sneaky as they think they are. The Inquisition knows of thier infiltration (plus other chaos factions have had spies rise to the rank of Inquisitior - The "Cognitae" from the Eisenhorn/Ravenor series being one. Speaking of Eisenhorn - he literally has an Alpha Legion Space Marine in his retinue as a "specialist". As for mimicking the Primaris - they might be able to get some of the new organs to work but the key component of the Primaris is the psycho-indoctination it uses which is a really insidious proceedure that has noticable effects on Loyalists who have crossed the Rubicon so trying to make thier own Primaris may in effect be adding "Malware" to thier own marines.
I really think they still are around legion strength however they are now so disparate that it would be impossible to bring them together into a single force.
The galaxy is ripe for the return of Omegon. Imagine his machinations working against both Warmaster and Guilliman as his ‘For The Emperor’ preserving agenda dictates.
My take, Alpharius is Cypher. Alpharius spent too much time with Mal and Big E to be out leading a legion when Omegon who didn't have that advanced training was perfectly capable of leading them. The Alpha Legion managed its resources too well to waste Alpharius on something like that. So it was Omegon that Dorn killed. Alpharius is playing the long game with the Big E. That's why when he was told "not yet" he understood and left.
I think if GW can start selling Chaos Primaris kits and make all “first-born” chaos models obsolete and banned from competitive matches, anything is possible with the “lore” of 40K.
Alpha Legion seems to be near the top in terms of their count of named daemon princes. If their Primarch is actually running things, and isn’t a Chaos champion himself, he’s doing a terrible job of keeping his legion under control.
Who says they are actual traitors, who says they aren’t working towards the same goal a different way, and I love the alpha legion. I like them a lot because unlike the other legions and storyline as a whole. Baseline humans are the imperium, they are the backbone, in fact they are much stronger than the chapters. The alpha legion modifies and uses humans like they are part of the legion. So it would make a lot of sense to me that they persist. They aren’t tainted by the warp, they respect humanity as the weapons and resources they provide to the legions/chapters. Even at there height, the legions were complimented with tens of millions of baseline soldiers. I love that arrogance in the true traitors who thought they were something better but they were made not created. You can’t just created new space marines and thus there own depravity killed them. There arrogance and short sightedness starved them of the resources, discipline and knowledge they needed to persist.
Pesh did say there were thousands of Alpha legion in stasis in the hidden places of terra. Also, didn’t they steal the true copy of the Astarte template? Couldn’t they just create limitless amounts?
Not limitless amounts. However they stole a copy of the geenseed of the raven guard. Version 1.5 at that. So highly stable and yes they do have the knowhow to make astartes...but all the legions do traitor or not. The issue for the traitors is geenseed. Geense3d is yhe crux of making new astartes.
Return? 🤨 _We never left._ 😎 #HydraDominatus Joking aside, the Alpha Legion's real strength isn't their combat prowess (unlike the Black Templars or World Eaters, for example) - although they're no scrubs, but the ability to do maximum damage with minimal resources. Don't forget, it only took a few Alpha Legion marines infiltrating the Raven Guard to decimate them as a legion, by corrupting/destroying their geneseed stockpile. Best to think of the Alpha Legion as the CIA if everyone was build like a superhuman Spec Ops soldier (and far fewer Mormons 😂)
I don't consider the Alpha Legion to be organized into warbands but into cells like spy or sleeper cells. Autonomous units in loose association with each other. Each cell working on it's agenda and plans. And I think this is by design.
This makes sense Alpharius has said they as a legion are always mission focused, they are decentralised. They are kind of like green berets they act by with and through, using guerrilla tactics alongside conventional ones, if the leader is killed they can still continue the mission, they also use whatever tool they need to complete the mission, psyker, xeno tech whatever they will utilise it.
I have a theory, or at least what I think'd be a great comeback for the AL, but it also involves spoilers for the latest HH Siege of Terra book, so spoiler warning . . . . Okay so: We know the Alpha Legion had individuals put in stasis under Terra's surface, and I like the idea that it wasn't just a handful of marines, but a huge fighting force in the event of them needing to attack the Throneworld. With the oncoming threat to the Sol System from the Tyranids, I think it'd be sweet to see Terra come under threat, chaos ensuing, only for Omegon to reemerge and activate the sleeper agents in defence of the Emperor, reigniting their activity across the setting and stirring up the divide of Chaos/Renegade vs Loyalist AL. AFAIK there's been no rumours nor leaks for the Alpha Legion so I don't see it happening that much, but I think it'd be a sweet reintroduction to the 41st millenium whilst also offering AL players *something*.
I hope not, Alpha Legion and word bearers fill a somewhat similar niche in the chaos space marines lore, in the sense that they're both subversives with large cults on various worlds throughout the Imperium. It's even canon that the word bearers and alpha legion cults end up going toe to toe a lot for dominance in these scenes. As a word bearers fan, I'd rather the word bearers get the spotlight, I've always been of the view that they should be the poster boys for Chaos, not the black legion. Word bearers earned it, and their color scheme, of red and silver, makes a good counter balance to the ultramarines blue and gold.
We never saw them fall to Chaos, only align themselves with the Warmaster. Some warbands have clearly joined Chaos, and AL have plenty of daemon princes, but I don’t think the legion fell in the same sense the Emperor’s Children or Death Guard did.
@@headlibrarian1996 We saw them buying some alien prophecy wholesale, and I thought that was really dumb. Why couldn't they have been a bit smarter like Fabius Bile and just go "Lol No I wont try and lead the emperors children because some alien says it's my destiny" I feel like Horus' fall could have been done better for similar reasons, but at least he was already getting corrupted by that blade wound. Alpharius just kinda went like HURRRRRRRRRR IT'S CHAOS TIME DURRRRRRRRRR. *Cough* At least that's how I feel about it.
i dont think there is any chance that alpharius is dead or a traitor. It was omegon who was found last and didnt know the emperor, not alpharius who was raised on terra by the emperor and malcador. the same guy why brings families to live on his flagship because they had seen too much. The same alpharius who could best constantine valdor and never engaged in frontal combat is suddenly a berzerker getting killed by rogal dorn? no... i dont buy one word of it.
Alpharius proper absolutely survived through the ages in my belief. My tin foil hat theory is that he will be the next loyalist Primarch to return. I feel like GW is going to Star cranking them out to expand the game.
