This Garden Railway Layout has been previously featured in GARDEN RAILWAYS MAGAZINE IN JUNE 2017.
Judy and Paul's wonderful train layout and invitation to host the GREATER VANCOUVER GARDEN RAILWAY CLUB on Sep 7, 2019.
The bushes and groundcovers have filled in nicely since 2017 and everything is in wonderful shape to run the trains.
The above video shows only a small portion of this excellent and well constructed garden railway.

That landscaping is second to none. I like the way it's all elevated like it's on a big planter. Best of all, it's located in the woods with a seamless connection to mother nature despite being manmade per se. I'd love if my suburban backyard could have a garden railway that could look even half that good.

Thank you for comments. Yes the owner did a vary nice job and took the time to set it up. I enjoy everyone's garden builds as each one shows the owner's personality. So whether large or small, they all are a benefit to the hobby when shared with others.

I had the privilege of seeing this layout in person this past summer (a friend introduced me to Judy and Paul as he knew I am into model railways). Unfortunately the buildings were not out (although I did get a glimpse of them in the storage shed), but Paul did run his steam locomotive around a few times for us. It's even more incredible in person! An amazing engineering feat with the raised sections and bridges set in an amazing landscaped garden that is the perfect backdrop to the trains.

I think this has become my favorite layout. When I build mine I want it to be simular to this one.

I actually enjoy drawing my dream outdoor layout on graph paper, then draw in scenery, etc. it looks very similar to this in my head (I dream BIG, lol!!). So, yeah…. What you said! 👍🏼

I love this layout! There are even similar spots and sights to Ward Kimball's Grizzly Flats railroad.

Simply Outstanding !!!! Iove how you built everything easy to get too. And the track work and buildings are right up to the edge of the wall and all of the foiliage is in the background like an indoor layout. Great design ideal !!!!!

I'd love to see this layout in person if I could find out where it is located. I'm am starting to build a little little layout where I live in Roseville CA and I think I have enough track for the plan that I have been figuring on for the past few months, since I have been living here. If everything goes well, I will have something for everyone here to enjoy seeing and we will be possibly able to expand on.

I posted above in the text that it has been featured in GARDEN RAILWAYS MAGAZINE in their June 2017 issue which details the location of this layout. Hope that you are able to find a back issue for that information. Sorry, I do not know if they will have any more invitational gatherings.

I love your raised layout. I am looking to build a raised layout with a retaining wall as well. Do you have any issues with rain water drainage? What steps if any did you take to address this?

Thank you for your interest in this video. This is actually not my layout so I do not have any data on its drainage but my layout at Deltatrains had Allen Block and I did not have any drainage issues on my setup. The good thing about Allen block is that it is loose fit or placed and not cemented and has the gaps needed to allow water to pass through. I had quite a bit of gravel under the tracks to keep water from pooling so you may consider doing that . Hope some of this helps.
