This is Part One of my teach and full solo playthrough of the new board game Return to Dark Tower, a sequel to the classic Dark Tower! Check it out!
Warning: I mispronounce a bunch of fantasy names in this game, as well as the word "bazaar." I never realized I say "bazaar" like "bizarre", but I do for some reason. I wish I had an excuse, but I can't think of one. I humbly apologize to my family, Restoration Games and to all board gamers everywhere.

Great video, my KS copy is probably more than a month away (I'm in Australia!) so it's brilliant to see some proper gameplay videos. Looking forward to the rest of this playthrough! 👍

Great playthrough so far. That extra skull removal on cleanse is really helpful. This game predates my KS buyathon so I wasnt able to pick it up. Im hoping its not too hard to pick up later

Yeah, I accidently picked the right character for that main goal it would seem. Also, that is the recommended first goal, so everything was pretty smooth. I'm guessing this won't be too hard to get, considering most Restoration Games are available and well supported. Thanks for watching Adam!

I'm terrible about waiting for games. I get very impatient, so I feel your pain. I wish I was one of those gamers who love to play the same game over and over again. But I love nothing more than experiencing a game for the first time, seeing something new. Thanks for watching my playthrough!

I played with a friend for the first time today; the difficulty did ramp up a bit; as for ignoring the monsters like I did in my solitaire game, we ended up having to fight them because they were dropping skulls; not to mention that the titan was going from kingdom to kingdom destroying buildings...

Hello Louis! I get your point, but I do enjoy the combat system. It doesn't feel epic, sure, but I think the decisions are interesting when you have less advantages and you need to strategically take hits. To me, it is a refreshing system, but I can understand the argument that it isn't as exciting as others. Thanks for watching!

@@TotallyTabled I enjoyed it quite a lot! I got a little lucky, my first treasure allowed me to move my character anywhere on the board once per turn. Which was helpful because Three Rivers ignited during my game. I held on to that treasure until I absolutely needed all 4 of Azkol's. I did have to retreat after two battle cards, stock up on warriors, and then return to the battle. And I totally forgot to use the haggle die at all. Things I paid attention to that helped, were skull cleansing and corruption cleansing. I just finished watching part 2 of your video. You definitely got through this faster than I did. It took me about 90 minutes as I kept having to consult the rule book about things I could not remember. Thank you for sharing your playthrough!

My vids are edited to hell and back, so it took me quite a while IRL. I'm a pretty slow player. But it feels like a good length, at least solo. Glad you liked it. Thanks again into coasters.

Ah, yes, I got those from the Board Game Geek store, but you can get generic ones on Amazon. I use the smaller size ones the most. They can collapse flat for easy storage. I like them a lot. Hope you enjoy the game.

Just got mine Friday, but have not yet opened everything up fully... The three little snap up from flat holders for the skulls, spirits, etc, did they come with the game or an expansion or are they something you acquired elsewhere? (and if so, from where?)

In reinforce action can you take both free and spirit actions at the same time or you need to choose? (Like in bazaar - can you take both a gear and paid 2 spirits and take a treasure)

When fighting the troll it says “melee attack” “ humanoid treachery” dies it mean I must use humanoid advantage only and not humanoid or melee as stated on the monster card?

I backed this as well and still no word on when ours in the UK will be shipped.Did you get all the extra stretch goals in the shipment or are they coming at a later date?

I don't know about stretch goals but I did not order any expansions or add ons. I only ordered the base game, which might be why I received mine pretty darn early. I hear more people are getting them now with the expansion but I'm not sure about the add ons. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Great question. I haven't tried the competitive mode, but I'm not sure I'd want to. This feels like a traditional cooperative game, which is something I love but might not be for everyone. The dark tower is a super fancy cube tower essentially and works well -- a fun gimmick at the end of the day. (Funny, this game shares a bit of DNA with The Loop). The combat system is clever and satisfying. For me this is a fun family+ co-op with a ton of replayability. Whether that is worth the price and bulkiness of the game is a debate. It's a keeper for me. Thanks for watching!

greetings fantastic video. I have a question. Is every quest you decide to do non linear meaning it's always the same or does it randomize the events ect in each major quest you pick to do?

Thanks Jeremy. That is a really good question and I'm not sure of the answer to be honest. I believe the major events are the same each time but the minor events are randomized. Not sure. Sorry. But regardless, there is tons of replayability with all the different quests you can choose at the beginning. Thanks for watching!

Yes, the price is difficult to justify for sure. They did a tremendous job "restoring" the old game. And if you enjoy it, there is a lot of content there to explore. But the fancy electronic cube tower comes at a cost and makes this a luxury item when compared to other board games. Thanks for watching!

@@TotallyTabled, I think if the blank side appears, you just resolve the market as normal. One other thing, I think (happy to be wrong!) that you thought using an item sidestepped your heroic action. Consumable items etc., can be used at any time during your turn. :) But! I would double check, just a gentle nudge, rules can be convoluted! :)

I think I know the moment you are referring to, and I was probably unclear. If I used that card it would have removed that foe but by battling it instead I earned the spirit you get after taking a heroic action. Yes, playing cards is a free action you can perform on your turn. And you are correct about the blank side of the haggle die. I was not aware that I taught and/or played that wrong in the video. What if the app in a couple of years is offline...will this game be unplayable?

Yes, Airborne, the app is required to play the game. I do not believe it requires being online or connected to a server. I think if you download the app, you are good to go. Honestly, you are more likely to have a broken tower that can no longer be fixed or replaced in 20 years, rather than the app no longer working. Thanks for watching!

I play with my dad & 2 9yo we still haven't beaten azkol lol. Game's fun but rough, especially when 3 / 4 players are not hardcore gamers trying to min max every move.

Yeah, it is one of those rare games where more players is MUCH harder. The design clearly wants players in every quadrant, so with one player the bad guys do a lot of swinging and missing. Also, they made it hard to adjust the difficulty up and down. If you do a random setup, you might get a cake walk or a brutal nightmare, depending on player count. Hopefully with time they will have a long list of easy, medium and hard seeds so we can dial in the experience we want, which is important for a family weight co-op. Thanks for watching Argothian!
