The progress that is kept in the final boss fight is the cards that you modified. If you draw them again later they will be at the same level, no need to spend advantages again 😉
So much hype! I like your ideas about the competitive mode. The nice thing is that with the app, they can make patches and update these modes. I'm looking forward to getting mine with all the expansions. :)
I pledged right in the first moment I saw this game on KS. We have been waiting for this for 2 years... It seems the game will arrive soon. I am little bit disappointed with this competitive mode... It is a shame, because this game looks fantastic!
I backed it as a late pledge. I was on the fence for so long because I also thought the Tower was going to be a glorified dice tower. So glad you addressed that in your video!
Bro your review is on another level. Obviously your production and presentation is easily the best I've seen, your edits and angles are the best. But what I really like is you don't waste time acting like you're talking to people who haven't played these kinds of board games before!
Pretty sure competitive mode was added as a stretch goal die to the wants of those who wanted the feel of the original. At least it can be updated as time goes on with more interesting modes potentially

@@TimChuon when I backed it, I lived with people. Now I don't do usually solo unless I can convince some one. But a lot of people have been praising the solo.
Great video! My group definitely enjoys cooperative modes the most so that’s primarily how we’ll be playing (along with solo for myself). The hype here is VERY real!

@@TimChuon Two play throughs in! And it’s quite an experience. The seeming spite of the tower, the music, the sounds, and the terrifying lack of time to do everything you want to do every month make for an EXTREMELY intense and unique storytelling experience. I get sucked right in. I’m hoping future plays feel “different” enough to keep it interesting, but I think they will. Maybe a bit of proofreading (there’s a rogue apostrophe), and a more satisfying boss battle/victory sequence would make it even BETTER? These are small nitpicks, but correctable. Again, thank you for the review! It made my day much more exciting.

Fantastic video, its easily one of the best I've seen about RTDT so far. I haven't actually played it myself yet, but yea, competitive mode seems a bit "tacked-on". Luckily, that's not why I'm getting the game. From the outside, the character progression seemed fine to me. A game only lasts a couple of hours, so there is only so much character progression that can logically occur in that time-frame. I think the virtues, gear, treasures, and allies all come together to make someone feel pretty powerful, but I could absolutely be wrong here! Maybe I'll update my comment in a few weeks when I have my own copy and have some games in!

Merchants of the dark road is coming next~ and YESS took the words right out of my mouth! it's interesting to see this comparison: 9 compelling scenarios for co op with multiple ways to customize different components vs.... 3 static cards for competitive. now that you put the char. progression that way-it does seem more logical that the progression is minimal in a short amount of time! If you get a chance to play it in a few weeks, definitely let me know what your updated thoughts are!

Glad you enjoyed it Tony! Thanks for watching! You only need one tablet (phones are kinda hard to see-I’ve tried!) that can be shared with the whole group; you can manage with a phone, but if you can get a tablet, it’ll make gameplay much easier!
I went all in on this one so I may not get mine until last. I can’t remember what they said in the update but I think the all in stuff is bundled together at the end. No email so far, so I’m still waiting.
@@TimChuon my friend brought over his 1980’s copy but the tower doesn’t work. I think a few components are missing as well. I am not too motivated to fix it since the new one is coming.
wtf 4 games? You must use good batteries. First 2 games the batteries were dying toward the end of each so the tower get getting jammed. The advantages do get saved when fighting a boss. Probably a fix at some point. When you get a card that has zero effect on it because it was advantaged to the max. Feels so good.
Oh good question! I realized I didn’t mention it bc I actually rarely used it-only rolled it once or twice during my plays! It having the “lose all rewards” side ended up hurting me more than having the chance for gaining the possible rewards 😂
