I love your videos Dougie!! I’m not a Vauxhall guy at all but I remember the old once driven forever smitten adverts and I really enjoy watching your enthusiasm about things that no one else would give a shit about but to hear your passion about them makes me smile. Keep doing what you’re doing mate… you’re doing good things and I love watching what you get up to… this is such an honest channel. It totally captures everything about what is is to be a “car guy”. Thankyou for all your hard work buddy!!
Nice video Dougie, we need scrap yards like this to be kept open, don’t know if I have anything like this near me. Looking forward to the diplomat video tonight. Cheers.
Mk3 Astra parts are so hard to get because so many of these cars got wrecked in the 2009/10 Scrappage Scheme, and then a lot more got crushed soon afterwards. There were still some nice Astra bits left over in that scrapyard.
Have just started watching and subscribed to the channel Dougie, always loved 80s and 90s Vauxhalls as I grew up with them... bizarrely never owned one but so many family members had them. Your collection caper videos are the ones I look forward to the most! Keep up the good work.
I do miss those days! the gems me and my mate used to find for our cars, was like been in a sweet shop! you got a bargain there, some yards would charge £ 40 quid just for the alloy wheel alone! Great bonus having a fifth alloy too, I did the same thing with my peugeot 306, found a fifth alloy, offered the scrap yard bloke £15, he said no bother! My dad thought i had a flat tyre when he saw it in the boot. Then realised i had grabbed it for a spare wheel. Shame most of the old yards like that are gone now sadly, the last one like that has just closed down sadly, which was local to me.
Another great video and its great that the scrappy let's you go around yourself. Last time I was at SCB we were told to wait and their guys would dismantle the stuff and bring it to you.....dunno if it's still the same same. BTW........we're breaking a 1996 preface Vectra B 1.8 super touring lookalike with full SRI leather, spoiler, GSI bumpers, etc, if you know anyone who is looking for stuff.
We are in cupar, years ago I took my wee lad to the scrappy in dundee, to get a wiper motor for a Volvo, away he went and came back with an xr2 radio, he was a wee bugger
My dad had 2 different Vauxhall Viva HA in the 80's when I was a kid as daily drivers. Those were rare here in Sweden even back then. My first car later at 18 years old was a 1973 Opel Ascona SR Really cool car that rotted away unfortunately and I was too young to care. You are really tempting me to have an Opel (Vauxhall) as my next car. Liking this channel more and more for each episode i watch. Thank you and cheers! /Daniel in Sweden
That '03 plate Meriva is a nice find - one of the very first ones made, launched in July 2003. It's a shame to see it there really. And that Mirage-coloured Zafira is absolutely immaculate for its age. It's not the earliest, but it is the oldest one I've seen for a long time.
Dougie boyo I used to love rummaging in a scrappy, climbing up and sourcing parts, the stories the cars could tell if they could mate 👌 excellent channel brother 👍 love the passion, keep it up
Looks well worth a visit that place. I had a big plastic bag full of those side skirt clips somewhere! Also, a moment of silence for the DAF Cabtech cab, that must have been about 35 years they made that.
I always enjoy your content i liked the scrappy we have a big scrappy in Irvine shewalton car spares but your not allowed in anymore crazy they pick the parts for you.
Great hunting through the scrap yard, I didn’t know I’d be privy to your bedroom noises when you were frantically pulling off the steering wheel and your joy at finding a workshop broom, who knew? 👍
Just subscribed, watching from Melbourne, from Stonehouse way back when, and a big 80/90s vauxhall owner growing up. Love going to the scrappys even over here 👍
Nice one Dougie you cana beat a wonder round a scrapyard always go in with nothing and come out with a pile of stuff I use to take a bag and collect all the fuses and relays as there handy to have 👍
This might sound really weird but I love seeing people smoke in RU-vid videos. All us smokers are usually treated like we are in league with the devil.
I watch loads of videos of abandoned cars in fields including some vauxhalls from this era just left to rot and a lot of those cars could be donors for keeping your fleet going , Also just happened to see a vxr220 turbo on the way to work this morning what a cool car forgotten about them.
Heated seats wiring goes along the sill then under the heater box for one of the seats, and just along the sill for the other. Then ends up in a big connector at the bottom of the A pillar. Don't know how they wired the RHD cars. On the LHD, the big connector is at the driver's side (left side).
Its places like this that are worth raiding as many of those parts that you think you need at first but when theyre gone thats it unless you can find new old stock......cant beat a good old skool walkabout breakers yard.
@14:39. Sped up footage of you with that hammer reminded me of Benny Hill when he used to smack that wee bald fella on the back of the head for some reason 👴🫲
Greetings from Poland, I like opel cars from mid 90s, I wanted to buy Vectra B 2.5 or late B fl with 2.6 V6 engine. My brother has swapped several 20ex and C20xe engines to Daewoo Lanos, which base od common to Gm Vectra, Astra and Saab 900/93 platform.
Dougie you should come and take my old Omega away it’s a CD 2.5 V6 manual, it’s still whole and everything is still on it but it’s been sitting for a couple years .
I don't think I did 😂 I offered £40 for the bits he'd have taken less I'm sure but he's a nice old chap and was cool with me wandering all over the place with the camera
