I wanted to point out a trick for those motor brackets. Before you take the bracket off of the old motor, put a 1/2" self tapper through the strap and into the center hump in each bracket arm. This way the arms stay in place. I always hated that style bracket until I had one with screws in it from the factory. Now they all get an upgrade.

@topher8634 Месяц назад
Never seen freeze stat on residential equipment. All commercial equipment have them. Especially on hydronic coils. Trane uses an evaporator defrost control (EDC) on their 7.5T and up DX systems that will disable compressor until coil is above freezing. A conventional freeze stat is a manual reset.

Would the following be a useful idea? Get a magnet with either a hole in it or a clip attached; something to which you can attach an insulated 1"-2" wire with a male spade lug on it. When you pull a connector off a contactor or anywhere else that you don't want to hit a ground and blow a fuse, just plug it into this little device and stick it out of the way somewhere. Just a thought. Hopefully there's no further callback on this one.

I have been installing the Microair EasyStarts, and so far have been very impressed. I even put them on my own office and house for the same reason as you. On my 5 Ton it lowered the inrush from 147.5 Amps to 34 Amps. When it kicked on, I never even heard my generator lag. We started purchasing them from on online vendor because they're selling them cheaper than I can get them from the wholesale house.

Hard start kits are better!
@user-do9kj8nx8w
@user-do9kj8nx8w Месяц назад
@@bobboscarato1313 I'm curious as to your position on that. I mean, they are for two completely different purposes. There's the old traditional hard start cap, then there's the addition of a 521 Potential Relay, which takes the hard start out of the circuit once the back flow is read, and then there are Easy or Soft Starts that ramp up slowly. These are shown to not only extend compressor life, but make it easier to start on generator. The one I mentioned was using >100 amps inrush with a hard start and just over 30 with a soft start. If we have a new system, in warranty that is tight as we say, then the factory spec hard start is warranted. If we have a 20 year old unit that is dying, a good old 521 and hard start might get a few more years of out it, but a soft start is not about spinning off a tight unit. When watching on a spectrum analyzer we can see that, a hard start doesn't take less energy to fire off the compressor, it just reduces that amount of time the extra amps are needed. Curious to hear your thoughts.
