Ohhhh it's one of those where the AC mini split system is in the belly pan buried inside the insulation. That's going to be an expensive fix for that customer because all of no more than what was cut away the entire belly pan slip and insulation will have to be replaced because now the vapor barrier has been broken.

i see what you doing but at the same time i'd take rooftop at the same temps over most attics that easily hit 170+ down here also down south i'd take a crawl underneath a mobile home over long attic crawl easily due to the ground being cooler. Albeit I wouldn't touch a system like this as it's a stupid install, as he agrees, but i digress.

You can’t go off pressure with mini splits unfortunately. I’m assuming it’s a inverter system with EXV,s. Did you make sure the compressor was running at full speed? Did you check the evap fans? You should never just add refrigerant to a mini split, as they are a critically charged system. With the amount of water left over in the pan, it was probably a condensate pump issue or plugged line leaving the pumps. Mini splits are a pain to service and especially where those evaps where located. I would have walked away as well 😅

Crawling under there was nasty. It's one thing to fix HVAC and another thing to fix a dirty mess. You're a tough guy doing some of that tough work. As I watch your videos I think I hope you're charging for clearing the brush away from the exterior units. I would tell the owners to have a landscaper clear all the crap away from the compressor or if I have to do it there's a $65 charge.

On most of those units, if you take the cover off there are liquid and suction ports inside. Some of them are a pain to get to. I believe it’s Lennox that starting making a little cover to access them easily. On the city multi and bigger units they have a “floating” superheat. I’m not sure about the small units.

Terrible mounting place, service charge should be higher, regular split/pkg systems should be the go to for mobile homes, mini splits are too problematic for a whole house application, need constant maintenance and parts hard to find, hell a window shaker cools better than some mini splits for a one rm application, just make more noise and consume more power.

Next time you have to drop the drain pan out of that style of air handler, take a bucket with you and pull the rubber bung out of the gravity drain outlet to drain it before pulling the bottom panel off, even if it isn't over flowing from cutting the power off to it. Ideally, don't turn the power off to the system to let it thaw, just switch it to fan mode, but people are dumb and can't be trusted to not switch it back to cooling before you return.😐 Most of that style of air handler I work on are in commercial VRF systems, so I have the luxury of being able to lock air handlers out of the cooling mode if I need to thaw a coil and still have the pump work.

Curtis, I have a question with a 4° superheat what do you think that the unit would be overcharged now I understand about your vapor saturation in years of a tech. I would think that you’d want about a 15° superheat maybe I’m wrong. I know many splits are critically charged, do you think you should pull out the refrigerant and see how much refrigerant was in the system? Or put in a fresh charge in . Do you think unit could had non condensables ? Love your work and your channel. Good job

1:06 that is full of water that belly wrap is always been a terrible idea it fills with water and causes the floors to rot out when i was working in a court i would cut a slit in every single square to let it breath and let the water out 90% of the time every single low spot was full of water

what kind of psychopath came up with the idea of putting something like this underneath a mobile home? Even working drain lines or plumbing is nearly impossible under neath a mobile home! Honestly if my home came with that crap, first thing I would do is have it removed and a unit installed INSIDE like a normal human being with common sense would have.

Nothing wrong with mini splits, locals just cannot cook it proper way. The only ACs in EU and Asia. Vendor is also important. Since labor is expensive, - it is either should be here Daikin or Mitsubishi. I live by myself in my house and I have 2 indoor units on a single 4 connections outdoor unit. works perfectly great. In a new house I would install mini split in every room. But when it comes to remodeling, - is never easy. unit in living room during hot 90-100F summer working non stop and it is enough for comfortable temperature. Sometimes need to kick in central AC if it is too hot, or I had doors open to go in and out. Proper installation of the units is also MUST. They should have easy access.

A word of caution, I made it to 80 years old not wearing a mask around insulation and I cough all the time. I would gladly do things different.

I don’t understand the piping. How do you have two suction lines?! Are their two evaporators?
