Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines like never before!
Let's take abandoned mine exploring to the next level!
With your support you can help make this the best abandoned mine exploring channel on RU-vid!
Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines and tunnels all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hiked or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower as compared to other mine exploring channels. Gly discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!
Gly takes abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training, and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly”, your host and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob” (Gly’s Jeep), “Quackers” (Gly’s duck) and “Bobbie” (Gly’s hula girl) are sure to brighten your day with their comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.
Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST. (that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that subscribe button and bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!
Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! All these things help grow our channel and your financial support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob, thanks you!
Ok, now for the ugly stuff...
WARNING
Abandoned mines and ruined structures have many hazards and can severely injure or even kill you. Do not attempt to copy or re-enact situations or scenarios seen in this video. Stay Out and Stay Alive: • Gly Says... STAY OUT S...
NOTICE This video and all commentary therein including comments by the viewer is for entertainment purposes only and not intended to be instructional.
Whew! You made it this far? Good for you!
Now enjoy the channel!

It is just amazing to think this was all solid rock! There was no hole in the earth. Men dug every bit of this out by hand. Isn't it just great what men can do working together.

“Gly”: Aaron, I really like your comment because you hit the nail right on the head. Many view these places as if they were caves and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Every inch of every part of these mines had to be removed by hand and that’s something many fail to recognize. They truly are feats of strength and determination.

I'm really glad the only souvenirs you take are earth sample and not old mining tools. It's nice for the next person to explore that mine to find too. Awesome videos. I do like the pov/first person view over a 3rd person view for the main exploring through mines, that way we can see what is coming up next. I also like how you explain the geology and equipment. You will never learn this at school.

In my mining days, the wax paper was more about keeping the nitro glycerine in more than water out. After a while it began to weep thats when it began to get a bit iffy, as well as give you one hell of a headache that no pain killer would cure . It did have a relatively short shelf life as well.

I told you about the dynamite found by a trainee my son-in-law was with. There were 40 sticks of dynamite 65 years old. My son-in-law is a demolition expert for the U.S. Forest Service. He was put in charge of detonating the old dynamite. You can find the story. Just search for dynamite found in mine near Salmon, Idaho.

You said, "you like it" (this mine). Apparently the mine operator did also, looking at how far in and zig zagging they followed that vein; and the stulled areas, whew! Lots of effort and time. Wonder what their "take" was. You two in your 40's are complaining about crouching and your backs. Canada Frank is pushing sixty and is hauling himself up & down on ropes in mine declines! None the less, another great "exploreing mystery".( Drank alot of Old Milw. in the 70's. It was the cheaper beer, but still gave a calming effect after 5 cans......ha,ha.) To have your boyhood friend to come and see you and what you do, a great "reunion" to say the least!

“Gly”: My brother has the largest beer can collection I’ve ever seen. Most of those 70’s beer cans aren’t worth much more than $5.00. However, if you can find a pristine cone top, now those are worth some money.

I enjoy your laid-back style and attention to the interesting details. Your camera work has been improving rapidly as well and adds to the enjoyment. Any thoughts on how much value is really contained in those "high-grade" pockets like the ones you called out?

“Gly”: Thank you very much! Those pockets were chipped into by modern weekend prospectors from the 70’s. They are looking for ore that assays greater than 1/2 oz per ton or greater. The ore would need to be at least that rich for one to go through the trouble of hauling the ore out of the mine.
