The ComposiMold is a heat and pour eco-friendly, food contact safe reusable mold making material. We have 3 different versions of ComposiMold ComposiMold-Flex is a flexible mold material designed for soft casting materials like wax, soap, or chocolate. It's easier to flex around your casting material without damage. ComposiMold-Original is firmer, but not too firm. Designed as a happy medium. ComposiMold-FC is the same as ComposiMold-Original, just labeled differently for food, so you don’t use it for food after you’ve made a plastic casting.
The ImPRESSive Putty is a heat and Press. Still re-usable, still eco-friendly, but not food contact safe. So that’s the basics. And we’re going to start with a quick example of duplicating something with ComposiMold.
When making your mold, start simple. You can always re-melt and re-use, but an initial success will encourage you to do it again…especially since you can just make a new mold with the same material! The 10 ounce, 20 ounce, and 40 ounce sizes come in microwave safe containers. The containers will break down, so just place the ComposiMold in any microwave safe container…be sure to take out (and a good idea to read) the instructions before putting into the microwave. It’s safe for your kitchen microwave…no dangerous chemicals. You can leave the lid on when melting. When melting: don’t overheat as this will darken the ComposiMold and overtime will make the ComposiMold less pliable. It also adds bubbles. Start with short heating times…typically 30 seconds at a time is good. Before pouring over your Master Part, let the ComposiMold cool some.
Also, spray your part with mold release if necessary and Bubble Buster to reduce bubble formation.
