Powerful preacher...I can still remember the titles of 2 sermons he preached years ago when he came to Hartford Memorial Baptist Church, Detroit: “Breakfast by the Beach”, and “When the Covers Come Off.” Over 30 years ago.
Thank you for posting this video. The forgotten William Augustus Jones. Yet he still preaches from the grave. This dear man of God who called to preach the Gospel in the gone-by days here in NYC still does it into a thirsty soul. Through his thundering voice, you can hear the distinct still small voice of Jesus: “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in”. The Lord made provisions not only to hear him and a number of other preachers, but to see him preaching. Some of us remember his voice which still resonates and quiets our souls, while brutality and violence runs rampant in our streets and cities. O, how much, o how much, we need these men today, more than ever. They have seen the King of Glory and His beauty while on earth. Their hearts reached the heavenly city and their eternal home, but their bodies were still here on earth for a season. Their labors were not in vain, they wait patiently for us in that glorious Day to arrive.
So blessed to have served as a part of the music ministry under Dr. Jones' leadership. I was so privileged to listen to the trumpeter each Sunday for 10 years. Each declaration of the Gospel has been deeply deposited in my being. It is so nice to come back here from time to time, close my eyes and see him mount the sacred lecturn and preach "thus saith the Lord".
This brings back many memories from my youth. I remember being a young kid in the pews amazes at his booming voice. So powerful yet comforting and sometimes soft. Then they would close every service singing “when we all get to heaven”

I am because He was! The best pastor teacher a young licentiate could be blessed with. He restored me to the faith, and mentored me to be a messenger and instrument in the Redeemer's hands. He lovingly called me Rev. Rough sides lol! 37 years in ministry and rarely a day goes by, that he in one way or another is brought to remembrance.
To God be all the glory for the things he has done. Thank you Dr. William Augustus Jones for the many years I watched the Bethany Baptist Church Hour and for the Word of God which was proclaimed so powerfully. I too am proud to be called a preacher.
It's great to hear him in person. I have read one of his books several times. It ministered to me each time. I often imagined sitting under his preaching. Always wanted to hear him.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, I am so glad the family put Dr. Jones sermons on you tube. His sermons have all ways been a blessing to me past and present.. He was my mentor. He taught me about liberation theology and that Jesus is concerned about the totality of the human condition. I thank God for his ministry and the love he had for God's people. Finally! I've been searching online for William Augustus Jones's sermons for years! One of my favorite things to do on Sunday while I was in college (if I could make it back to campus after evening service in time) was to catch the Bethany Hour.Thanks you so much for posting! Rev. Jones was and is an inspiration to so many.
I had the pleasure of attending a week of preaching at Mt. Zion MBChurch in L.A. in the 70’s and was truly “revived” as I sat in awe of his erudition and Holy Ghost Anointing. WOW, I shall never forget‼️💯🙏🏽
