Listen in as an English vicar tells his church family why he is leaving the Church of England, and with the support of Gafcon will be starting a new Anglican church in Cornwall. Please pray for Philip and Naomi de Grey-Warter, their children and Anchor Anglican Church, Fowey.

When I lived in Fowey, I attended Fowy some years ago until I moved away from the town. I doubt he will remember me skippering some of the vessels, but I certainly remember him. I understand the courage that he had to arouse in order to leave the CofE as I also. even as a mere congregation member, have left the Cof E. His reasons were different from mine, as I waited until the Bishops really went against the Bible teaching in their pursuance of ingratiating themselves with the LGPT brigade and same-sex marriage made me realize that false prophets are everywhere and in the most unlikely places. Good luck to him and those who choose to go with him and may God bless them all.

You have expressed exactly and beautifully what has happened to us and our church we have been loyal to and serving in for our whole lives and through 5 generations of my family. In the last 2 decades we have watched in horror as our beloved church left us. This development is excruciating and complicates our family life (several grown children and many grandchildren and huge extended family) beyond imagining. This is why it is a curse to put our trust in man. God bless you with your new church. We go to a small Bible church now and feel great joy in hearing the truth regularly.

The C of E has always been political. It is the established church with the King as the Head and Supreme Governor. This has been the same since 1534. The problem is the woke agenda which is in direct contravention of the Gospel and the basic tenets of the universal church. That's why I no longer associate myself with the Church of England.

@@berean1703The CoE refused to admit Calvin Robinson to the priesthood because he refused to adhere to their woke agenda. With a woke hierarchy choosing those who will preach from their pulpits there is no chance of reforming the church from the inside. Unfortunately those chosen as priests by the CoE from now on will simply preach. The gospel of Christ has been exchanged for the gospel of the world. When you preach worldliness and endorse sin then you cease to be the church of Christ.

Wow. What an incredible demonstration of what it means to be a pastor of a flock. I wish I had half the diligence, compassion and skill that was front and centre in what I just watched. C of E church leaders - don’t play with fire and pretend you won’t be the one to get burned. The Bible tells you in Rom 16:17 and 2 John verses 10-11 that: - you aren’t the divider - you must not welcome/must separate from those who don’t teach orthodox Christianity. - not separating means you share culpability. God bless the people of Fowey and Philip and his family. That was an INCREDIBLE moment of outstanding leadership - to every believer, church leader - and to all leaders of C of E churches.

The C of E has been my expression of worship, though hot 'high' Anglo-Catholicism, since I came to the Lord at 16. I am now 62, and have had a very chequered Christian life for various reasons, but the Holy Spirit hasn't given up on me, and turned me around at 42, with a question; *"Whom will you serve?"* It's still not easy, and and still have had, and have, problems. Still, I go forward in Faith in Christ. However, I am vexed by the way the C of E has been going since 2001, from the top down, and now find myself coming up to a cross roads - leave or stay? I cannot leave, because I feel I would be 'punishing' the felliowship I am at, and that had been for 30-odd years, benn on the PCC three times, and on my second iteration as a churchwarden. I did consider a Readership role, but got turned down at that time. Now, I feel I have missed a bullet. My church is facing another Church Vacancy (Interregnum), which we are prepping for, and I am concerned with who, or *what* we may end up with. And I am now leaning towards being pro-Gafcon, but we had a change of bishop in our Diocese, the last one became very woke and who appointed a pro-LBGTQA+, who was in an active relationship and who is part of a charity which is trying to get the C of E to normalse such things, and worse. Right now, certain churches (6/2023) have set up gay shrines in them, which G-d explicitly calls "Abominations of Desolations"! As CW, I wouldn't allow it, and my fellowship and PCC tends to agree with me. But it will change in the near future. So, what do I do - go or stay? I am staying for now, maybe for the next 5 years as CW. But I won't stay quiet - never have done, I always ask, even challenge the zeitgeist, or *worldly compromise,* for it's own sake, if it doesn't reflect the complete Counsel of G-d. G-d is shaking up His own House, and we will *all* have to choose 'whom we will serve'. As for me and my house, I will serve, even imperfectly, the Lord.
@chrismaguire3667
@chrismaguire3667 Год назад
*Addendum-* the pro-LBGTQA+ advocating Archdeacon didn't last more than a year and he resigned after not being recieved by many C of E churches where I live. Our new one is, in my view, a Spirit-filled, Bible-believing, prophetically-minded person, as I had a good chat with him, so maybe things are looking up! Hallelujah and shalom.

Dear Philip: I enjoyed this video very much. I believe you made the CORRECT decision. A piece of advice: Teach your congregation about truth - what it is, how it is determined, how to recognize it when you find it, etc. It's not enough to just tout the Bible as truth, in this day and age people need to be instructed thoroughly WHY it is the truth. Remember our Lord told us: "You shall KNOW the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Cultivate "discernment" in ALL things. Religion is EASY to preach and benefits little, teaching discernment to appropriate what is and what is not truth in all matters is what Christians are woefully inept at doing. God bless you, sir, and your ministry.

@2394Joseph 3 года назад
Harry, please look for the bible references for the "seven sacraments"a that you now believe in, because they are not there; they are the inventions of men, not God. There are only two sacraments 1. the Lords supper: Mark 14:22-25, Luke 22:18-20,1 Corinthians 11:23-25. 2. Immersion baptism. Actss 2:38 and Acts16:30-33. Then read through this book: www.iconbusters.com/iconbusters/htm/catalogue/turretin.pdf and you will learn where the RC Church extra five came from. Also, remember: Philippians 2:12-13 “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.”
@briandunning2974
@briandunning2974 3 года назад
What a pity you have gone to the RC church. Are you aware that it is official RC doctrine that the Pope (and the church) trump the Bible. If there is any conflict then you must now agree with the Pope. As a previous comment says, there are not 7 sacraments, there are only two. You also have now to agree with the changes the RC church makes to the 10 commandments. There are MANY more examples but it’s very sad that you’ve turned your back on the authority of the Bible. Please think again.
@leepicker67
@leepicker67 3 года назад
Dear Harry I would ask you to ponder in your heart the answer to this question: "In what do I place my trust?" It appears from your comment that you did not find within the Anglican Church a religious organization worthy of your trust and have turned to the Roman Catholic system of religion as the appropriate focus of your faith, your trust. In both cases you have missed the mark. The Gospel is placing your trust for your salvation in a PERSON, the Lord Jesus Christ, God incarnate NOT in ANY religious system. Grace, which is the unmerited favor of the Father to enable you to accept that Jesus IS God, that He willingly accepted death on the cross to absolve you from the penalty of your sin, and was resurrected again to provide you with proof that God the Father accepted the sacrifice and payment that His Son made for YOU. It is a FREE gift to you for you to either accept and trust and be granted eternal life, or for you to reject and relegate yourself to eternal, conscious, punishment as payment for your sin. Jesus said: John 6:47 "He that believeth ON (trusts) me hath eternal life." He did NOT say "Believe ON" AND -- do anything else. This is The Way to eternal life GUARANTEED to you and for you by God Himself. You have HIS word on it. To take any other course is your declaration that Jesus Christ is a liar. It is Jesus alone, as God, that is the proper focus for your trust. Do that and God the Father will also give you, as a gift, the FAITH to hold on yo your trust. Roman Catholicism would demand that you place your trust in a system of Sacraments, God's "terms" to your way of thinking, to "perhaps" secure eternal life, that IS the teaching of heretical bishops, the foremost of whom is the Pope. In effect, a system of works, through which you "earn" enough of God's favor that He will take your soul to heaven. Please, dear Sir, read the Book of Romans, carefully, with an open mind as the Apostle Paul gives you everything in that book that you need to know to come to Christ as your Saviour, as your Lord, and how to live a wonderful rewarding Christian life. May God open your eyes to see HIS truth and give you a welcoming heart.

The selective use of the gospel. The very worst of ecumenism and sectarianism. After a long journey, by the grace of God I was baptised into the Holy Orthodox Church in 1997. The COE has been a wishy washy, non inspirational church for all of my life. Even during my religious instruction period at school during the 1960's-70's, 9 times out of 10, no instructor would even bother to turn up, and it just became another wasted period. I ended up asking the Catholic priest if I could sit in on his religious instruction class (because my best friend was a Catholic). The Catholic priest allowed this (even though I was COE not Catholic) and he never failed to be in attendance, unlike his COE counterpart. His lessons were not dull, but rather entertaining, due to his enthusiasm and communicative skills. I never became a Catholic, but I did and still do, feel let down by the COE. I'm looking for a new church now (due to moving house and home) and it is a shame that I can't in all good faith, even consider the COE as a possibility. Even though I haven't attended a COE church in many, many years, I have noticed over the years, their further slide into being an apathetic, Church of the World, instead of an engaged and faithful Church of Christ. Outrageous hermeneutical arrogance that anyone, any human being, of finite properties of mind and spirit, might claim to 'know' the infinite mind and will of the Divine. But, for one with a Curacy at St Helen's Bishopsgate and all that that was under Dick Lucas, I am not surprised to see Mr De Grey-Warter has stood firm to that tradition which claims a uniquely 'true' way to be Christ-like in word and deed. Only His Way - or only his way? I need to re-listen as I missed the details, the doctrinal details as to why the Guidance of the House of Bishops has proved to be the last straw. Did I miss it or as others have commented below, Mr de Grey-Warter didn't spell it out.

By trying the Free Church of England, you can remain Anglican but leave Canterbury. There are a lot of FCofE churches around the country.

oh dear! Philip says Baptism is a 'sign' and 'visual aid' ? Philip is himself as guilty of diluting the Faith as the liberal clergy he rightly talks about. Baptism is not just 'a washing' it is one of the seven sacraments and without it one is not a Christian or part of His Church (apart from Baptism of desire of course). It is not a 'sign' it actually DOES SOMETHING. - p.s. being a 'Bible man' means Philip accepts the authority of the Catholic Church, who do you think decided what did and what didn't go into it 1,600 years ago?

@@GailOwens really? “In baptism we die with Christ so that we might also share his resurrection”. St Paul I think. Bible believing Christians who don’t know their bible. Baptism is one of the seven sacraments. It is not a symbol. It is an outward sign of an inward grace that works a real change in the recipient. This is the teaching of the Church, as it was since the time of the apostles. That’ll be the Catholic Church btw.

Jesus told the thief on the cross next to him: "Today, you'll be with me in paradise" because of the thief's repentance and faith. When and how did the thief get baptized? It's the Holy Spirit who is the catalyst for our regeneration (Titus 3.5), and getting baptized out of obedience reflects this regeneration that's already begun. Baptism is a sign, or at least it was for Jesus. He didn't need his heart to be regenerated, as he is sinless, yet he was baptized. There is no evidence the thief was baptized, but Jesus saw that his heart was being regenerated, as no one can come to faith in Christ without the Holy Spirit. On the other hand, many who treat baptism as just part of a salvation checklist and think the act of baptism will save them without repentance and regeneration from the Holy Spirit will have been baptized in vain.

This guy should of left when they put a women in a Bishop position, that alone is an abomination by Gods word. As Paul said, Eve was deceived first, women are emotional, forget facts and the Word of God. It is clear. Why Homosexual Bishops and Preist was the straw that caused them to leave, That conviction should of happened soon with women being put in charge of church officers. "I am the Lord God, and I do NOT CHANGE" Times changes, Morality by general consenses has changed, but God's truth and requirements for us and the Church has NEVER CHANGED.

A strange view of baptism,the New Testament is clear believe and be baptised.I know that this is not the C of E stand but it is interesting that you sited this as a reason to leave.The point that you sited about atonement theory is not my view it is a shame that to you this is the gospel message. The gospel message is in Matthew,Mark, Luke and John.The life death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ there are about eight atonement theories ( how the cross works).It is a great shame that the one that you have chosen ( the reformed one is I believe a mid representation of who God is)

The Bible is the Word of God but it can very easy be incorrectly interpreted. Therefore, you need to go back to the Church that has the sole authority to interpret scripture correctly. There is only One Church in Christ but we have many churches. Here again, the Anglican church is splitting and dividing and this vicar proclaiming heretical statements about the Sacrament of Baptism. It is not a symbol! The Catholic Church is the one founded by Christ and professing the faith that the Apostles believed.

I believe he was referring to this: "Last month, during its regular December meeting, the House of Bishops published new guidance on how an existing rite, for the Affirmation of Baptismal Faith, could be used to enable transgender adults to mark their transition. The House decided that no special or new liturgy should be prepared for this purpose. Instead, it decided that existing liturgy could be used, and has provided guidance for clergy on how they could use it in this context, should they wish to do so."
@adampowell5376
@adampowell5376 Год назад
@@mrbrit6746 None of this surprises me. It is already happening in the Old Catholic Church in the Netherlands which is in Communion with the Anglican Communion. It has happened in the Old Catholic Church of St Peter and St Paul in Amsterdam and in the OC Church of St Anna and St Maria in Haarlem where I was a witness. I do not think that any Priest is forced to do this against their conscience and therefore do not see it as an adequate reason for resignation.

I suppose I know what this is really about. The Archbishop of Canterbury that you have to learn to live with homosexual people as individuals for whom Jesus also lived and died and rose again but you refuse. You prefer GAFCON, a Nigerian based church who think that homosexual people should be sent to prison for upto 7 years for being in a relationship. That does not seem very Christlike to me; locking people up because they love of each other.

I find it arrogant that you think that you are teaching the "pure word of God". As someone who tries to be like Jesus I fear that GAFCOM is even further removed from Jesus than the Church of England.
