I’m a sophomore in high school and oh my gosh! Yale is my biggest dream school. I’m working my butt off just so I can get into that school. It gets stressful and of course, the doubt creeps in but I pray in Jesus name that I get in, I can’t even believe how I’ll act if I get in 😩
yale has been my dream school since i was ten years old. i’m currently applying for the yale bassett award and i plan on applying to yale next year, but i’m not sure how much of a chance i have to get in
Ayy, that's amazing! I support you 100%; if you have any questions or anything, lemme know. I'm gonna try to put out a lot of good content, especially 'cause I have break, lol. In the mean time, best of luck in getting the Yale Bassett Award, and I hope your college process is going well: start early!
I applied too! I wish you so much luck! We are gonna find out our response so soon, and the wait is really killing me!! Also, I completely feel you on being uneasy about applying to Yale. My sister is a third year and tells me all about the diversity in student backgrounds, personalities and interests. This video runs parallel to what she says about the people accepted into Yale. So, I believe in you, and I wish you the best of luck during your process!!
I'll hold you to it! Honestly, probably some time in the future 'cause I need to get things flowing here first! :D But who knows how soon? Only time will tell, haha. Regardless, I'll be supporting you, and for sure!!! ^_^
Just applied through quest bridge, now I gotta wait for a month and 2 days wishing for the acceptance from yale. Kinda glad that I have been doing what you were doing so far. And congrat on your great achievement. Are you going to make another video about your sat score soon?
Could you please let us know how you manage your time when you were in high school? e.g. sleeping time, homework time, and time for the extra activities etc. more in detail please, also how to plan your schedule when you were in high school.
It's not an easy thing to do, that's for sure haha. But don't be discouraged! My recommendation is to definitely keep an agenda and always schedule and prioritize activities. Also, allocate time for certain things. Be consistent and keep a routine!
Thanks for the advice to an anxious freshman! How dual enrollment/college courses compare to other courses in the college app. By the way, amazing video! #subscribed
I’m a sophomore with an overall average of 92 (I’m not sure how that translates to gpa) and I’m not involved in too many clubs but do have passions, If I final with lets say a 94 or 95 is it possible to make it into an Ivy League?
I have gotten a total of 2 B's between my freshman and Sophmore year. If I get all A's the rest do I even have a chance, after all Yale is my dream school
My PSAT score is only 1080 but imma try to fix that but I have at least a 4.0 GPA (I forgot to check but I think it's a little higher because of honors classes). But I haven't taken and don't really plan on taking AP classes? I'm only a sophomore but if I contribute to get good grades in honors classes and get a good SAT score, would I have a chance at this school or some top schools? I'm not sure what I want to do and don't know if I necessarily want to get into a top school but I think it would be cool if I could lol
If you can get at least a B in your AP classes, definitely take them! Colleges want to see that you're taking a rigorous course load and that you're actually challenging yourself and taking advantage of your school's curriculum!
Arnold Setiadi I take a lot of honors classes but no AP classes. I have a lot of room senior year so maybe I could take and AP class considering I have to have four classes anyway. Even if I only take one AP class (like AP psychology or something) would that help?
Arnold Setiadi ok thanks for responding! I'll probably see what AP classes there are and see if I'm interested in any, so I'll get a class that I actually like and whatever benefits it can have on my GPA, despite only having like one or two AP classes
What if you come from a top school and you may not be at the very top of your class, will the admission officers see that you are not competitive enough based on this background?
Every single case is different, especially because everyone has different qualities and traits, asides from GPA itself. Course Load, improvement, extracurriculars, essays, and all of that are truly very important!
Just to preface, I'm not an Admissions Officer, haha; that being said, I personally and honestly think that everything is relative and it's important to have context within every situation. Generally speaking, however, if your Test Scores, GPA, and therefore Transcript are really low, even if you have crazy amazing extracurriculars, it'll most likely be difficult to get in because Yale is first and foremost an academic institution. Then again, there are exceptions for everything and every case is different!
Well, everything is relative to your class. I think that Class Rank is more important than your actual GPA, per say. So, generally, try to be in the Top 10% of your class. For example, the Valedictorian out of 500 people could have a 3.8 out of 4.0 GPA.
