Ohhh my goodness sweet Kristen… I find we are most hard on ourselves! As I’ve said before, you’re so authentic- that’s what draws us to you! Your mums aren’t dead. Pinch off the brown and give them a little water every other day or so; they will continue to bud and bloom. Don’t throw them out at the end of the season. Plant them and cut them down to ground level… they will come back next fall. Your home is beautiful!

I personally follow you because you keep it real! While all the other RU-vidrs make their home look Pinterest worthy I find myself unfollowing them after a while because it sometimes seems unrealistic to the majority of us who don’t have the budget or the time to do or buy all those “beautiful things” I love your channel and especially how honest and real you are. I have never done a project where things did not go wrong, something always goes wrong, it seems to be a part of the process, trial and error, you learn as you go but persisting gets it done, working through all the mishaps and obstacles gets it done and you certainly did that with this project and it looks terrific! Oh Kristen please don't beat yourself up because things don't go right or aren't done perfectly. The truth is everytime I have watched videos of those perfect homes I have ended up feeling discontent and disheartened that my home is nothing like that. I just discovered your channel a few weeks ago and I cannot tell you how much i have been blessed by it. The Lord has shown me through your videos that I don't have to have everything 'perfect' to have a home that brings joy and contentment. I often would start a project, something would go wrong and I'd feel frustrated with myself that i had somehow failed once again. I'm a mum of 7 so i don't have a lot of free time to get the things done that I would like to do either. Your honesty is so refreshing and encouraging. When we moved to another state over 9 years ago and bought this new to us/older fixer upper home, watching my 2 boys grow up faster than I thought possible... I'm still struggling to find the positives each day, but I do... Here are my go to sayings... "progress over perfection" and "don't measure yourself with someone else's ruler". You are raising children and being a wife...trying to find time for you AND working!! Personally, I think you are keeping it real and doing an amazing job. I subscribed because I enjoy your videos and projects. Honestly, you are doing great! Mums are pretty, but I've sent many of them to an early grave! This year, I heard you should repot them in rich potting soil, water daily, and pick off dead blooms. If I drove by and saw your house I would tell my husband, oh honey look how pretty that farmhouse is. There is a guy on RU-vid and his channel is the anti Chef because it's about him teaching himself how to cook. In the first year, he made some real disasters. But he kept at it and finally cooked the dishes correctly. So, that gives the rest of us courage to try and not take failure so personally. Same with watching you.
