I’m 52 and I aspire to have as grown-up and sophisticated home as you already have! I’m sorry, but I kinda see you following what everyone else on RU-vid is doing, and the reason I’ve enjoyed watching you is because you are DIFFERENT. You truly do not need to assimilate to a specific look, that all the others have regurgitated over and over again. Homogenizing everything to look something like it came from a big box store is not going to fit your already elegant personal style aesthetic. You are amazing and unique, Kristen! You definitely do not need to download the same artwork that people with no imagination or talent are using. Your collection of pictures are breathtaking and such a sweet soft beautiful look. You haven’t even done anything yet on my end, but I fear what I’m about to see!
She's young and leaning into her need for change. If we don't change things up once in a while it begins to feel stagnant. Just because you feel a certain way doesn't mean she's doing something wrong. Let her do what makes her happy, instead of projecting what you think onto her. ✌️
The comment was a bit dramatic at the end there lol.. .on the one hand I see your point, and on the other she did pick out her favorite prints out of thousands and it’s okay to move away from the sometimes stuffy air of thrifted art. I find that these downloadable offer a classic look with monochrome tones making it a more modern choice.
😂 it’s kind of ironic that the new trend is the look you have already achieved. You were ahead of the trend. A moody color room…collected look with your gallery wall. That’s a lot of work. I can understand wanting to lighten up the room as it will be used as a nursery/kidroom. It’s beautiful what you have, I’m sure what you refresh will look beautiful too. Love the new frames. Love your channel.
Hi Kristen. I literally spent my whole Saturday watching your RU-vid videos and I think you are amazing. I love your beautiful home and I love how you decorated your home. You are authentic and unique. I also love how you are sharing the good news of Christ. A big thank you for these inspiring videos from a Sunny South. Africa
Kristen, I love that look. I think as women who loves to make our homes beautiful, we have to go through change. I love it and I can't wait to see what else your going to do.
Changing out your wall art to one large print and moving the plant to the corner made a lovely new look. The DIY of lamp and vessel turned out great. Thank you for sharing your design journey and the inspiration today about creating and God's creation!
Kristen, I love the changes you made. The large print above your couch and the fiddle leaf fig plant really made a beautiful change. Your home is simply beautiful. You look adorable with your “baby bump”. Your are such a beautiful woman inside and out and I love how you share scripture on your channel. God bless you and your beautiful family!
I admit I always enjoyed your gallery wall, but I too am always ready for a change. What I love about you is your style and how you don’t follow the trends that are happening every season. Your home is always an extension of you and your family and when someone walks in your home they learn who you are In a way that words don’t speak and actions don’t show. Love your video as always! ❤
I too enjoyed seeing your gallery wall, but it’s your home dear Kristen, so it needs to suit your tastes and you’ve got to love it. You have a beautiful style.
Kristen, I rarely comment but always like and follow the content creators that inspire and speak to me. I too am from Nebraska, my parents are still there (west of Lincoln in a small community) and I moved to Arkansas exactly 20 years ago and still gravitate towards things that remind me of home (Platte River comment when looking at art, warmed my heart...I Love the simplicity of the Platte). I grew up in the family business, (parents were antique auctioneers and collectors) and I too have a house filled with ALL kinds of antiques (from many eras and styles, victorian, primitive, crocks, etc). I love your style as it is very similar to mine. Like you, I constantly change things up and lately, I too seek more simplicity but struggle because I LOOOOOVE all my old things! Keep doing you and share yourself with us. I admire you for putting content together and sharing it with us. Those who comment what you should and should not be doing----Ignore them. The creative design process is a deeply personal thing and you and only you get to decide what speaks to your heart. Thanks for sharing your vulnerability with us.
Love how the lamps turned out! I have to admit that I was so sad to see your gallery wall go. It was my favorite spot in your house. It added so much character. I’ve directed friends to it as an example. Whatever you do is beautiful though.💛
I actually really like the layered empty frames on the mantle with the candles! And just having the large print be the focal print in the room. Your DIYs came out great! ❤
I loved the gallery wall, but it’s always fun to swap things around! If you can find a piece of foam core or 1/4 inch plywood you can make a baker board for your large print. Krysta Meeker has lots of tips for using the old frames! ❤
When I was growing up, not only did we move once a year, my mom was always changing her decor, and rearranging everything. So rearranging things and changing out art and decor feels like the natural thing to do. No matter how much work it takes for me, it’s worth it in the end, because I want to be in love with everything. It always makes me see all of the beautiful things that I’ve collected again, instead of them “being part of the furniture.” Gallery walls are really fun and pretty, but they’re busy. For the season you’re in of wanting things more simple, the switch you made seems perfect.
That is exactly how I feel. I love our little home. I like to make it unique. I change out our bedroom by changing the comforter and a few other things. People tell me it’s too much trouble..it’s my enjoyment . Happy rearranging. 💕💕💕💕
Just lovely . It seems to suit you. I'm always changing things around our house, so I think that moving things from other rooms and painting different colors just works. Shopping my own house keeps me from spending too much money...lol Have a blessed day 🙏
Wonderful inspiration & encouragement for all of us to "take in"! We're all skilled at something & we'll never find out what that skill is unless we get out there and try. The paint refresh on the lamp & crock turned out wonderfully well. I was a bit concerned with your decision to pain the crock, but it actually turned out to be perfect for that corner you were trying to brighten up. I, personally, love being creative in my home. Sometimes my project turns out great, sometimes not, but you just never know unless you try. Thank you for sharing with us!
Kristen, I like gallery walls too. I think you did a great job of picking out the new print for your feature wall. Sometimes when you have a busy life, it's nice to have a calming space for quiet and cozy times. Also, it's fun to change things up. Well done!
You said you wanted the room to feel more grown up and sophisticated... I feel that is what the gallery wall did. The one large framed art seems so predictable to me. Whereas the gallery wall had such style and movement visually. But this is your home. Also in Ivy's room... color drenching walls and trim is so in right now. I love it. Maybe adding a vintage wood wall unit for books and decor would give it that library feel.
I love the single photo vs the gallery! Great update, way to go! You should do a pregnancy update. I would love to hear how the girls reacted to the news.
I like the green room. You could always put a Murphy bed in there and keep it as a library/office. 😊 Ivy will be fine in that room until she is big enough to go upstairs. All your daughters have very mature bedrooms. You could decorate her room for now with old-world teddy bears with pink ribbons around their necks
You look so cute with your pregnancy. I always enjoy your creativity. I loved the room before and I like your changes as well. I know I enjoy changing my home with the seasons. I would love a home like yours to decorate. It’s beautiful. I can’t believe you’ve already been there two years.
Other than a few new pieces of furniture in my home, all my furniture is either old oak or walnut, my walls/trim/ceilings are a creamy white. My picture frames range from modern, thin black, brass or silver, raw edged wood, vintage wood and frameless glass- the pictures range from landscapes, seascapes, family (color and black and white), vintage posters and oil and acrylic paintings. I don’t crown anything like your gallery wall, and I change and rotate everything to freshen the look of a room, I even change out some pictures in the frames according to season. And I tend to the denim blue-navy and olive to forest green fabrics for upholstery and pillows and throws (curtains are a natural linen throughout with wood woven shades). There is nothing wrong with changing things up- we all mature and enter different seasons of our lives where we may be maximalists one season, minimalists another season, etc- and as we mature, our tastes get more refined as in what we like and what we keep as our base, like the blues in my home- that has been a base for all my 41 years as a homemaker. I will say, do not march to the beat of others as in trends, etc- keep to what speaks to your heart, your aesthetics and what works for your family.
You should paint that beautiful molding white I just did my girls room marshmallow for the wall color above the chair rail and under a very very light pink. It’s so beautiful Sherman Williams paint from Lowe’s
Kristen, I absolutely love how your lamp and vase came out! You did a fantastic job. Don't second guess your! If you love it then it's great! I love the new frames, the one over the fireplace looks great with it. The one over the couch is beautiful!! You did a great job. You've got this girl!!! 🥰❤️
I loved your gallery wall. It was gorgeous and inspired me to create one in my home. You have to do what you like in your home, but I will miss seeing that gallery wall.
I would center the frame with your couch. I would like the big plant put on the left of the frame like you suggested. I love the picture in the frame you put on the wall. Looks so neat and clean.
I learned over many years & layers of paint, to go with a light neutral color and bring in my color in accessories, art, even furniture and rugs. I'm getting old so it's easier to change those things, rather than paint 😂❤
You paid a fair price and got 3 lovely frames you'll enjoy for many years. Love the one over the mantel, agree that horizontal is the way to go in the kitchen ( perhaps with a less moody picture?), and centering the large one over the couch gets my vote. You have a wonderful eye for decorating!
The large print over the sofa looked great, but I loved your gallery wall. Your home is so beautiful. You have amazing taste when it comes to decorating.
A gallery wall can be as many pictures as you would like. I have always loved your style I thought the gallery wall was really interesting and it pulled you into the room. I think the vase and the lamp turned out great. Maybe putting the print on a backing board or a piece of MDF it will keep it tight in the frame.
Cut a piece of cardboard to size of frame opening, get double sided tape and adhere to board and carefully place picture on. I’ve been taking prints to Hobby Lobby and having them heat pressed onto thick board and it’s not very expensive.
Thank you for sharing scripture in your videos, Kristen. Doesn't matter what you do it always turns out beautiful. Dont worry about other people's opinions. Its your home, your choice.
