I worked for Whirlpool. We built all of the brand's on our lines, the same hands, the same, designers, the same product parts makers, etc. The only difference in the appliance besides any obvious upgrade, is the name brand we tagged it with at the end. Whirlpool quality went downhill after they moved production t Mexico.
Speed queen for washer and dryer American made and they are workhorses. Intended for commercial nothing fancy but I stand by it for sure-6-8 loads a day for years and going strong.
The tv2000 is by far the best modern washer. Basically a old fashioned machine but remade. Mechanical timer too. The only downside is that u can only get it shipped cuz its a commercial machine
I have the Frigidaire front-load washing machine and dryer. I hate them. The washer leaks, doesn’t clean all that great, and we’ve replaced the heating element in the dryer four times in eight years. Next time it goes out, I’m getting rid of them both. On the other hand, my 1948 Western Holly stove still works great! 😂
For the dishwasher, I use a vinegar with blue food coloring for my dw rinse compartment! I've used it for more than 8 years and have had no problems.! Actually my repairman said it's the best idea ever!
I wish we had this video when we were buying our new microwave, oven and dishwasher a few years ago! But I think we did ok. This is certainly good to know for future reference as we will be in the market for a new fridge and cook top in the next few years. Also, we purchased an LG front loader washer and dryer 11 years ago when we moved in this our house. They are work horses and still going strong!
I have a kitchenaide fridge & love it ! We bought it as a scratched floor model but never found any visible scratches on it ! We did get a good deal compared to some other brands we looked at but it was not 10K for sure.
I love my GAS Stove and GAS Oven combo, but I had electrical issues with it, it's a Whirlpool. The Whirlpool Microwave we also bought with it at the time doesn't evenly heat the food, and sometimes doesn't heat the food, so it's getting ready to go. We bought a GE dishwasher, it's okay, but at the time during rona, they didn't have any Bosch available, the GE is so so, not great, just so so. Good luck, I'm happy for you guys Tawra and family. Blessings to you all.
The Maytag washer 4505 is junk. I hate mine and the dryer is junk too. I am stuck with it bc Lowes only stands by their applainces for 48 Hours, yeah that is how much confidence they have in their products.
I am not a fan of the glass tops. Gonna switch back to the coil style. I have had both a Samsung and Frigidaire in the past 5 years- Samsung ran hot always a boil and never a simmer. Frididaire run cool and takes for ever to boil anything. PLUS the glass does get scratched, burnt on food is difficult to clean etc. I was gentle with mine in cleaning but still the glass top did not look great after 5 years. I'd rather have a less attractive stove and better cooking/cleaning experience.
Speaking from my experience I agree with you on the LG washing machine and dryer. I have had the top loader LG washer and the front load dryer for 10 years and they are still going strong. Just purchased a LG front load washing machine for my elderly mothers cottage we built on my property and I like them as well. I purchased all the Whirlpool appliances you spoke about for the cottage kitchen. The ice maker in the door of the refrigerator makes the ice but I already can’t get it to dispense. The water dispenser works but ice maker locks up. Thank you for sharing.
Went thru 3 washers in 4 years. Front load didn't clean the dirt, top load broke in a year..went with speed queen. Best device so far. Looking for a new dishwasher...cant trust the sales people, they have a quota to meet. This info is fantastic. Thank you thank you
I have a Frigidaire gallery induction convection stove. Heats up great, never had a problem. Was $1100. Best appliance. In June 2018,Ii had to replace washer, refrigerator, stove and dishwasher. Lg fridge, Frigidaire stove, kitchen aid dishwasher, lg washer. The lg dryer has been going for 16 years. Good luck on your appliance purchase adventure.
I have a miele dishwasher, when I bought my house the previous owner pointed it out to me. I had no idea what she meant, but now I know it's so good, it's so quiet I forget it's on. Very informative video, after buying Samsung, which I regret I have concluded to buy old school American , I hope my maytag washer never breaks down because I hate the new front load washers.
My mom’s old stove died. I went to Costco and bought two induction cook things like they use for demonstrations to make people buy things. I paid $60 for each of them. I’ve been using them for five years now and I love them. I could never afford to buy an induction range totally. But God I love my little induction tops. Fantastic.
I traced the bottom of my most used pots and pans. I took them to the appliance store to see which ones fit my traced pots and pans the best. I learned a lot and realized the back burners often have a back splash that doesn’t allow for a big pot to fit on the burner. I’m glad I did it in the end.

Very helpful & informative! Thanks! Phew, I'm glad we don't use Windex & only use a white vinegar & water solution for cleaning! Sounds like we'll stick to that! 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨
Pretty accurate info except for Miele dishwashers, they are German, not Italian. And good luck finding one for the mentioned $900, because the cheapest ones start at about $1,300.
I have a kenmore washers deep fill for 6 years and I only had to replace the front suspension twice in the back once. I think it’s pretty good one. I had a kitchen fridge refrigerator for about 18 year and I couldn’t get that thing to break down for nothing.
I agree about microwaves above stoves. I'm 5'2" and the microwave up high is a BAD idea for me. Also, I like that open space above the stove for being able to cook more easily. I'm willing to sacrifice some counter space and have the microwave sit on the counter. i've got a design in my head for remodelling my house and making a special place for the microwave, but I know it will never happen. It's OK to dream though!
I hate front load washers and will never in my life own another one. It was nothing g but trouble, didn't use enough water and after awhile it stunk and so did my clothes. I bought a top loader and have been happy with it. I have a kitchen aid dishwasher for 17 yrs now. Never once had to repair it. Just replaced my 17 yr old Fridgidaire fridge. It still works, never had to repair it either. Didn't want to wait and be caught without a fridge.
have a Kitchen Aid dishwasher and love it... Had a Miele in my last house and it was great. Couldn't get one during covid but I find my kitchen aid dries better.
I also have an Electrolux front load washer and dryer. No problems - knock on wood - in 5 years and I love them. I'm waiting for delivery of my new GE Slide-In gas stove. Reviews are great and I'm surprised he didn't mention GE. GOOD REVIEW!
Here to find out about dishwashers, but want to throw in "yes" for the Panasonic microwave. We've had two in about 15 years. The original had the push "button" that opens the door break off the mechanism, but we just caught it in hand as it tried to fly off and used anyway because it was so reliable. Eventually replaced it with another. It's been excellent for us.
Loved the video! Very informative. You didn’t mention the ZLINE gas range. I purchased one several years ago, haven’t had a problem with it, but I was just wondering if it’s a good gas stove, or if the repair man had anything negative to say on that brand of gas stove. Would love for you to ask him about that brand.
@@claudiahansen4938 I bought Westinghouse which is a common brand in Australia apparently more easily repaired and mid range price. I have used it for about 7 years with no issues. I reckon they are under the Electrolux banner.
@@alisoncook526 love your last name it is somehow appropriate to the subject at hand! We are building a new home in Florida with a Jenn Air induction cooktop. My pots and pans will work, but I need a decent frypan because all I have now are aluminum with nonstock coating. Which frying pans do you use on yours?
I'm surprised GE wasn't mentioned. I had always thought GE was best. When I was trying to replace my refrigerator, I was looking for a GE, but we were limited to the size of the fridge we could get because of the doorway widths in our older home and because of an overhanging cabinet. Whirlpool was about our only choice so that is what we got. We are very happy with it so far. I might add, I still have my Jenn Air built in range from 28 years ago. It was one of the newest glass tops and other than my broiler not working and one element, it is still going strong lol. The only reason I haven't replaced it is because I can't find one that will fit the space without a lot of customizing of the peninsula that it is in.
GE was talked about at the beginning of the companion video on What NOT to buy. A worthwhile watch considering all the mergers, acquisitions and consolidations these days.
I purchased the GE refrigerator 3 door with the freezer drawer on the bottom. Was told GE is the easiest to service because it is America made. I haven’t had any issues with my refrigerator. The only drawback is that the water filter needs to be replaced about every 6 months and they are pricey.
@@wendyhollingsworth1875Good to know. I think water filters are all pricey. I think ours is about $58. So far we haven't had to change it and it is close to 4 months now. There are only two of us, so I am hoping it will last 6 months. A lot of the GE's are tall or wide. I couldn't find one to fit our space under cabinet and also go through our doorway into kitchen.
Took awhile to replace my 23 yr old stove. Finding an electric, white, coils, self-clean stove took forever. I didn’t want all the fancy. Did find a GE but not the quality from what I had. Good with older Amana fridge and LG front load W & D. You have to do your research.
A few months ago my whirlpool dishwasher broke for the second time in 3 years. We could not get the part for it for a month. We decided to go with a GE this time. I have all GE in my kitchen bc it was affordable. I hope they last. 🙏🙏
Fantastic information! I've been waiting for this video since you first mentioned it over a month ago. I bought a fixer upper and have held off on replacing the range and built in microwave but I did have to buy a fridge and washer/dryer. I bought a brand new top freezer whirlpool fridge from a scratch and dent store for $200. The same one from Costco that sells for $800+. I also splurged on a GE front load stacking set. Hopefully that one holds up for a few years.
You can still buy the basic Whirlpool dryer shown in the video. I got a very basic Whirlpool washer and dryer last year from Costco online super inexpensive. Less than 500 each. My washer and dryer are in the basement where no one sees them so no need for anything fancy.
When we purchased our last washer and dryer, we could care less about what color or if they even matched, so we saved over $1000 dollars because we didn't care, our washer is white in color and our dryer is brown in color,
I got a Panasonic nuker and like being able to move it and clean underneath. Nice info. Peroxide and magic erasers get cat boogers off the walls the best or dried sauce then don't have to sand and touch-up paint. I tried everything. Cat boogers are like super glue.
@@stephanie_2189 I tried everything people swore by til I found the peroxide tip. Used acetone on something red in my bathroom sink. No idea what it was but only acetone worked. Finally found a toilet cleaner that actually works with real hard water. Genuine Joe acid cleaner. As I was pouring it it started working. Shocked me. Let it sit, scrubbed and perfectly clean. No more I hope a visitor doesn't need to use the bathroom.😆Have to be real careful with it. Like muriatic acid.
We have hard water!!! Is there anything other than a water softener for the entire house that we can do to help extend the life of appliances that use water???
I agree with all said about the Maytag men I got that washing machine and is being strong for 10 years and I used every single day only thing I don’t like is that I wish it will load more water other than that I like it.
The over-the-oven microwaves also don't vent well enough, especially on top of gas stoves which need major ventilation. You really need a dedicated hood.
Front loaded washing machines are very hard to load and unload for older people. The Fisher and Paykel made in N.Z would have to be the best washing machine. Kiwi
Thanks for the interesting segment. For the sake of credibility, your very first question for this service person probably should have been, "Are you affiliated with any particular dealer or distributor of large appliances?". It seems like we heard Whirlpool mentioned in response to most of the product categories, and the fact that he gave no mention of Speed Queen in the washer/dryer category really made me wonder about his potential bias.
This is the second part of another video where he mentioned Speed Queen being the best top load washers. I found him to be credible. He talked about the service contracting side of things in the other vid as well.
My question and I have been a installer for some time but I never get to ask about problems. What about GE? I been a big fan of GE for many years. Thanks
We have a GE Monogram double wall oven. Less than 7 years old numerous computer problems can't get parts top oven broke 2 years ago and now the bottom one went out. He said no all GE made in Communist China.😡
Refrigerator:- Beko/ Dishwasher:-Bosch/ Dryer and washing machine:- Beko/ all of them great almost 12 years using them… but not happy with range hood.. any thing better!?
I bought a house many years ago. All the appliances are Jenn Air. I have replaced the dish washer and Microwave. The Oven is Electric and cook top is gas. The worst thing is the cook top is down draft. There is no vent in the ceiling. The down draft in the problem. Not many makes make a down draft. I love the cook top and oven. I would like a choice. I would like your opion.
Loved my Asko washer and dryer 😍 Dishwasher rocked. L G fridge is horrid! Compressors always break every few months. Never again!! Miele is German and Asko is Swedish!
Pistol - What are your thoughts about refrigerators and freezers that are located under the counter top (half/height). They look like another cabinet. I am not talking about a mini fridge.
Thank you! This was a great video. I have a couple questions, what about top load Speed Queens and the dryers? Has he heard of Artic Wind refrigerators? Back when they were hard to get I settled for an Artic Wind. UG worst decision ever. I hate it and well.... now have to save up enough $$$ to do something else in the future, but now I am armed with great information. I do love my Speed queen! Also, I inherited my Grandmother's Chambers stove. THE BEST EVER! Love it.
I had trouble with nobs on my glass top cooker … a pot boils over and water gets into switch and burns it out !! I had to get mine fixed three times … costs mega bucks
I have a 24 year old ge smooth top range that I paid $50 for on a special sale when Nebraska Furniture Mart opened in Kansas City . I have replaced heating element in oven twice, and burner twice. Still am money ahead
I have LG washer and dryer about 8 years old. Paid $1800 for the pair and still working! Thank you Jesus! 🕊️🙏 Also have LG fridge paid $3800 12.5 years ago. Still working. This has been extremely helpful info. I have a built in oven and microwave combo which is priced at a totally unreasonable price. My oven exploded and caught on fire so now I need to replace both. Also need a new dishwasher, garbage disposal and a burner top. He has definitely help me make my decisions on what to buy. I have done without a working kitchen for a while because I couldn’t make a decision after hearing horror stories about different appliances.
Avoid Magic Chef microwaves. I have had 3 of them and if they get dirty at all the oils go into the vents and smoke will come out & even flames and the button on the door completely stops working and the glass plate that sits on the tiny round plastic thing keeps coming off and its on a ring and the glass keeps moving off of that as well.
My Jenn Air wall oven is 40+ years old The new wall ovens look better made than other brands … except Viking Some of the same brand appliances are made in different countries now🙄 Ya never know what you’re getting & where it’s coming from today. I spend so much time .. on research 🧐 pita too do.
Induction is better than electric coils, electric flat tops, and gas. It heats faster than any other technology, cleans in 10 seconds with a paper towel, uses 1/3rd the power and won’t heat up your kitchen. Considering power savings is same price as electric flat tops over time.
