Great tin guys. Some different ideas than the normal. Never thought of a basic lock pick set.im in the UK and obligations we have extremely tight rules carrying any kind of fixed or locking blades however small. You also have to provide an explanation for carrying lock picks but I think you're OK as part of an emergency kit ? Good video. Best wishes from England 👍

Outstanding kit my friend. I make several of my own kits which also include the same lock pick cards. ASA would be a good addition if not already included. Also a few feet of Kevlar cord and a small whistle. Best kit I’ve seen, much better than the pre-made kits. Keep up the great work. Atb. Diane.

One of the best, if not the best Survival tin kit, Ive ever seen! Good job there! Kevlar cord is also a great idea, it can be used as a saw, to cut stuff that a wood saw can't cut. It's also very tough for it's thickness/weight ratio and very abrasion and flamable resistant. Best survival cord in my opinion.

That really is an impressive little kit you have created there, compact yet comprehensive. I already have a couple larger self made kits knocking about and usually i find pre packaged kits to be underwhelming and over priced, but i'd actually consider buying this.

Thanks for the feedback! Ya, we tried to cover all the 10 C's of Survival Preparedness but with items that would fit into a small tin, as well as adding the lock pick set, rod saw and leatherman squirt PS4 making this an "elite" and E&E focused tin. :) If you are interested in purchasing please email us at lifeinthenorth40@protonmail.com.

Totally true. That is one of the reasons we put it in the kit, other than for cleaning, hygiene and for use for evaporative cooling albeit that its fairly small.

I've been using my Squirt PS4 for 13 years. I use it a lot for one thing or another--pliers, screwdrivers and files for the most part Looks a little beat up, but other than that, it's still going strong. Paid $20 on Amazon. Too bad Leatherman discontinued them.

Never strike a ferrocerium rod with the blade of your knife. You will ruin the edge. Use the spine. Also, slow down your strike and make it more purposeful. Pull on the rod, don't push the blade. You should put a poly handcuff key in. Other than that, not bad.

This is a great kit. You should consider replacing one paper clip with an insulated one to make it safer to complete/short a circuit. My only other suggestion would be to put the bandaids and alcohol pads at the top. My most common boo-boos are on my hands, and I wouldn't want to have to dig for the bandages....[[|:-)

While I can appreciate what you put together on a certain level, I generally steer people away from altoid tin survival kits. One thing these kits tend to do is give people a false sense of security. Too many people make these things then imply that they’re going to save your life. The reality of survival is they won’t. Maybe they will if you are a PRACTICED survivalist, but realistically, most people aren’t, and what I’ve seen time and again, people attempt techniques they are not skilled at, and just end up wasting the very limited resources such small kits offer. I did appreciate you saying that you should learn to pick locks before before attempting to use the picks in that kit, but at the end of the day.. for the average person to come out on top of a true survival situation, where you are stressed, and your fine motor skills fail you, as they always will.. you need a much bigger kit, with more resources, especially medical supplies, like proper bandages and tourniquets etc.. I only recommend having these mini kits as an add on and frequently practicing any skills required to use items in them. I don’t mean any of this to bash what you made, just to offer some constructive criticism, so you don’t give people a false sense of confidence that may lead them to failure, then having it blow back on you. Perhaps advertising it as a last ditch kit, after all other properly prepared resources have been depleted, might be more in order and save you some heartache down the road. I wish you both the best of luck on your new channel. Cheers.

All good points! Appreciated your feedback as well. Mini tins are very limited as you stated, its all about user capabilities and knowledge as well as the items in the kit.

I've never seen any one demo those lock pick cards I dought the quailty and wouldn't be surprised if they didn't work at all
@LifeintheNorth40
@LifeintheNorth40 2 года назад
They are definitely not as good as a real set. However just like anything, you are only as good with them as you practice/train with them. As you know picking locks is a feel/art that only gets better with practice. And is perishable. They are very basic with just the tensioner, hook and rake set up. Like you I haven't seen a video of a demo with one of the lock pick card sets either. Thanks so much for watching our channel.

Hi! This is one of the ones we use, they are often called hand tool repair kits. They frequently run out on amazon so sometimes we have to switch brands. www.amazon.com/Hand-Tool-Repair-Kits-Card/dp/B09HRJPY2F/ref=sr_1_21?crid=24XCWRWBQ431B&keywords=lock+pick+set&qid=1642552091&sprefix=lock+pick+set%2Caps%2C185&sr=8-21

Escape? Really? If you are captured you will be stripped of all your gear. Therefore, your kit will belong to your captor. The only way to use something to escape with is if your captor doesn't find it. If you aren't stripped naked you may be able to use a few tiny but useful hidden items in your clothing. (In hems & seams usually) (just hope they don't use a metal detector wand...) An E & E tin is nothing but a useless item that gives you a false sense of security.
