Hi Pete I’ve recently picked up one of these guitars they are excellent like yourself i too had to do some fret work on it not much but it makes all the difference.I’ve just subscribed to your channel as well ....🎼🎶🎸👍🏼
Great stuff. And thanks. I had to pretty much smooth out the frets at both ends all the way along the fretboard. It's hard to believe any QC was done at the factory. But the payoff is a great quality instrument and a bargain price. When I was a youth I could only dream of affordable guitars like these.
Kurt Corbain's jazzmaster was a parts caster and it's pick ups are di marzio super distortion. So a squier contemporary jag would not have gotten you there anyways. In retrospect. Lol
I've had a number of Fender Jazz masters and Jaguars, a couple of which have been Cobain style modded versions. Never really had any mojo, so sold them
@@PetesGuitarUniverse it's the super distortion pick ups. I don't like them either. For humbucker I prefer pearly gates or Jeff Beck's Duncan's. For single coil I prefer P90 ot Texas specials. But a real jazzmaster has to have the intended jazzmaster pick ups And the second circuit. That together with a floating trem (vibrato) is what defines a jazzmaster as a concept.
@@PetesGuitarUniverse i always replace those with a Wilkinson roller bridge. Any guitar i own with a trem gets a roller bridge for minimal friction. Even the cheapest of cheap floating trem stays in tune with Rollers. Ridged bridges just are really intended for tremolos. They damage the integrity of the strings too. Their fine as a fixed bridge.
Great vid mate, nice music, I got the same guitar , can you do a video about the mods/upgrades you have done please?, I also would like to upgrade the bridge and remove tone knob, thanks, Marty
Nice demo. Shows the tonal versatility. Was after the ghost version of this where the p90 pickups are hidden. What kind of weight is it. Heavy or light? Cheers
Thanks. It's a mid weight. I'd say slightly lighter than a real Fender Jaguar or Jazzmaster. Just by feel. Sounds great in the room. The P90's are very welcome tonally.
@@PetesGuitarUniverse you are an original player .. quite inspiring here ., thanx for demonstrating this guitar , I’m thinking of getting one myself ..🙏👍🎸
@@PetesGuitarUniverse if you like stop by at my galaxy ...we can meet in music 🎶 have some new tunes out ., and I have the same goal .. trying to be original
The P90's are an acquired taste. Personally, I didn't like them until a couple of years ago, when I fell in love with them at a Sonic Youth gig. Now I'm totally into them... the big Jazz master versions are a bit 'too' big (at least, to my eyes), but the smaller versions are just about right IMHO
Thanks for posting this and really liked your music! I’ve had mine a couple of years now and it’s been fantastic. Beautifully constructed, sounds wonderful and never any issues with tuning. I now have three Revelation guitars and I love them.
@@PetesGuitarUniverse I’ve got the RJT 60/4 Quad which, again, is very versatile and has four pickups. Once more, the construction in unreal for the price. I also have a TTX-64 which is my least favourite overall but the neck pickup is to die for. I’m doing a couple of Cure covers with a mate of mine in the US (Holy Hour & Other Voices from their 1981 album Faith) and I’m using the RJT-60 (just like yours) and it’s doing a great job. Anyway, thanks again!
