Thanks for this video. I have a Revelation 12 string Jazzmaster and likewise I’m shocked how good it is. Needed NO setup, stays in tune like of not better than a 6 string and immediately inspired me to play it. I’m playing it mostly with the ATN off but your video gave me a great hint now at how to use it. I have another Revelation coming for Christmas and can’t wait. And I find it hard to understand why they are so obscure when they are so good at this price point.
I've just bought the four single coil model. The pickups are Entwistles take on Vox, I think. Very sparkly and they pair well with the ATN. Any adjacent pair combine to give a humbucker-like tone. Three adjacent, or all four, get too woolly, but that leaves a huge range of useful distinctive tones. It's a bit quiet, and benefits a lot from clean boost. I might try making a passive bass cut stomp box to do the same job as your volume down trick. Mine would only need it on the darker ATN positions though. Early days with it, and it does need a bit of work to find the tones. Crazy good value, and distinctive.
I have the Thinline version of this - the RJT60 TL. To be fair it also comes with special Entwistle H90 humbuckers so it is a little different to yours, but I'm not really convinced about them and the ATN-5 circuit. Maybe it's the ceramic part that I don't like, I rarely do, but they just seem too hot for my tastes and rather characterless. I do actually much prefer them when split into single coils using the push/pull tone knob - here the ATN-5 tone circuit seems to make more inroads on the sound and, having watched your lovely presentation, I am supposing that this is because of the reduced output. I still find the tone circuit rather unusable though, even after a couple of years of trying, and that great volume drop when using it causes all sorts of adjustments to be made on stage. I had hoped it would be the perfect gigging guitar but I tend to not gel with it much there; it's just too fiddly (also the pickup switch gets too regularly knocked and gets right under the trem bar, so much so that I sawed the bar down Gilmour style in the end). It's now relegated to home use when I want to experiment with sounds but I can't say I really LOVE it even there; it all feels a little STIFF and undynamic. Shame really for such a lot of guitar for the money. Like you I picked it up second hand for similar money.
Ive got the very same model, pickup for £125, honestly blew me away, still don't know how this price produced such a great guitar. My main player now, my much loved 2008 american tele stays in the case, just love the p90's and even using the whammy the damn thing never goes outta tune. good tippage on the ATN control, it can sound muddy as you say..loves a pedal too . good review !
I have this in the sea foam green color. It's a looker and I agree with your review 100% from the cool headstock shape(which I'm very picky on) to the sound. I'm glad you noted how well it stayed in tune as I've honestly been shocked at how well mine does. Recently been putting it through a lot of heavy shoegaze glide guitar nonsense and its been stellar. I'm still not sold on the ATN5 but I'll give your volume trick a shot. I do like the 5th/jazz position though with its clean, airy almost acoustic quality to it. I've been using it as a semi 2 to crunch switch between that and the 1st position. All in all its a great guitar that I highly recommend with fantastic fit and finish.
I have a sunburst version - really good guitar but it does have flaws: nasty tuners and flimsy plastic on the knobs and chicken head tone mode switch - I've replaced the 'plastics' and also the tuners with perfectly sufficient locking ones bought cheap from China - I changed the pickups for Tonerider Vintage90's too - huge improvement in clarity, not that the stock ones were bad at all - fretboard and tremolo system are fabulous - great review, thank you - I hadn't twigged that the tone mode switch interacts with the volume knob settings. I can pick a new one of these up for £240 in all black brand new. Black pick guard. Same x90 pickups. Was trying to get a ghost model but none about. Would you recommend one? Have quite a few guitars a lot of p90 and hunbucker guitars and these have really caught my eye. Anything negative you would say?
I loved it, sold it to fund new gear, but it was a lovely guitar. The ATN thing is fab, makes it really versatile. The pickups are not exactly p90s, but have their own thing going on. 250 is a good price and you could flip it if you're not feeling it 🙂

Hi. I bought a cheap pbass pickup, split it in half. Then I pulled the magnet of one half and littereally wired it in directly in place of the little inductor (which is the taped up black thing).
I don't suppose you could do me a massive favour and take a picture of the wiring? I've been trying to repair mine for a year and no matter what I do I cannot get it working again! I emailed Revelation and they basically said "looks different to ours" and then ignored me from there on out!
Dude, I've just packed it up to sell. Mine had a broken inductor coil (the black taped up block) Alan Entwistle told me to replace it with half a cheap PBass pickup (which works perfectly) . Ask in this Facebook group, really helpful when they can be facebook.com/groups/985094165184359/?ref=share
Hi there! I also would love to see the wiring ... the other day I wanted to swap pickups, and (probably caused by me when removing pickguard) one of the ATN wires went loose .... now I don't know how to put it back where it belongs ... any help anyone PLEEEEASE
