This kit (the blue RS early version), was the first kit that I purchased in the late 90s, when I got back to modelling, that represented the new tooling that Revell had start making with high accuracy. Compared to MPC (or AMT) kits I used to build, this kit was amazing. The high number of parts and the no assembly problem make this kit a good value even today.

Same here. My first car is my 71 Sport Suburban (Fury Wagon) that is in my Tour Video and still own it. My second car was a 69 Town & Country parts car. Car is gone but it's original 440 was in my wagon years ago. Replaced by a built 68 440 that lasted about 20 years. Now that 69 440 is built into a 512 stroker and going back in my wagon for a second time. Third car that I bought new is my 99 S10 Xtreme that we still own and drive daily. Fourth was an 88 Mercury Tracer that I got for cheap and used for a few years till crank snapped. Off to junk yard. My wife has her second car 71 Chevelle. Her first was a 79 Ford Futura that she hated and crashed. Then came a 70 Sport Suburban parts car that I also still have. And last is a 2006 Ram 2500 5.9 Diesel. That my wife drives daily. So we have owned only 8 cars total, 3 off to junk yards and still have the rest.

@@TheMuscleCarModeler. That's awesome. In my lifetime, I owned a lot of cars. Most were cars i bought and flipped to support my drag racing and Pro Street cars. But ALL of them were Mopars. The one chevy I owned was a 1966 Chevy Impalla SS Convert. It was given to me but I just fixed it and sold it. Long before it was of any value. Now it's worth a mint. And one of the fords I owned was a pinto s/w which I turned into a big block mopar powered, tube chassis Pro Street car. Which I sold. lol

Very cool and informative video Raoul. I am a fan of the first gen Camaros. I have owned a '67 396 SS but by the time I got it, it had been pretty well butchered. I also had a '69, it was a base model with a 350 in it, but it was at least a 4-Speed car so it was fun. I have plans to build a '69 Camaro model one of these days. I like pace cars so that may be my choice to build first. One cool thing about the '67 was that it was a bench seat car, sadly someone had taken it out, but I did get it with the car. The seat had been outside and then stored in a water heater shed so the upholstery was shot, but I had it and it went to the new owners.

Thanks for the tour Raoul! Loved all your builds and what you've done so far. As for all the mixing and matching to achieve a correct build of a particular version, I wish Revell would dispense with those ugly 17" custom aftermarket wheels and put instead more accurate parts to build the particular version they advertise on the box art....but then I'm like you more of a purist builder, wanting to get it as close to the real car as possible. Thanks!

What a great review of that incredible series of kits. I think I’ve built six over the years. Unfortunately I’ve only got three of those left now. My most recent is pretty cool though. I used the pace car convertible and a few random parts to build a main streamer version. I used Fireball Modelworks stock ‘69 Camaro wheel covers, and that same AMT flat hood you mentioned. The Nova exhaust and stock engine parts finished it off for me. I really do wish I could find a convertible up top for it though. Thank you for a great video !

I don't have the kits for that. I did do a video on a 70 Camaro SS. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9sqXiwzNbTI.html This is an old MPC annual that I restored. Also restored a MPC 71 Camaro SS annual. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Uae6eaJR5-4.html. As far as a kit History. That one would be a long story as both AMT and MPC did annuals. They have some differences. Then AMT restored the old tooling and issued a 1970 RS Z/28 kit. Then to add to the confusion, in the late 90's. AMT did an all new tooling 70 RS Z/28 and also a Baldwin Motion 70 Camaro RS. Both old and new tool were available and many bought the old tool thinking they bought the new one. Then recently modified that newer tooling into a Non RS Full Bumper 70 Z/28. I have the newer tooled ones but none of the original kits.

Well, I didn’t look that closely at the body on the newest kit. I was focusing on the differences of the kit components. Plus it’s hard to tell if that is on all the kits of that release or just my kit. We now know it’s all of them but remember that I did this when the kits were first coming out.

@@TheMuscleCarModeler It seems this issue started happening around 2011 and has gotten worse from then. When I found out about it I broke out a few of open kits I have. My Baldwin Motion 69 Camaro (box art that has the motion license plate) the body is perfect in this area. My 69 ZL-1 isn't as noticeable in the rear, but very noticeable in the front. What I'm sad about the convertible version, is that the removed the closed roof top and only kept the open one. Pretty sure it was in the first Monogram ed of the indy version. I know I'm not crazy! I think... Anyway, as I said in your preview vid this week, for me, that's all the same kit, but with certains different trees to make the different versions. And you're really good at research, each time I try to do any, I never find what I want. Also, for the '68 AMT Camaro hood, do you have to do much trim to put it on the Revell '69? One day, I wanna make a base inline 6 Camaro.

Why the B.F. Goodrich decals? I don't know how familiar you are with the "Fast & Furious" movies, but B.F. had a product tie in with at least the 2nd movie in which the LeMans Blue '69 Yenko appeared. Also Year One who makes reproduction parts for muscle cars had a tie-in with the movie and a large "Year One" decal appeared on the back window of the Yenko. A note about the movie car versus a Day 1 Yenko. The movie car actually ran Cragar S/S wheels. For someone wanting to replicate the movie car, you are missing "B.F. Goodrich" white lettering for the tires, and the "Year One" for the rear window. Unless...you buy the flat box Revell of Germany release. This release has the Year One and Goodrich tire decals. As you show in this video, the most recent release of the '69 DOES have Goodrich markings in it. Frustrating. There must be something going on with Revell's U.S. releases versus the imported flat box kits because their 1970 Trans Am has the "Trans Am" markings that have never been included in a U.S. release of that kit. When I built mine, I had to source them from a Fred Cady sheet. I love this video! '69 Camaros are near and dear to my heart. So far I have an Aztec Silver SS Standard Grill convertible and the Hugger Orange ZL-1 in my collection. I actually built the ZL-1 before Revell released that kit. I used R&M of MD resin wheels and Satco Redline tires with everything else from the Yenko kit. There are a lot of RU-vidrs doing model videos, but no one does what you do!
@TheMuscleCarModeler
@TheMuscleCarModeler 8 месяцев назад
Thanks. Yes, the B.F. Goodrich is on the wrong decal sheet. The rest of the decals on the 2Fast Yenko are great. I liked that movie since it was the first with real muscle cars, but I didn't mind the first movie. From 4 on they just got silly but are still entertaining. Did you know that Vin Diesal was not in 2 Fast and was not interested in doing another Fast & Furious? He wanted to do more on Riddick! He was given the rights to Riddick in exchange for appearing in Tokyo Drift. That is why he is at the end.

Very informative, however these are Model kits NOT Replica kits and there's a huge difference between a Model and a Replica. These were never designed for old folk rivet counters, they were designed for Kids to enjoy. I always find it amusing how many people nit pick model kits as if they were designed to be 100% accurate representations when in fact they weren't nor ever stated or claimed to be. Just build em and have fun it really makes a less stressful hobby ;) You can go into great detail easy enough. Folks brand bashing based on stuff they were never supposed to be or have is ridiculous yet funny as Heck to watch.

@@TheMuscleCarModeler Totally, I wasn't referring to you, your videos are awesome for those who want to get them close if not perfect. I have seen many top channels who will bash these companies because they use basic molded items over many kits instead of making brand new accurate molds for every release to help keep costs down. I always laugh when they say things like "Revell is cheap because there was some flash" or AMT is garbage because the engine bay isn't perfect. Sorry if you took that wrong, I love when you go into the detail and you never bash the companies for the lack of detail.
