Just finished this one myself (not in this scheme). I had the same build issues as you (Wheels up, canopy and air brake closed). I got it mostly painted and it just wore me out. It took me 3 months to get back to it to finish the decals, weathering and final varnish. It's not a bad kit, but there are issues that need sorting that aren't the 'fun' kind of sorting! You get to the point you just want to see it gone! Having said that, now it's done and up on display, it looks good and I am glad I did it!
Looks great Mark, really useful info regarding the problems with the kit. I have it in both 48th & 72 scale . Was thinking of getting the black jack one from Revell. We could do with a Tamiya grade kit of this bird. Anyway great video as usual.
Cheers pal. Unlike other revell kits; Inundated with flash and horrific ejector pin marks, this one's is just ill fitting in several key areas and having had a 3rd stab (just to make sure), the conclusion remains the same. Looks like a Eurofighter in the end, but the team that designed the intake, air brake and wheel housing doors definitely did so at 5 to 5 on a Friday afternoon 🫤
Cheers pal. Both pairs of vortex diffusers should be separate parts with locator holes for fitting AFTER paint job and the kit is screaming out for a mask set
@@7Markandrews a mask set would Be great, I painted the spine and tail 3 times before I got a match to the decal red, white base coat same as you, ended up with XF7 , a case of overthinking the paint me thinks 😂 turned out a great model in the end tho, I have the Revell blackjack 1/48 boxing in the stash but I’ll Probably move that on
@@7Markandrews It's actually the type of paint scheme that would an ideal candidate for creating a set of paint masks. Syhart or Montex are brands that come to mind. You did a top job though with what you had to work with. I have a couple of Typhoons in the stash but have been prompting a aftermarket company to produce a 3D printed intake set so am holding off until something is in the mix.
Ah Shane, I do post build reviews and chat. Trust me, had I the time to shoot a build video then spend countless hours editing I would. Unfortunately, wife, kids, job, Model Club, me time, lack of editing skill, lack of know-how, lack of patience means I simply can't. I love watching build videos as much as the next guy, and most of us can only dream of turning out pieces to their high standards, but my channel is more towards building a kit and chatting shit about it's +/- areas, so other builders can learn about how the kit goes together, instead of getting sucked in by awesome artwork, thinking they can emulate that picture or the end result. A lot of videographers who do modelling are in a position where as they've retired, have enough time/ money, don't have other huge commitments, so they can dedicate that time into their videos. To be honest, it's not the actual filming that takes the time, it's the editing. For me, a 49 minute video can take up to 5 or 6 hours to edit, and my videos aren't anywhere near the quality you see from the pro's, but again, when I'm sat editing and my lad is saying dad come and play darts with me, (he's 12), or my daughter is asking with help with her degree, or the wife is asking for a foot rub, well 5 or 6 hours editing is all I can do. Mate, sorry to disappoint with my content, but it's what I do in the time I have. Ps, I did built it, it's right there on the thumb nail dude 😉
