Are people really so dumb that they think Padme wasn't pregnant until she told Anakin that she was pregnant?

We need a five episode miniseries for ROTS, one per day of important events and battles. I feel cheated for not seeing the whole battle over Coruscant.

I never considered the timeline of this movie. When you mentioned Padme's appearance at the beginning and her delivery at the end, I didn't think about that potential plot error. Now I understand why Dave included the scene with Anakin and Padme at Sako Minor - to "extend" the period of Padme's pregnancy while Anakin was away on assignment and unaware, just like any husband. So now that you brought up that issue, you immediately explained. Wizard. I went from , Woo-What, to how can the be, to fully explained, relaxed and more informed. Except for Andor and most Computer Games, placing a date on all of the other media including all the animation is something I really wish Lucusfilms would produce in a Crolnology book, I would enjoy it. How come Anakin didn't notice Padme's belly when he embraced her? Seconds later he asked her if she was alright because she was trembling, and she told him she was pregnant.

I do think there is definitely room in between some days for extra time to have passed, though I have definitely looked at the movie as not spanning more than a couple weeks at most. Though when we first saw the movie in a theater, my dad and I initially assumed that maybe 6 months went by because we thought there was a time jump between Padme's first scene in the movie and the later ones because we didn't realize at first she was just hiding her baby bump with a big robe 😂 We never thought she had *just* become pregnant right before that, but more like she just wasn't showing yet I also tend to think that Luke and Leia were maybe born a little premature (like, nothing extreme, since they appear to have been born perfectly healthy, but still probably not a full 40 weeks), since Padme was talking to Anakin about going to Naboo "early" to set up a nursery (making it seem like she's not really expecting to give birth for a few weeks). The only problem with that I guess is the fact that they had what looked like two three-month-old babies play the twins, but that happens a lot in movies anyway 🤣

It has nothing to do with the pregnancy and more to do with the writing. They way things happen in this movie, and the emotional impact of some of the events, it makes more sense for the events in this movie to take place over the course of a few weeks if not months.

I heard somewhere that Luke and Leia were born 2 days after the Empire was created. I'm not sure what the source of that is but it would mean that it took almost 2 days to travel from Coruscant to Mustafar to Polis Mesa

I would say very close, but I think there was additional day somewhere, as wookiepedia states Padme passed 2 days (not 1) after Empire Day. I think that after Mustafar there was one day when she was at Polis Masa and Vader was at medical centre on Coruscant.

The lore of the prequels has really changed ever since the clone wars came out. While the early seasons were great, you can really start to notice when George really took a step back and let Filoni take the lead. That is when the canonized lore really changed. Then once Disney took over and the last season came out, it went off the deep end. While there were some great moments in the final season ( Maul and Ahsoka, and Ahsoka and order 66) I think inserting Ahsoka into the established canon, and having her not only live during the events from ROTS into the OT, but also having her around during key moments of ROTS ( like with Windu and Yoda on the transmission) It made things go from what I can say since I was a teenager when ROTS came out, is that everyone I knew interpreted the film to take place over the course of a year. Padme was not visibly pregnant until Mustafar, and wars and especially Government policy, and discussions over wars ending, Terrorist leaders and generals being killed, and a government regime change from a republic to an empire over the course of five days. Look how long it takes to count votes for a leader, or how long it takes for bills to pass or be reexamined, whatever. They move painfully slow, even if there is an emergency crisis. I don't see all of this being wrapped up in a week or even a month. Also, the discussion Padme has with Anakin about having their baby on Naboo and what I also think implies RAISING said baby there as well. Making this plan last minute at 9 months if she is due any day, and Anakin is still a Jedi with responsibilities, she is a very active senator wanting to expose whatever corruption is going on, can't just up and leave on maternity/paternity to a secret marriage especially Anakin who just got back from an assignment away on duty. They wanted him back in Coruscant. They wanted him to spy on the chancellor. Kenobi had to actually FIND Grievous on the planet he was hiding on. Yoda had to help the wookies. Dooku was killed. They moved on from that pretty quickly over five days. Five days doesn't account much for how much happens, how much character growth or changes happens for each person. The movie makes far more sense if it was broken up for over a year. Even if that means Ahsoka as a character is now the awkward puzzle piece from another box forced into the wrong puzzle. Season 7 could have taken place over a year. I don't imagine that any of the films happened over the course of a few days, except for maybe A new hope or phantom menace. Anyway. That is just my opinion.
