Hello everyone!
I hope you enjoy this quick video about the culture shocks I experienced when moving back to the US after 4 years in Germany. Would you like a part 2?

The very dark tinting of the front of cars is banned in the EU for safety reasons. Before I cross a road, I look into the car that is coming to see if it sees me or if it is on the phone and distracted. The lack of insects in DE and Europe is more of a problem. I hope you can return to your ... (Lieblingsland?) country!

Exactly! I like to be able to see if someone can see me. I don’t like not being able to see even a figure. I’ve seen some cars here that make me wonder if they can even see out of 😆

Tint on windows in cars is limited in Florida. It can only be so dark and not so you can't see into the car. I like my tint...just right! Yes on the bugs too! Florida...yeah! It's so different in Germany. I love going to restaurants there because it's much quieter and relaxing. Yes I want a part two and I did enjoy this!

I believe in Texas it’s limited as well. I have a feeling some of the cars I see here are not following the laws because it seems like they couldn’t even see out 😳 I miss going to quiet and relaxing restaurants as well. I’ll work on the part two soon 😊

Funny with the parking. I lived in both countries and I think the reason why you park in reverse in Germany(and other European countries) is because the parking spaces are narrower and the space between the two sides is also smaller. So often it is just physically not possible to park in with the front. In the US you just don't need to park in reverse because the parking lots and spaces are huge.

That makes a lot of sense! I never really thought of it that way.

I never thought of that! I park this way because it gives me better visibility when I drive off. And also because, in France, reversing is a "disruptive maneuver" and, in the event of a fender-bender, it's the one backing up who's at fault.

Trains (if you can find one) are incredibly slow in the States.

Yes! You could take a train to almost anywhere in Europe and in the US only very specific places.

You've definetly been germanized over the last four years, lucky you - still picturing you roaming across Nürnberg and its adjacent areas. There's a whole, huge Red Carpet waiting for you upon your arrival back to GER (together with some goodies for Charly) !!!!!

The insect thing isn't a difference between Germany and the U.S.; that's just a difference in the area of the U.S. you are in. Go to the northern U.S. and you'll find it to be just like Germany (or anywhere else at that general latitude).

Having calorie counts on dishes is actually a good thing. I wish more restaurants had them here.

I think if you needed to know calories it should be available, but I don’t think it’s necessary always.

Those who would need to consider them the most obviously care the least.
