I'm thinking of doing the same thing. I never knew this was a reverse Nordic. Some channels i follow have called this the bodyweight leg extension which definitely brings out a massive pump. Split jerks have brought out knots and weird pains and i started doing this often, Bulgarian split squats, one sided, and ring assisted slooooow sissy squats to get bloodflow and keep my right leg in a stretched position. Now i squat jerk but still focus on this exercise, and lots of stretching with the wall to assist

I tend to believe instructors who have the muscular development that I would like to have. Man, those are some great quads, Marc. My only suggestion for beginners like me would be to use a rope or exercise band to take a bit of the stress off until the quads get stronger. That's what I do with regular Nordic curls. Or, do the exercise in a power rack and lightly use your hands to assist as needed. Go for the reps at first then you can put your full weight into the movement when you get stronger.
@carlinberg
@carlinberg 2 года назад
Did you do both Nordics and Revers nordics with bands as assistance? How did it go so far?
@STBRetired1
@STBRetired1 2 года назад
@@carlinberg Since I posted that comment, I bought a real nice home gym setup on my local Craig's List and it has a leg curl/leg extension apparatus so I don't have to do these Nordic curls for my hammies. I did see recently a new exercise I tried out. It was demonstrated on one of those Kung Fu/Wu Shu videos. It is reverse planks. Instead of facing the floor, you put your head on one bench and your feet on another bench and straighten your body inbetween. My neck isn't strong enough yet so I put my upper shoulders on that end. I could still feel the soreness in my neck the next day. Now that I think about it, I could flip over and face the floor with my head and feet on two benches. That would be tougher than just holding a pushup position.
@carlinberg

@S7ilgar
@S7ilgar 2 года назад
I have been doing this exercise for a few months now, just sharing my thought: - in my experience, all exercises with strong emphasis on the eccentric phase burn your muscles straight from the first set (according to scientific studies, the eccentric phase damages more your muscles than the concentric phase). The burning feeling is due to lactic acid, which is a sign of muscle damages that trigger muscle growth. - the numbness is very likely due to the fact the RNC stretches hard your quads, especially if you work on full range. Just my opinion, I have no qualification.
@performance_revolution

@@E3Rehab thx for the quick response! Yes I understand that. But what I mean is (I hope I'm being clear, sry eng isn't my 1st language) anatomically, how does the Reverse Nordics activate the Rectus Femoris 2 a greater degree if we remain in hip extension?
@E3Rehab
@E3Rehab 3 года назад
@@simonsilva250 Isolated knee extension will activate the rectus femoris to a a greater degree than simultaneous hip and knee extension. Dear Sir: Have you a video that deals with exercises that help alleviate the pain and discomfort due to Arthritis in both my hip joints, diagnosed some seven years ago. The main problem is discomfort when walking for my cardio fitness and chronic stiffness? Hope you read my enquiry with thanks.

This movement destroys my knees. Every time I have done this, game over for my knees. Any other exercise and no problems at all. (Personal trainer here). The only thing that may be making this a no no for me is that I have fairly short/tight quads or rectus femurous(as it is the shortest)f I recall.

Discovered this years ago on my own. But killed my knees. My knees don't allow me to do much quad work.

Love it when I see something recommended I already like doing (I do it after other quad exercises)

Around 12, years with pain in this muscle because of football. I will use it constantly since I felt the muscle working when I gave it a try. I hope this helps me as nothing else has. Will update in a couple of months or weeks :)

Had the same issue my friend. If you haven’t already, please also look up “Single Leg Romanian Deadlift”. Had it recommended to me and haven’t had any problems with it since. It’s also equally important with this exercise (aswell as the reverse nordics) that you progressively overload. For example, add 0.5kg every week. Good luck!

I was doing this recently, and my knee made a weird sound. There hasn't been any pain, but now I'm worried about continuing them. I had been enjoying them quite a bit.

I tore my rectus femeris in rugby training a year ago and have been looking for exercises to build it back up and prevent reoccurance. Are there any additional safeguards that should be used before starting this exercise (or during it) for those who have already suffered an injury?
