I just drove a 2.0T and a 3.8 today. The turbo has a nice dramatic jump around 2500rpm and then flats at 4000 which is nice and sounds pretty, but the 3.8 was made for the car. It doesn't hesitate and makes the car seem lighter than an FRS. Steering isn't nearly as intuitive as the FRS, but overall a much more fun car to drive. Which is why I came home with the 3.8 today
Damn, can't believe how much mike has grown. I first started watching your videos back when you first got you're hellcat. Im really happy of all the traction you gained. You deserve it fam.
@@Imleocalm it'll return in 2020. Solely Genesis branded. That version won't be a "Hyundai". This one is. No matter who stepped in and was responsible for it's manufacturing at the time. It's a Hyundai.
DynamiteDupree You're referring to specific manufacturers, whereas I'm referring to Korean cars. Hyundai, Kia and Daewoo, all being Korean, and all starting off as shitbox cars. Especially Daewoo, one of the world's most hopeless, pathetic car brands ever. Thank god they died off years ago.
HotMetal524 I agree with you. I personally despise Korean cars and would never consider them for a second. Why people would choose to buy a sports car from a Korean manufacturer is beyond me. Just their brand value puts them towards the bottom of the pile.
my 2013 is this color and trim. Mine is stock. I have no plans to do anything to it. I feel that the Genesis coupe has a lot going for it to be a future sought after classic. Given their low production numbers (58, 000 total for all years), style, reliability and strong following are all good indicators.
The colour and the wheels is enough to make me wet... and I'm a male. Seriously though, beautiful colour. Never seen a Genesis with that colour before.
The car looks so great with those Wheels and the stance is spot on but not at the expense of hearing that "make your ears bleed scraping" every time you take a corner. They're coilovers, they're adjustable... Adjust them!!
I bought a 2013 Genesis 2.0T and I love it. Its been tuned and I'm sure it has a little over 300hp now. I always wondered what the driving experience is for the 3.8 compared to a tuned 2.0T. Acceleration and rpm torque differences. I considered looking into a 2013 or 2014 3.8 but it must be Track trim.
DynamiteDupree C'mon son you're talking about the limiting case here. People who buy these cars and daily drive them look for driving experience, engagement, and that sense of driving a car and doing it right (best provided with a manual gearbox)... not just features that'll get them locked up and their license revoked. People that just care about speed are a menace on the road and present a danger to themselves and everyone else.
DynamiteDupree Its a pointless argument. Its manual fanboyism really. They get extremely defensive if you choose to drive with an auto tranny. I don't get why. I understand why a different person would want the manual, why can't they respect me getting an automatic. If there wasn't a demand for it in the sports cars, the manufacturers wouldn't make them.
Nice video. I have a stock 2013 3.8 "Track". Mine is auto too because no dealer within 500 miles had a track manual. For a dude that obviously cares a lot about the outside looks of the car, how could he care so little for the inside? It was filthy! Good grief man, vacuum out your car before you let it be shown to thousands of people online! (Owner, not S-WRX Fan.....)
Hyundai has come a long way in the little time the company has been I remember the Excel that was the first model Hyundai that came the states in 1986 I believe Hyundai is one car company to lookout for I just got a 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan 5.0 that car is amazing and I got 100,000 mile warranty.
actually this has 348 stock if you can read Edmunds said... "Many car buffs like to wax nostalgic about the old days, but perhaps they haven't been following the latest news. After all, there are enough exciting new sport coupes on the market to quicken any driving enthusiast's pulse. The 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe may seem like an unlikely example, but this rear-wheel-drive sports coupe now has a standard 348-horsepower V6 engine, putting it on par with pricier performance cars. Combine that impressive output with responsive handling and a modest curb weight, and you have a recipe for the kind of good clean fun that some believe to be a thing of the past."
Hey Subaruwrxfan. I'm planning on buying the 2.0T version. I've seen your 2.0T video a few times then i decided to go drive one and man i had some fun. But what do you think? should i save more and get the 3.8? I kinda of like the 2.0T because how it feels with the turbo. Its just feels weird when i slow down and the turbo basically cuts off. I feel like my butt is dragging the ground. Do you think i should drive the 3.8 to get the feel of that car? Or stay with getting the 2.0T?
+onebigbamf Having owned a 2014 2.0T R-Spec, and now owning a 2014 3.8 Ultimate, I'd say it's up to you on what you're looking for in a car. The 2.0T has a lot more options aftermarket since it's already turboed, and with a tune you can get really good power from the turbo throughout the powerband, but the 3.8 is just so linear and powerful at stock. I remember when I first drove the 3.8 I was so amazed with the power it could throw down. Only downside for the 3.8 is that you can only do basic bolt-ons for power mods or you can turbo it for like 5-6k...
For everyone calling bs It may very well have 400. Obviously naturally aspirated engines don’t get a huge bump from tunes but it wasn’t far from it stock. It’s not impossible.
Are the GTs the only ones with 180 mph on the dash? I was having trouble with what trim my car is but it looked exactly like this one. Color and everything . The difference being the mods of course . Badges too
They actually are. If I don't recall, you're on every video regarding a Genesis Coupe review telling everyone that the car is very bad, despite having bought the first generation year of the car, and living in tough conditions. I could be wrong, so pardon if I am.
***** No, you are right. I did have the 1st gen, and I did talk quite a bit of shit about it. I look back at it though, and it probably wasn't warranted in most cases. Was just a bit upset with it. I have talked to several people since than who have owned, driven or looked at the 2013+, and they all say they are much better cars. I would hope to one day drive a 2013+. The front end grew on me quite a bit recently, I no longer think of it to be horribly ugly. Kind of what happen with the 2015 WRX/STI. Thought they were awful when they came out, saw one in person, and now I own one.
choi7 Yeah, going on 3 weeks of ownership, and its been great. The power delivery is totally different than the Genesis. The Genesis is smooth all the way to redline. The WRX kicks you in the butt at about 3,000, and power starts to drop off after about 5,000 (Silly stock conservative tune). The transmission is probably the best part though over the Genesis. Its so much smoother, and much more forgiving. It feels just as fast though even with having less power. It might be slightly slower technically (I can't really tell), but the gas millage is a bit better, and having the much better interior makes it all worth it.
Could you review a MK5 gli? They seem to fly under the radar because of the GTI, but i have a 6m 2006 gli with a stage one tune and love it! would love to see your opinion on it.
Hey guys, Please could you tell me where the list of extras that vehicle has. I can only see the exhaust listed. Also were the rear wheels and tyres bigger than stock:) Very grateful. Thanks
+Wayne Junior these v6 are also running at peak capacity so 60 hp is asking for a lot even with tune. Accept the fact that these engine will be expensive to mod with shitty gains. This applies to my g37 engine as well. Same shit.
+letsroll 5 grand for turbo set up. Doubt it try 10. Not a lot of ppl have 5-10k laying around to mod their car especially when ur buying a Hyundai to begin with. Does it look like Hyundai buyers r made of money lol
Austin Driver Bro, I am basing my HP numbers off of subaruwrxfan's giggle meter. It was nowhere near a 400hp giggle. U know I'm right. Please refer to the Boss 302 giggle as reference.
Is there any way you can get your hands on a gen coupe that's manual? I really would like to know how it shifts before I buy one.. I'm debating on a 2010-2011 Genesis coupe and a 2009-2011 Honda Accord coupe v6
So do u think if I put a similar setup on my 2.0t, I can get almost the same handling. I'll b honest the 2.0t I got was sort of an impulse buy, I shoulda got the 3.8 but nothing I can do now. I guess the only thing is to mod it an hope it becomes a better driving car:/
The cup holders in the manual are not usable. If you have a bottle of water placed in, it will impede your shifting. I keep my bottled water in the door pocket and just put smaller stuff in the cup holder.
HI, MATT! I just purchase a used 2013 coupe and really excited about her. My Chocolate/Peanut Butter interior, LOL Anyway, I was wonder what was that break pad you spoke of ( you were talking but i could not get the name , the sound kinda drown out your voice at points)? Thanks you.
@@ericdayman3465 got the 3.3 twin turbo V6. AWD. It's more than enough power for the road man. Alot of fun. Plus there is an aftermarket tune available for extra horses
Can anyone tell me the price of this car? Looking forward to buy it but I haven't seen any prices that make sense i keep seeing 16G's than 12-13G's so idk please leave a comment a
People that don't know anything about cars might mistake this for something much more high-end than a Hyundai. That emblem looks Aston Martin-ish, and the sound doesn't scream "Hyundai"
This is a good review, however the car already has too many mods for my liking. I have a GC and it's a great car but reviewing a car with tunes and mods isn't a good impression of how the car actually feels and drives like when you take it off the lot.
Ooo....I really like how the tires and rims sit nicely under the body, not too much not to little. I really like the look of the first gen Genesis a lot more but this 2nd gen is growing on me. The steering wheels needs improvement it looks a little lumpy, I'd wrap it with alcantara. Nice review.
