+TheStraightPipes Because they are digital, and connected to 4G LTE. They are also touch sensitive, have 16 ECUs and have a seperate battery. Clearly superior to the old visors that were just basic.
First, your reviews are great. I owned a similar concept 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT. I put 42K miles on it. It was amazing at pulling my wife's 6,000 pound boat, especially out of boat ramps. I once backed the trailer off of the end of a boat ramp so that the trailer tires were off of concrete and in a hole and the metal of the trailer was dragging on the ramp. The SRT, with its 3-season Pirelli tires dragged the trailer with boat on it on the concrete until the tires were back on concrete. Absolutely amazing traction and way better in that specific predicament than a Super Duty Ford or equivalent with greater towing capability but lesser traction. But the tires were also my biggest complaint on my SRT. I needed new rear tires every 12K miles and new front tires every 15K miles. Those tires were about $700 each and there were no available alternatives. Also, it seemed with the fast wear of the performance tires that they were constantly out of balance. 3,000 miles in on new tires and the Jeep would start vibrating on my infrequent trips on the interstate. While the cost of gas is mentioned as a downside to these vehicles, the cost of tires has to be considered too. After we bought my wife a truck so that she could tow her own boat, I traded my Jeep in for a boring, 7 passenger, station wagon (Lincoln MKT) to haul the family and a ND Miata for my fun car. I can't financially justify going back to something like the Durango SRT, though such vehicles are fun and capable.
Realy!!! You say no problem with the electronic differential lock!!!, For your info, the electo diflock is for off-road, but for high speed performance car mechanical diflock is a must.
Michael Citron, agreed but I dont think Shane meant his comment in a bad way. I wasn't expecting this either, though Goose always surprises me in a good way when his production quality makes a new leap forward.
ROFL when you rushed back to the 2nd row, sort of eagerly put on the headset (I was thinking hmm, really excited to show the Uconnect theater stuff off..) and then started to mess with belt and then quick cut away - dying laughing when I realized the implication :)
Petrolicious, Praemio, Everyday Driver, Motrosport AU (a good racing channel), Valkyr, Throttle House, AMMO NYC (detailing channel but his 4 part series on his porsche rebuild is worth a watch). If you have anything good not on that list, lmk!
Jacob Mueller wow thanks, some of these I know. Do please check out. Roads Untraveled, Davide Cironi (italian with subtitles, but great content). Living Life Fast (LLF). and there is a great italian pov driver Riccardo (forgot his last name)
You imagine driving this with kids and flooring it for entertainment. The kids will yell to stop it because you are making it hard for them to be entertained by their devices
I have the RT. One day I nailed it to pass a slower driver and my young mostly non-verbal child raised his fist and cheered. To which my wife looked at me and said "How often do you do that with the kids on the car?" It's fun to drive but I am probably going to regret the example I am setting when they start to drive. Great production value by the way, nicely done review.
Best car reviews ever. Extreme level of technical knowledge and brand savvy. Concise and integrated focus on consumer-level concerns. Dry humor. You’ve get everything.
The designs(generation) are super old on almost all of them though. I do like how they’re like fuck it, let’s see if we can fit the 6.4(edit 6.2) in everything lol
pretty good review, but your whining about the using the uconnect system was quite annoying. I've used it and it is very easy to use, especially compared to most high end vehicles.
I like the chrome trim. My Durango hugs the asphalt the way I want it to. I’m Use to all unconnect and tech pack. I like the dial shifter. Not any warranty repair required. So high marks on reliable and build quality. Who complains about having a spare tire.
Man this dude is hella smart and seems like he has all his ducks in a row....I just cat figure out why u just dont save ur head? Why hang on to the little hair u have?
I'm not sure what was about to happen at the 05:00 videomark. Reclining with the video headphones and the trousers unbuckling...wth? I can only imagine how uncomfortable the front seat passengers would be on a long road trip with that type of second row debauchery taking place.
"My lady friend, Regina" 😂 Savage! You're certainly the most entertaining car reviewer here on RU-vid, if not anywhere. You give lots of great tips and knowledge to bat. Good stuff all around.
Good review...I think the interior is nice...pretty baller of an SUV for good price. All your friends driving AMG, Mversions will wonder why all the kids want to ride in your Dodge Hemi
Would love to own this family hauler. What is your view on Dodge Durango reliability? Build quality? My main concern in buying this and the Charger Hellcat is how much time I am going to spend in the shop. Any advice?
It won A NUMBER OF QUALITY AWARDS. JUST LOOK UP CHRYSLER/ DODGE QUALITY AWARDS. THERE ARE 11 THE LAST 2 YRS. I BELIEVE THE BEST. THEY HAVE BEEN GOING UP THE LAST 8 YRS AGAIN JUST LIKE THE 50s, 60, s and early 70,s
270 is not outside the normal operating range for Synthetic oil. There's a reason it requires a full synthetic 0-40. Same with the coolant, Hemi's run at temperatures higher than you normally see in other vehicles. Every vehicle is not bound by the same standards.
Man oh man, the want is real. FCA's notoriety for lack of quality and poor reliability aside, I need something like this in my life. There's just so much about the Durango SRT that makes sense to an enthusiast; you have the power on tap, you have the traditional N/A V8, you have American simplicity and size, it's plenty capable and versatile, and although it can be loud and aggressive, it still has a certain understatement to the look that you don't get with a lot of the more mainstream SUVs and whatnot.
Weird my screen doesn’t lag and the seat heaters or coolers have a separate option real easy or when you turn the truck on you can do it on the boot up screen or like mine I have it set to automatic at certain temps.
my mom has a Durango and the plastic silver liner is fine he's being a little over dramatic about this.... and he was saying you have to bend to put the seats back up. A SMALL amount of exercise never hurt any one.
They actually spec 0W-40?! Finally a manufacturer caring more about engine wear than 2% fuel economy. I bet running a thinner oil was part of what caused lifter issues with their old Hemi engines.
You are the most underrated car reviewer on RU-vid, shame people can appreciate your hard work, your humor and your vast knowledge about cars, have been a sub for at least 3 years and have always enjoyed all your videos
I drive an 08 Grand Cherokee with a gen 1 5.7 and the cylinder deactivation works just fine and I don't mind it at all. I don't even feel it. The reactivation is honestly seemlesss. It will only take a few rotations to reactivate and since its normally only on at like 1500rpm, it means a small fraction of a second, like less than .2 seconds. If this really bothers you then you have bigger issues than that. Also that spare is for when you're towing and get a flat because towing is strictly a nogo on runflats. Side note, speaking of that 5.7, a Durango RT will look practically identical and while not as fast or as sporty, its still a 360hp 390tq V8 that still hauls ass and can still tow 7200.
Can you please redo the trackhawk interior. U got to into detail here about where the plastics are and where the leathers are YOU DIDNT do that for trackhalk everything was leather EVEN WHERE YOUT FEET are thats why I left that last comment on the trackhawk video.
Probably the most aggressive family bus you can buy without stepping into European expensive brands. Or the compromise choice when the wife wants a 3 row SUV but you want the Challenger SRT.
Btw, you're correct about letting the automatic shift for you vs the paddles. I'm on my 3rd SRT product, and unless I'm intending to short shift, the shift schedule is smarter than I am with regards to ultimate performance.🤔
You’re videos are one of a kind. I love the shoppe sections of every video. No other auto reviewer thought to show the underbody/chassis of the cars in detail like you did. Please continue! They’re very informative. Plus in 4K!? 👌🏾👍🏾 I look forward to more videos with hopefully gmc, chargers, chevys, etc. keep it up!
Great review, but its best not to say flip over, instead you might want to say switch over since people get anxious when you talk about flipping anything over in an suv.
24:56, you could tell he easily made it to 90mph in that time frame, you can somewhat remotely see the dial get past half way. That is a fast god damn vehicle
This review was bs and a good review some of the negative stuff that he said was true but went way into detail like when you can change the speedometer I mean yea it takes it's time navigate through the oil temps ect. But at least it has those options, because if it didn't have the you would of started bitching about it then about the heated/cooled seat in most SUV you would not see a big old button to heat the seats most companies are going up in technology and don't want to add that. If you do want that go back to 2012. For a fast 3 row SUV this thing is the best. think of it as a mini van but better. You wouldn't get this type of muscle in Any van or other SUV.
When it comes to shifters for automatic transmissions, somehow "Progress" is putting back what worked great for years and should have never gone away to begin with. Hopefully one day we can also have our climate controls and heated seats on buttons too!
I dont get dodge engines. Why people think they are any good. They are unecessarily large, and with a bullshit 2 valves per cylinder and pushrods. Like what the fuck. Get with 80s tech atleast. There is no reason they can't get the 480hp and 470tq out of their 5.7L if Ford can do it with the Bullitt on 5.0L.
I've watched many reviews prior to buying my durango. Some people nitpick badly I thought until i saw this review. You whine about everything that's comparable with modern supercars. Seat heater control in touchscreen and you have an issue? That is a dealbreaker? What has the world come to.... let's whine about the color stitching on the seats while you are at it. Why not complain about the tires being black and not chrome... oh wait.. you hate chrome accents due to them blinding you... wake up there buddy, this is the real world. No wonder the view count is low. RU-vid stop suggesting foolish people like this reviewer.
