I recently got a Casa Blanca white G80 Sport and I'm in love. I mean I've been in comparable BMW, Mercedes, Lexus and for the longest Audi was my favorite luxury car brand BUT it you want the best bang for you buck? There is no competition when it comes to Genesis. The maintenance they provide for the car alone is unrivaled. I did a three year lease and for all three years all I have to do is put gas in it basically. Oil changes, tires, dings etc. are all covered. They pick the car up, service it, leave you a loaner car, and bring it back when it's ready. Who else does that?
I am for real excited about the Kia Stinger GT. What a great looking car. If they can get the performance up to match the looks that's going to be a winner.
ABSOLUTELY beautiful car! Hyundai has come so far the past 5 years, great tech, seafety AND a 10 year warranty?! STUNNING gotta save up for one of those :P
Just bought a G70 3.3T in Siberian Ice. Spent a lot of time seriously looking at a C43... I’m laughing now that I ever considered German cars over this even for a minute. The fact they offer all of this for such a lower price and yet feels as good if not better in some cases is crazy
*Man! When you were driving down that secondary road you looked to be on board of that rolling coaster of Disney World, hehehehe! We could feel how fun it was for you to drive it. Big smile = great car. Bravo!*
Other reviewer‘s will talk about its smooth ride and handling, but I feel like they don’t go into driving dynamics very well. I think you did an excellent job of describing what it feels like to drive the car and what it would be like to have it as a daily driver. Thanks Matt! There’s a VERY good chance the G80 will be my next car. And in the used market they’re going for mid 20s with less than 30,000 miles.
As always, great review, Matt! I recently reviewed the NEW G80 Sport a few weeks ago (in the Polar Ice color), as well! I have to say the G80 Sport is a pretty solid entry in its class. Offering lots of value, an athletic stance, and an elegant ambiance. I still can't wait for the G70 to make its way over to America! From one car enthusiast to another, keep up the great work! 👍🏽
The inclusion of a qi charging pad is so ingenious. I am aware other cars had them but this one looks so convenient and I didn't expect it to be in the G80.
I can't believe how impressive Hyundai has become! I love this car. 60K....seems like a nice deal if you just walk into a dealership and buy one at list price. Does anyone know how much they will negotiate on the price on one of these beauties? That front end is sweet! The styling is no longer copycat. I want one big time.
There is rumor that Kia stinger will have another trim(call it special or limited edition I would guess..) that's packed with tao v8 engine. 5.0L V8 in Kia stinger... can't wait to see If it's really true!
Matt did you happen to notice the seat belt pre-tensioner system, my father was looking at 1 and we test drove one I was quite surprised of what you get for for the amount of money and I think they have the suspension pretty much dialed in, and the quality feel of the car I was quite impressed.
Most of the nose weight that was lost by switching from a V8 to a V6 was lost when you add two turbos and all the piping, even more so if it is intercooled.
Did u know there's engine noise coming through the sound system? Theres a setting to choose how much of it u want but u cant disable it. Muffler delete sounds great on this car though 👌🏼
iMiguelAOG Sit in both....there is no comparison between this interior and a Cadillac CTS or a BMW 5 series. This is much nicer. Don’t even mention the plastic fantastic Mustang interior.
When accelerating this car sounds like a BMW i8. Really nice job Genesis has done with this car. I only wish it could have interior ambient lighting and a fastback trunklid and this car would be perfect.
Matt, you make the classic mistake most drivers make when cornering hard of leaning your head - keep your head upright and your neck relaxed and your inner ear will give you a much better sense of what the car is doing. Try it!
Love the car. Side note the exhaust noise in all of these luxury cars are fake. Some are threw the speakers. And some is actually a intake port facing the driver. So it gives a great noise inside but it's not real on outside.
I'm quite impressed with this car, actually. As someone who prefers more simple cars as a general rule, this car manages to bring in modern tech faetures (and even styling) and do it in a really nice overall package. I wouldn't go out and buy one of these, but I'm glad to Genesis (Hyundai) doing a really good with their Lexus competitor.
Trust me the extra weight won't be on your mind. I just bought a 2018 AWD G80 Sport and its excellent. Its longer than a Merc E class and BMW 5 series.
They didn't use aluminum for this generation, only stamped steel. It is not an indication of lower quality. The new G80 2021+ uses aluminum for the most part since Hyundai is now building its own aluminum. Despite the added luxury contents in the new one, it still weighs 200 lbs less than this 2018 model. That's the benefit of aluminum.
Roland Bat I guess it's a "don't fix what's not broke" kind of deal. Maybe they could've upgraded the led turn signals to be sequential like in the Audi R8.
A man was wondering if you got a chance to do a review of the 2018 or 2017 Kia optima SXL turbo it would really help me figure out if I should buy it or not
J Kav maybe not tt, but at least one turbo. Then they need to put it in this car. With the g70 being lighter and having the same engine as the G80 sport but in a lighter car, this car doesn't seem like it has enough power. I think the 3.8 or 3.3t should be base, 420 v8 optional and then a 5.0t for the G80 sport
Dylan Wodrich since when does anyone do a single turbo on a V engine? There's a reason they use two turbos... it's much easier to do the pipe work for twins
Getting frustrated up here in Canada. Not that many (in fact almost none) available used, off lease. I want it.. just can't find 'em. A Genesis salesman told me, most who bought or leased are keeping them.. Doh!
GREAT review, I knew this car was really good. Hyundai is really pushing out good cars. Would still love to see you review the Elantra Sport its also suppose to be a good car from Hyundai.
You'd think they would have vacuumed and dusted the car before they gave it to you to review - the dandruff flakes & dust in the closeups are disgusting. Signs of a lazy dealership right there. Urgh, and a dirty engine bay too - do they realise you have 300,000 subscribers?
My guess is dealer demo and that's cigarette ash, which is the reason I don't buy used cars anymore. Impossible to get that smell out if you're a non smoker
This car is dope af 👌🏾! I gotta get one just like this and triple black it out . I'll probably take the governor off, tighten up the cornering/body roll, and supe it up with a professional sports tune with better grippy tires and red rotors.
I don’t mind a sporty ride, but comfort is my priority. Which has a more quiet and comfortable ride? The G80 sport or the Lexus ES350? I’m torn between the two.
