Lets check out the incredible Adam A7X studio monitors! ADAM Audio: www.adam-audio... Links: Facebook: / riffsandbeards Twitter: / riffsandbeards Instagram: / riffsandbeards Ask.fm: ask.fm/RiffsAnd...
There are websites that have like 8 hour break-in audio tracks that will sweep from like 12 Hz up to 20k Hz and it's done in a systematic way. They are pretty good. Or just find music that has a lot of dynamic range, like a Pink Floyd album. Not only will it break in your speakers, you can enjoy the best studio band ever! Floyd or Rest Repose. Ether one is good.
If he just focused the camera on the incense, titled the video as an incense review, and talked about the nuances of his incense, people would only comment about the AX7's in the background...
tiscover LOL, truth. In seriousness though, if you've ever listened to a modern pop record through great monitors, it really is a harsh lesson in clarity, I will say that much.
For everyone complaining that these are too expensive, these are actually cheap for how good they are. Some monitors are $2500 A PIECE. Just look up the Adam F7s, which are a budget verison of this monitor.
Are your A7xs are too generating hum when turned on? Shielded cables, Apollo twin, filtered mains, variety of different DACs....still hum. I can see that a lot of people complain about it but yet none of the reviews mention it. Email Adam about it and they just ignored my email. Seriously disappointed with those over-hyped monitors.
had these for nearly a year and totally improved everything I was listening to after upgrading from krk finally upgrading to a bigger studio later this year and look forward to the improvements again, great review and would love the ab comparison on mixes with Neuman and Adams
Aumann in all fairness I agree but you've stated exactly why they are continuously bought they are cheap and do the job to some respect but you only learn from research and upgrading but I'd say the cheap m audio monitors are worse than krks lol
Nah i started out with cheap M-audio BX5's. They are ok for the price, but have harsh mids when you have the 5" models. Cheap KRK's on th eother hand are super muddy and unclear.
Aumann some people may not have been educated enough or have the knowledge a lot of newbies buy them because the store advises it, it happens sadly that's what happened to me when i first started since then I've had the opportunity to test various monitors it happens
Can you make a video that shows how your band sets up on stage, and all the gear you use for sound? I'm trying to start a band and don't know what I need, not just the bare minimum
I have a Yamaha Montage8 Synth and wanted some good speakers for playing the Pianos especially, so that they sounded real/authentic. I first demoed the HS8's at the music store, which were quite good; however there was a harshness in the mid range that I had a hard time getting rid of with the EQ. Pianos tend to use every frequency in the audible spectrum more than any other instrument, especially in the mid range. The folks at the music store also plugged the synth into the Adam A7X's (against my many attempts saying no, because I new that speakers in that price range would sound better), and I was blown away at what I experienced. It was like I was playing an actual acoustic Yamaha CFX Grand in front of me as I closed my eyes. There was no need to for any EQ, as they were sonically perfect! They handled the piano's mid range with zero harshness, like no body's business. I couldn't afford the Adam's as they are twice the price, so I took the HS8's home and spent a week calibrating & EQ'ing in order to get the piano to sound like an actual acoustic grand the way the Adams did. I couldn't justify keeping them any longer, because I couldn't unhear the Adams, so I took them back and started saving. After 8 months, I had enough extra money to pick up the Adams, which I just did last weekend. The HS8's were great speakers though, and if I hadn't heard the Adams, I would likely have been quite happy with them after all the EQ adjustments... and aside from pianos, all the other sounds were really awesome through the HS8's!
I own these same speakers, and they have their flaws; they are by default a bit V-shaped in frequency response, but you can tune that with the controls on the rear. The do not go very low, yamaha hs8 go lower and are half the price. Controls on the rear are a pain to dial really, you need a flat screwdriver or a big strong nails... or tiny nails actually, not good. Then the bass reflex on the front, if you use these speakers at just their middle volume, they are tubes, they make sound, very noticeable. Even worse if you go higher than mid volume... Maybe a subwoofer that cuts below 85hz to monitors would be a solution. Twitters are really nice, no harsh, compared to cheaper speakers like yamaha, detailed. I´m happy with these adams, but they are far from perfect. Price is a bit too high, cabinets are quite thin, weak, yamaha are much thicker, heavier and solid, and again, half the price. Adam warranty is very good, 5 years.
Hey Fluff, have you ever heard strange noises like this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-afNKI2YCZcM.html from any of your A7X units, or your new A77X units? Three of the four A7X's I've had make this noise. :(
I have a pair of Fostex pm0.5n for now... 8years... don't know if i should upgrade to improve my mixes...

Hmmm i don't know i tested them some time ago when i was at Music Store in Cologne and i think you should give the subwoofer a chance ^^ ... for me it was a "oooh yeah" think and mixing the kickdrum is amazing ... i bought Genelec 8050 with a 7070 subwoofer that day but The adams were also cool ... my favorites were the genelecs and the neuman kh310 though
Like many said, it is quite suspicious what you and Spectre Sound did as a review. It seems like advertising for Adam audio. But, I must tell it is a great product. I just tested mines and they are fantastic. They just need a sub to reproduce a bit of what is missing from 20 to 50 Hz (because there is a real drop). With a sub, it is really great. Also, and it is detail but mine have a dip in the 500 hz area (that has nothing to do with my room because I didn't have this dip with the previous speakers). To be precise it is a 5 dB dip from 450 to 700 hz. Really cool flat everywhere else in the spectrum after some small ajustements with tweeter/high shelf/ lowshelf level.
At what level did you do the pink noise and music break-in period? Sources peaking at 0dBFS in DAW, direct to speakers w/ volume control at 50% or something?
Can't believe some of the hate in the comments. I actually think this is one of the most amazing acquisitions Fluff have made recently. The Neumanns are incredible, but I think the Adams (and the Focus, for that matter) are far superior.
There is the two speaker version which are exceptionally good if you want to monitor a replication of (for example) a cinema. If you are a producer for theater commercials or films, short films or orchestra's you're gonna love the A77X's. All your points are completely valid as my guitar teacher has both the dual and the single speaker versions so all the points you made are essentially the same he and I made. He uses these in a 5.0 configuration with 2 A7X's in the back of his room and 3 A77X's in the front, left/middle/right. They sound immense and you can easily talk over them even at high densities (because with these I wouldn't even call it volume but density).
there is something in the background track that makes my dogs crazy, also painful for ears...i'm listening with cheap Mackie mr524 monitors...your fancy Adam monitors can't handle the frequency? haha sorry but i can't even watch the full video, too painful for ear
Hey Fluff, V30 vs Hesu demon........go! Really liking the openness of the demons based on various videos, plus would it be sacraligious to install demons in a vertical mesa 212?!
Pink noise quite loud. It can damage the speaker. At low and high end audio frequencies, the speakers cannot take much wattage. This is industry standard.
The ADAM A8X are even better!, what i like best about them is that they hold up really well tonally at low volume levels, my music pretty much sounds the same at all volume levels, this is not the case with a lot of monitors, even expensive brands
cant wait for your opinion on these glen theyre the only set of monitors ive ever had and now i cant listen to anything unless its on these. they sound killer
Im looking at the A77X's....I know the differences...Between the A7X's and the A77x's....I do RAP Pop/R&b...Are the A77x's better? My room is similar to yours...with the same type of ACoustic treatment. Let me know ASAP Brotha! Thx....DJ Ray Ray (Mtl)
I've bought some very expensive speakers lately. None of them sound as good as simple mid-level 80's speaker, which could have been bought in any electronics stores in the 80's. There is so much bullshit in audio today.
The A8X sound a lot cleaner throughout, the 308 do a fantastic job of filling the room with a 3D soundstage but at a cost of clarity throughout the High/Mids when compared to the AX8. On the flip side though the base on the AX8 is insane, like shit where are you hiding the 2 Subs insane, even after tuning the Low Shelf to -6db turning these things up past a quarter volume feels like someone is punching you in the head. Bear in mind i tested both the 308 and AX8 in a untreated living room of about 17-18m2.
Ive been working with the KRks Rokit 8 ( I know) for quite a long time but I have always used them for recording because in the moment of mixing I go for my Beyer Dynamic DT990 (superb headphoneS). When I change from one source to another, there is definitely a huge difference. The Rokits are rubbish. I dont know why I still got them. I want to upgrade them, this A7X seem to be the choice. I usually produce electronic music and record lots and lots of vocal stuff such as meditations, radio shows etc... I know is a dumb question, but Im correct in choosing this monitors compared to the competition? (Neumann K120, Krk V8 or Genelec M030). My room is acoustically treated.
david2020 it’s maybe a late answer, but I just recently got the A5X. The staff in the store told me that if you produce “bass-heavy” music it would be good to get the subwoofer in addition. But even without they are already really good mixing monitors.
How does a Kemper sound through it? I am rocking the JBL 305 with the sub...I wonder how much of an upgrade these would be...but my room is not treated. Would the KEF LS50 Wireless work in a "plug your Kemper in and rock out" context? ...I don't mix anything...
I took a pair of JBL 308 for a week to try out and for the price they sounded fantastic, the way they throw sound around the room with the Waveguide meant i had great sound whichever seat i sat on my 3 seater couch. The downside (though they were in a 15m2 untreated room) was for the massive sweet spot they give you in more "busy" music the mids to my ears sounded a little muffled/muddy in parts. I bit the bullet and sent them back and coughed up for a pair of Adam A8X. Only had them a couple of days so really early days so far and after doing about 20 hours pink noise i had a bit of a play running many genres of music through these bad boys. No muddy sound at all no matter how complex the track i played, though i did within the first few tracks have to trim a couple of db off the low shelf filter because the base these things kick out is Sub level and for myself i feel a little too much for a smaller untreated room but if your a base head you have found your new wife lol. The only negative thing i will say other than coughing up the money is that its hard to have them playing quietly in the background while you do other stuff (i like to game on the PC for example) because you just want to crank them up and when you do you find yourself just sitting and listening lol.
I dig Adam Audio. Good sound for a decent price. The tweeters though...ribbon tweeters eat ears. I would say the Neumanns are more flat monitors and the Adam are more hifi. And yes, I've had both of these monitors. I use Focal Solo6 nowadays.
