Review: ARRMA Nero 6S BLX Monster Truck
Here's my final review of the ARRMA Nero and I've also included the FAZON and given my thoughts on that car as well, but it's on the bench mostly for comparison purposes.

So good to see you back. Even though this is an old video. I was 100% not interested in this truck, it's just not my cup of tea. But I enjoyed your review. Your reviews and other videos kind of brought me into this hobby, and even though I am flying racing quads more that I drive my wheeled RCs lately, I still enjoy them and the whole hobby thanks to you for a good part. Just wanted to say thank you, and I wish you all the best after these tough times.

Mate, i like the review and the length at which u have taken to explain your opinions....BUT... 5/5 for support and value? In the UK at least Arrma in general has totally dissapeared! Do u have any insider info as to whats going on??? I felt this nero was quite over priced for what it is. and waiting 2 weeks for parts?? surely thats not good buddy?? i mean for u with loads of rc's to choose from, but if this is your own rc... u can't wait 2 weeks for parts!.....and for many overseas shipping makes things crazy expensive! thumbs up for the effort and as usual quality of your utube content but 3/5 for both those and i would be 100% with you ;) liked your honesty over the broken parts and explanation of how they occurred... don't remember u mentioning the chassis bending?, tho i could well have missed that ( it was along vid!) xmaxx better value surely ;)

RC Maxx UK Um, I don't live in the U.K... Why would I rate this car based on where you live? Based on what it costs you? This is my review and I live in Australia, so why would I adjust MY score to suit you? Logically, if you don't have parts in your area or the brand is not supported in your country, the your scores and overall review of any car would be different to mine. XMaxx is not in the same class as the Nero. It's a different scale and costs twice as much to run it in 8S. Not to mention, it's far more expensive to buy over here. It's like comparing apples with a zucchini. Sure, maybe the XMaxx costs as much as a Big Mac over in the U.K., but over here most people have to remortgage their house to buy one.

I was kidding about mentioning the xmaxx. Totally different I agree. Personally I feel it's a bit over priced for an arrma. And 2 weeks part support is not good enough. Similarly the big rock and outcast ( basically the newer releases) is crazy money imo. The kraton in contrast is great value... though now as I've said all arrma vehicles now seem out of stock in the uk so I'm very glad a did not buy one.... as right now I'd be very upset with them suddenly disappearing from stock without warning, making spares hard to come by. Different in aus which is good for u guys. 👍

good review ...i have the nero,taxon, and the v2 kraton and I can say the kraton is the best..matter of fact I think the kraton is the best rc period..wasnt to fond of the nero handling but still a ok truck for the most part

If there is anyone still paying attention to this video, i need some help deciding if the Arrma Nero Big Rock is still worth around $500? I love the look of the truck but have never driven it so I need anyones opinion of the truck. If your got totally trashed today, would you buy a used 1 for $500 in pretty good shape?

Absolutely the best RC reviews anywhere anytime for anything. I can't say enough positive things about your reviews. I absolutely agree with the conclusion. It's overly complicated overly heavy and probably should have never come to market and considering it put the company out of business probably not the best idea. But aside from all of that I love the ridiculous complexity of this truck. I have all of the other Arrma trucks and they are all amazing amazing vehicles. But an RC collection will never be complete without one of these.

I have been running 80wt with the white hotracing springs. this gives the truck a much more plush feeling. 80wt may still be a little thin but its better then stock. glad to see youre back!

I have had two e-revo's brushed & one brushless, two summits both brushed. Now I have two Nero's & am going to open up the Fazon here in a little while. I still love Traxxas but only running the slash based rc's now. I love my Nero based monster trucks, total brand name swap on the buying of my monster trucks ;)

love ya back mate. Abd this vid was AWSM. key to prevent doors to open the following foamqubes must be used. I used the foams since day one and did not cut them, meaning tons of force to get lipo in place. Like you i had mine for a while and abused to and beyound, and only once the dor open and it was a few days ago, to small lipos AND sand in the mechanism.

I have a big rock, and I hate it. It breaks driveshaft screws constantly. It doesn't matter if I run it hard or easy. The rod ends break if I just look at them wrong. The rear body mounts snap way to easy. It would be a great car if they fix the stupid little stuff.

Another great review Vas! I am just geeked that your back! The massive body shakes and cold sweats of withdrawal symptoms I have been experiencing over the last few months are nearly gone now and with a good dose of a few more of your vids the symptoms should go away completely! 😉 hehe Seriously though, you have been missed greatly and I think I can speak for all of your viewship on this that we are all happy you got things sorted out and hope that you came out on the plus side of whatever the issues were. Great review Vas! I've had my Nero Big Rock for about 2 months, after a high speed cartwheel on grass all my locking diffs stopped working... I can still hear them when I switch the dial on the transmitter but none lock anymore. I'll have to disassemble the whole thing to investigate what's happening with them... 😨

arrma seems to be very good at addressing issues they came out with the v2 of the Typhon which solved all the previous issues the v1 had this is something not menny companies do

I've loved my Nero. It's been a awesome truck, better than my e revo anyway. The durability for me has been a 4/5, I had the joint end problems tell I got the beefier versions arrma came out with. I've broke 2 rocker posts, and next time one breaks I'll put in the revo ones, but it would be awesome if GKA released some rocker posts. Great review 👍

With these T-bone Racing bumpers I have heard some issues on the Kraton, stripping out the screws from the front differential case during a front hit and also breaking the differential case, too. Any similar experiences?

Thanks for the review, I have been asking for your final thoughts for a while, I have had horrible experiences with my bero platform (fazon) and couldn't sell it fast enough stuff broke sooooo much and fast, it was just a street truck for me, never bashed it (too pretty) but every time I ran it something broke and there is wayyyyyy too much red threadlock holding screws in, to change out a pinion is a damn project, the stock tires are too hard and don't handle 6s well, blew out my two frontt wheels first time on 6s with 17t pinion, broke the rear drive shafts/axles because they can't take the weight of the truck doing wheelies.......just all around a bad experience for me.

great video vas. glad to see your active again. but I hate my arrma nero. my first run with it I broke a rear cantilever screw. seconed run I broke the plastic rear cantilever. 4th run I broke the opposite side of suspension cantilever. my 6th or 7th run I broke a front steering block. 8th run I broke a suspension eyelet and a steering eyelet. some time after my servo burnt out and now something is clicking on my diff. I'm going to fix it then sell it. I can't deal with its problems anymore:(

wow this truck in the uk is nearly £600 , and where are putting the battery underneath the truck is crap on how much you are paying for it . none or the the top brands are doing this , so what the hell thay are thing of ther are better truck out there for atlot less then this .

I really hope Arrma abandons the bottom battery trays opening from the bottom. I really dislike that. I like the way there Kraton and it's relatives have the straps much better.

I feel like you're trying to justify this truck but to be honest everyone knows the Nero is a lemon. Expensive, heavy, complicated and weak. And the locking diffs are just a gimmick. These diffs can't hold silicone so they are either locked or wide opened with no resistance which is horrible for handling. There's a reason why all other RC's have fluid filled diffs.

+Norcopunk You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but I like these trucks. The fact is they are not for everyone, some will like the locking diffs "gimmick" and some won't. Also, the diffs do have a special grease in them so they don't leak and I've seen lots of people fill the diffs with oil and be successful. The Nero is not a lemon, IMO, it needs refinement, but it's a great truck and an absolute tank. Go watch my driving footage and see what I put this truck through, it takes a lot of abuse.

Norcopunk the Nero has a few problems, rocker posts, and driveshaft pins, the ball joint end problem arrma solved, however, it is a RTR, all rtrs need a few upgrades, and all the neros problems can be fixed. It's not a invisible rc, no rcs are invisible.

Fair enough guys. Any RC that goes forward and doesn't fall apart isn't really BAD then if you take the stance that you just have to sort out it's issues. I suppose the real question is why would you drop the money on this instead of something like a kraton? Is the locking diffs really worth the premium and the issues? I mean 99% of the time you're running in the same configuration anyways. More importantly are the locking diffs even worth giving up the ability to tune the diffs with oil? Vas the ring gears have actual holes right through them for the locking mechanism so no, you can't fill them with oil unless you plug the holes and remove the locking mechanism which defeats the whole point of the truck in the first place.

caden lawdon How so? I know the E-Revo doesn't have a TVP chassis, 1/8 scale diffs, metal driveshafts, locking diffs or an exo-cage design like the Nero does. The Summit has locking diffs, but is basically the same as the E-Revo except it's not brushless... So, I'm confused, how is it similar? Because it's 4WD? Because it has 4 wheels? Because it's the same size? Or is it because it's waterproof?

Six Shooter if it BRAKES very easily then you need to reset your end points so it slows down and not just stop

lol, i have 4 Revo's. 2 nitro and 2 electric... No i think its great that there is more to choose from and more company's adding competition to the market place. Good for the consumer for sure.

Then if that's the case, how do you not see that the Nero platform is quite different? You and everyone else that sees those lay-down shocks automatically assumes that this truck is the same as the dated Revo, yet you are so wrong. It's totally different. Is it better? That's a matter of opinion... I know the Nero is not for everyone and I know not everyone that owns one likes it. So if you're happy with your Revos, stick with them. If you want to try something different, then give the Nero a go. But I can assure you, they're not alike.

Doesn't the Nero have pill ball knuckles, geared differentials with encased bulkheads. Plastic slide shaft universals with dust boots? Looking at the exploded view the only difference seems to be a simplified frame and a forward opening bulkhead design. lol Even the bumper supports are the same.

Stereo Studios You're joking, right? LOL. I think you're either looking up the Revo exploded views, you're blind or you're just trolling to pass the time. Either way, I'm not gonna waste my time on this one. Go to a hobby shop and look at one up close and you'll see how different they are.
