I've been running this wheel exclusively for about 5 months and agree with just about everything in the video. I was skeptical of the thumb encoder location but got used to the location pretty quickly. I drive GT cars mostly so I have these mapped to BB and TC and don't change them much throughout a race. Open wheel cars might have different needs but I dont have an issue changing position mid corner. Build, button and encoder quality are so good on this wheel! If you don't need the RGB it's hard to overlook this wheel.
Weird question, does one of your "thumb" encoders press inwards like a button (it doesn't have an input, I can just press it and it feels like a button)
Thanks for reviewing this product. I bought this wheel rim (SC2 wireless version) earlier this year & I absolutely love it but I hadn't fully appreciated all the features of the encoders & I hadn't managed to properly figure out the bite-point adjustment. I drive in gloves so I hadn't noticed anything off with the grips. It's a quality product for sure & I reckon that for twice the price of my original Fanatec rim & universal hub, it's at least twice the product.
Just got this wheel last week! I also have the Simucube Tahko wheel which I think is great given you are after that shape, the shifters feel great and very seamless setup and config. I then got attracted by the F1 wheels and got an Ascher Racing F28, which I think is amazing as it feels like a super solid product and the shifter feels incredible (but a bit louder). I then got into the size and screen envy....and looked at GSI wheels or the Rexing Mayaris...but I ended up buying a VPG Elemento PRO as it was "different". However I didn't like the shape, the screen is never really in the right eye-position, set up a bit clunky, and the usb cable... let's be honest....is not as nice as having a wireless wheel, so it felt a downgrade that cost £1200. I now ended up buying the Ascher Wheel F64 v3 wireless which is the best combination of everything even if it is really expensive....but I think I will stick to this brand going forward or I'll wait for a F1 wheel from Simucube. I mostly play ACC :)
My wheel since Day 1 of V3! It amazes me I cannot change this amazing wheel with anything, but will see Hyper P1 soon, lets see Hyper gonna replace my veteran Ascher V3 or not :)
That tacky grip always brought up is what the actual or IRL steering wheels use for grips. It is because they are more grippy. I prefer them, they are easy to clean despite being dust and dead skin cell magnets. A microfiber towel is all it takes to clean, just damp it and good to go.
I love the sticky grips on it. They almost make the FFB feel more powerful cause your hands just stick to the wheel like a magnet. Super easy to clean with isopropyl. Much better than the leather grips on my old F28.
I bought this the second I heard they made the F64 wireless. I had the F28 with leather grips which used to be my favorite rim but this new one blows it out of the water. My only concern is the rechargeable battery. What happens when that eventually dies and I'm out of warranty, or maybe Ascher doesn't make/service that rim anymore, or maybe Ascher goes out of business? With the F28, I just need a generic battery. Would I be able to replace the rechargeable battery in the F64 in the future?
The thumb encoders on the ascher is just wrong. The F-Pro I’ve heard many say the calibrations is off or a problem calibrating, or is that the F core or both?
Hi Guys! I own f28-sc v2 wireless version and have some input problems with my 7-ways joysticks. Both joysticks don't work properly in ACC, F1 21/22, rFactor games. I posted videos on my profile of how it looks. Has anyone had a similar problem? Could this be a grounding issue with my simrig? Or maybe the problem is with my simucube 2 pro base?
@boostedmedia, can MPS be setup as regular rotary encoders, or can they only be switched between MPS and rotary-shift? Also, can they be switched back and forth (MPS RotaryShift) on the fly? (Same for the top encoders) Thanks
I'm not gonna lie, the Simagic FX Pro is way more bang for buck in my opinion, you have two extra dials, RGB-backlit buttons (if that's what you look for in rims), and the screen and shift lights are integrated in the wheel, yet it's over $500 AUD cheaper. I do have to admit, though, the Ascher rim does look amazing, even without a built-in screen Edit: Forgot to add the Ascher racing rim is no doubt higher quality and nicer to race with, but I've only tried the FX-Pro so I don't actually know what it's like
Simagic stuff is great but when it comes to quality of buttons and stuff like that they aren't comparable, I love my simagic stuff but I just got a cube controls wheel because the wheel I had from simagic was sooooo heavy and wide for my liking but they do really have some great stuff and I understand your argument
as some one with a FX pro the price defiantly shows in the quality. the grips have a pretty considerable amount of flex due to the open bottom grips, and the front plate being carbon rather than aluminum. The other quirk about it is that the wheel ONLY works on a simagic alpha series wheel base and the screen is locked to the supplied dashes within SimPro Manager (beta still). As of writing this comment there are pretty glaring problems with all the dashes (no ERS deploy mode on the BMW dash, cars with two stage TC adjustment dont display properly and the driver ahead/ behind does not work at all. I'm Very happy with my purchase but you are defiantly losing QOL features with the Simagic Eco system as it sits. all in my alpha /FX pro was about $1600 with tax. for a simucube 2 sport and cube controls CX3 with the extra option paddles it was going to be ~ 3300$. is the added quality of a cube controls wheel + better encoder / software of the simucube worth $1700 more to you? thats up to you to decide. just be aware that you give up quite a bit going with a Simagic or Moza at the moment.
Still can't understand these prices... honestly 1000 euros? I know there are premium wheels and people who can pay for that but I've been seeing just wheels that cost at least 700 euros. With these amount of money you can buy a really good direct drive and it's something that makes much more difference in terms of immersion.
Hi Will. Strictly as a VR user, would you say this wheel or the Cube Controls F-Pro would be a better option? I also want something around 290MM for both GT3 and Open wheelers. Currently I run 2 different wheels and want to combine into one wheel for both, and both of these wheels look to provide plenty of buttons / knobs as a VR user.
In the latest Videos you werent driven with the Ascher racing, is there a reason for that? I'm looking for a new Setup. I've got Heuskenveld Pedals and want to Switch from Fanatec DD to Simucube 2 Pro. And i dont know exactly what wheel would be a good Allrounder. So what do you think about the Ascher in compare to the competitors in this video? Best regards.
I have Heusinkveld Sprint + SC2 Pro + this Ascher F64 V3 wheel and you really cannot go wrong with that combination. Ultimate reliability, quality and feeling. For competitive racing - it’s perfection. Though, I’m waiting for the Ascher McLaren Ultimate wheel and will replace my current wheel with that. Sometimes I want to drive in the dark but without backlit buttons it’s a bit hard. For pure driving experience, this wheel is amazing. I can’t comment on the wheel diameter. I’ve never had anything other than 285mm but it’s a good size. Maybe it will be nicer on 300mm with the McLaren wheel, I don’t know yet
Asher and several other brands make button plates to used along side a Round, open top and D shaped wheels along with prepackaged kits that include a rim.
Will all your reviews are on point, the only thing I would suggest is why you never mention the actual weight of all those steering wheels. Weight is important for those who might have lower power bases....just my opinion..
@@boostedmedia the reson was they are waiting the parts and it is problem with suppliers. I understand that, but in this situation you want they inform you about it. In my case i write them ones per month and every time the answer was problem with suppliers, they delay 4 times.. i am happy i had email yesterday about delivery order. They shipped yesterday, i am so happy.. i hope your review will be positive about MPX ;)
Cube Controls have annoying lag in his bluetooth connection. So annoying on change gear that I sold new wheel after two hours of use. I don't know if Ascher has the same. And I don't know how I can find out. Will "does not notice" delay of Cube Controls, so, how I can trust him about Ascher...
Lack of imagination, boring design,no illuminated buttons, come on this is 2023 ,you cannot suggest a wheel at that price range as good when there are so many better alternatives out there for less money.
It all depends on what you prioritise. Some people don’t care for all the fancy stuff and just want a clean and well built wheel. I said in the review that there are other options with more functionality around the same price point.
@@boostedmedia I get that,my point is not against you review mate,I like your work,it’s against companies that don’t provide what they supposed to for the money they ask.And again we are talking about a high end product here.Make it how it supposed to be and let people decide if they are gona use them or not.I can use the light if I want too or not that’s my choice but for sure on a high end product I want it all
You only name subjective things. Lack of imagination? How you can adjust all those buttons is pretty great actually. Boring design? Some prefer Cube style design, some say it look like a toy. Some like the clean and minimal design of Ascher, some say it's boring. Ascher has quality stuff, reliable and good customer service. The 3 most important things. If you want it all you see the price will get like 1500eu. For example the Rexing, GSI, CX3 wheels.
@@MelfjeProductionS And take my criticism as a way to see that people that buys experience thinks want them to be spectacular not only reliable.Reliability is something to be expected at that price range
Hi will can you give me some advice on what's the best set up for a Rally simulator. I got next level racing FGT ELITE rig. I wish I didn't get this one. To much to adjust. 😅 so can you recommend one please. Thanks bro have a good day.
