A lot of the stuff is just rereleases from eaelier versions and I don't think many LGS will be happy about the amount of things that are "direct order" only .
I think a lot of people will be happy to get their hands on some of the older stuff though Les, instead of paying through the nose on eBay etc. The direct order thing.. yeah agree but the stores can always talk to BF about doing a special order... Ive seen it done.
Les, I think the Direct Only range is meant to save stores having to carry a ton of minor stuff. But from the amount of people who’ve said they want the winter infantry, I think the rereleases will be popular.
Great overview, and looking forward to getting my Tank Training Company box that is on preorder with Modelling for Advantage😊. Sounds like I am going enjoy building some of the units in book and command cards. As a plus, it has given me the reason to finish off my Starlingrad/Berlin city board.
Mrs Kaiser will see you right! Also, I think the Kaiser is working on some modular city boards. Maybe we’ll see something about that on his channel at some stage.
Thank you. But nowhere near as much fun as you and JonnyB digging through the Tank Training Company box set. That video was gold. Can I borrow Jonny to do some unboxings?
I didn't pick up volksturm back in V3 and now looking forward to fielding a formation of them in V4. Wondering if the command cards has their dedicated formation so you can use those extra direct order volksturm units all in formation.
I understand the IR tech being used in game but it seldomly worked and was quickly removed according to The Chieftain; backup by historical account. It is an oddity and neat but don't see why it's an actual thing in the book.
Yeah. I have heard similar analyses. Plus frankly Germany had bigger problems at that stage in the war than getting some night-vision technology going. It wasn’t going to be the difference between victory and defeat. But it has been said Flames of War is more of a miniatures-based war movie than a historical simulation. It is kind of fun to see it in the game. Not much good to me. I play British. At least by 1945 my troops had learned to wear long pants…
I am re-enforcing the elements I never got around to before metal went out of favor. I have purchased blisters of Volk Sturm, PzGren., Hitler Uts, VolksGren and Sturm platoons. In short, I am preparing for a summer offensive. Pioneer's (winter)? What's the over/under on the release of that unit?
Are you sure the Wespe was in North Africa? It's not in BF's North Africa book. I thought it was first used on the Eastern front in 43 and then to the Italian front in later 43
It’s not in the North Africa book, but according to the source I was referencing, Wespe arrived during the fighting in Tunisia. It saw much more widespread service in Italy and the Eastern Front. But since you asked, I expanded my research a bit and it seems the Tunisia claim is a bit controversial. Much debate back and forth. You might well be right. If so, that’s a childhood memory of building the Matchbox 1:76 scale Wespe in DAK colours and markings that might turn out to be a lie!
I'm really happy to see the Panther (IR) and Sturm Platoon finally back. I started building a v3 Panzerkampfgruppe Wallenberg (from Nachtjäger) just before v4 dropped, now I'll finally be able to field them as the similar Clauswitz formation in v4. 😁 One question, I don't suppose the Arado Ar 234 made a return in the command cards? I think that with this release that's the only v3 miniature I own that I still can't field in v4. 😅
