To me the british hard plastic infantry is the best hard plastic infantry BF ever made. These starter sets - as the 2 players startersets - are always worth a look even if you just want to expand your force. It is the prize. I bought the "Kursk" starter set lately because I wanted more tanks for my mid war soviets (T-34 and Valentine). I paid less than I would have for one T-34 and one Valentine box, got more of these tankes - and some other stuff! (Not to mention that BF's plastic is great... eh... yeah... mentioned it... well... anyway...) So a review about such a box is always welcome.
I'm working on my own Fife and Forfar comet company based on this Box. With the addition of a comet box and a sexton/Ram/kangaroo box I have a lovely little 100pts force that is mostly balanced and a lot of fun to play. The Challengers and Chaffee's have been relegated to my pile of shame but they will be options for the future. Even with the spare this is such great value as a base for late war Brits I could have bought 2 and not spent much more than I did and had even more infantry, Challengers, Archers and Chafee's piled up waiting for their day.
Your force sounds great! Too bad about the Challengers and Chaffees - especially the Challenger! But it's great that there is so much variety in this box set. So much new plastic goodness. I'm sure those other tanks will be useful somewhere.
Thanks for another great review. Really luke the look of this starter set but way too much in the paint que to add a British army till at least the summer :)
A brilliant review/unboxing of a brilliant starter. So much plastic goodness. BF really did a great job with this storehouse of goodies. If I didn't already have dozens of all of these, save the Archers and Roos, I wouldn't be able to resist it. Again, great review and I esp like your historical footnotes and pictures. Thank you.
