The natural FF successor for Canon Street photography (EOS R and 35mm f1.8)… Having said that, I'm happy with my M50, and M22 lens at the moment.

I just bought this lens to go along with my new Canon R6 and took the two with me to vacation in Florida. I was absolutely blown away by the images I was getting from this lens! I also brought along with me a Canon G5x mk II for when I needed wider or more telephoto shots. It was the perfect companion camera.

Definitely my new favourite all purpose lens! Couldn't be happier with mine. Super impressed by the sharpness (including corners), the lightning fast af, the great is and the super nice bokeh. Only weather sealing could improve it. In my opinion, this feels like a sort of spiritual successor to the original 50mm 1.8 EF lens. Pro results on a budget!

Hi Mattias! Thanks a lot for your review! I have the older EF counterpart with aperture 2.0 and IS. Very happy with this lens and via the Fringer adapter I can use it on my Nikon Z6. Nice shots of Gunpowder

This is my favorite lens for my rp. Step it up a little bit to f/2 and the image is super sharp.

I love that extra ring RF lenses have, makes me want Sony to start doing it. + nice sport conquest ;)

Finally.

I really hope the new lineup of "budget" 1.8 lenses for the RF mount all follow the same path as this 35. It's a no brainer if you want that focal lenght and you're on the RF system

Good review! Like the lens very much and the pictures are so nice. I wish Canon would also make more lenses like this as RF 50 f1.8 IS and RF 85 f1.8 IS. The L versions are very good but not all guys need F1.2 nor can afford 2.5k $ per lens.

Hey Mattias, thanks again for an awesome review. Your choice of music is spot on-I've heard this track on a few of your other videos, and it's honestly one of my favourite tracks! I just picked ordered the EOS RP, the RF 50mm f/1.8, and a second LP-E17, but sadly couldn't get the RF 35mm yet because the store I am getting it from hasn't received any new stock yet... but I feel that the RP and this 35mm lens will be my go-to for video and general-purpose shooting for a long time. Even once I upgrade to the R6 or R6 II (whenever that happens), I feel that I will always keep this 35mm lens. Can't wait and thanks for the video!

Darn it lol I was trying to resist getting the R but you keep making a good case for it lol. I was looking at the R + the 24-105L kit lens because a local store is giving me 100 off plus 24 months interest free since i've been their sucker i mean loyal customer for many years lol. I wasnt counting on the 35mm though lol.

Hi - I’m learning a lot from watching your channel! Please, please review the Canon R soon with your preferred lenses. I’m looking at the R as a good stills/video hybrid for event work but am unsure of it because of things like the shot to shot time when shooting stills (I don’t spray and pray). Also, the cost of the new lenses is out of my budget so I need to adapt my current Canon primes for now and want to find some good third party primes and zooms. My alternative is to consider the Fuji system.

Do u know any good inexpensive car photography lenses?

I never fully understood the concept behind a 35mm macro/close-up lens as 35mm is far from ideal as a macro/close-up lens.

I’m an RP owner still not able to decide on my first RF lens. Do I go for the 35 or hold out/save up another third more UK pennies for the 24-105 F4. I suppose it depends on whether the majority of my photos using EF lenses are around the 35mm?

Does the electronic IS on the R work with the lens IS or do you turn the EIS off to use the lens IS (sorry, don't own the R). Awesome review - quick with great examples.

Hey mattias. Have you ever considered to buy a sony camera with an A mount? Old autofocus minolta lenses will fit on the sony A mount so the lenses are dirt cheap.
